ahhhh you guys I've been seeing this boi and he's rad. he's 10000x cooler than me though so I know it's not gonna end up being anything but dang I missed just hanging out with someone that makes me feel good and alive and stoked. he's so pure! we've traded books and beers and gone to see live music and he walked my cat with me. kinda in love.

on another note, I got called off of work today and I'm taking the day to catch up on homework and little things. at work we do this 'daily gratuity' thing during our morning meetings where we all stand in a circle and share what we're grateful for that day. on days that I don't work I love just saying it to myself in the shower or something - it's a sweet way to start ya morning. anyway, thx for reading.

jk guys I think I'm hella in the friendzone... SOS need advice

I can never really understand the whole “I don’t give a fuck” thing. It seems like people do things and claim not to give a fuck but then get mad when the reaction isn’t what was expected. In reality you DID give a fuck.

For example: went to Oregon with a friend and we went on a hike. Nothing crazy but a decent route that (for us) was difficult. She wore a crop top, short shorts and not functional sneakers and did the whole “it’s my body idgaf” claim and then when people stared/gave funny looks she got all defensive saying she could do whatever because it was her body and this that and the other.

To me, that isn’t “not giving a fuck”. That’s making a scene and giving a fuck when you inevitably face the consequences of your choices.

Don’t get me wrong if you feel like you can do anything and you truly will not be bothered by it, all the power to you. That’s awesome. But I feel like a lot of the “idgaf” attitude is a way to evade consequences in a way or at least have control over a situation which is kind of...sad? Idk if that’s the right word.

Anyway, TLDR; do your fucking thing without claiming you dont give a fuck and actually just don’t give a fuck.

If anyone has an hour to kill, this lecture about depression/anxiety is one of the best I've ever seen:

I really like the section about advertising and the erosion of intrinsic value. So much of what we do is motivated by external factors and we don't even think about it. Even skiing can get polluted by this thinking sometimes, although one of the best things about skiing is that most of us could easy say we would do it no matter what for the joy it brings (intrinsic value) and not because of what anyone else thinks (extrinsic values; money or facebook likes).

So in Jersey it has been unseasonably warm. Reached 80 last weeks for a day and 70 today. Our slopes are melting. It was a sad sight today as I tried to ride. After work. I have been skiing at least 15-20 times but I feel the season was not long enough. I don’t enjoy slushy trails mixed with mud and rocks. Idk that’s just on my mind rn.

I bought a shiatsu back and neck massager off amazon because my neck is all jacked from a fall I took last week. Let me just say if you have $50 laying around this is a worthwhile investment. I should've gotten one sooner. Whenever I take a hard slam skiing the number one injury I get is some mild to moderate form of whiplash, and that usually happens 3 or more times a season. The massager is also doing great work on my calves, I've been tranced out for the last hour with this thing.

I look like this now.

yo the boy I'm in love with and his lame ass pretentious barista girlfriend just broke up, should I swoop? (to be fair, I was seeing him first. lol read posts above from 3-ish months ago RIP)

I really don't like the graphic on the new on3p Jessie's. Shame.

Completely agree. Too bad since this years graphic was a rad badass snake. New art just looks like a generic girly soccer mom ski graphic. Nothing says "sick" like a special snowflake I guess.

Right? I also feel like the whole symmetrical mandala-esque thing is a bit played out. It feels like a cop out and unispired whereas the rest of the graphics for this year's line are pretty cool.

I slipped out on a tube and landed right on the pointy capped end part. My worst bruise of the season I think, and I've had some good ones. My thigh is all poofed out like a softball. This is why I normally avoid jibbing... I should've stuck to tube 50/50's, much friendlier slip outs on those.

The season is ending :(

Sadness.... Its been a week and a half since I last skied. It feels like it just started and then the whole winter was a blur.

I liked the snake grahic on the Jessie even though i don't like snakes in real life. Why did they do away with the 88 width model for 2019?

My brother's ex wife has 6 kids with 4 different guys and 5 of them are still with family, the new born is adopted. CPS was involved with each father and pretty much none of them are fit to have custody. My family could have legal guardianship of my niece and nephew but if we do that, then all 5 will not be together. They're 3 years old to 12 years old and separating them at this point is not ideal. As of now their grandparents from their mom's side is really the only family option for them all to stay together. Unfortunately they are 65ish years old and taking care of all these kids is going to be pretty tough.

If they can't stay with family and are fostered, there is a chance they can stay together in foster care (though finding a local family with a home for 5 kids is next to impossible). I could live with that because they would all have each other and our biological family could still coexist. They would just have a more permanent and stable living arrangement. I've heard stories of friends taking their friends kids in and adopting them and all that. I'm just hoping no matter what happens 1. the kids stay together 2. the kids are taken care of and happy and 3. our family can remain in contact.

Dang. This is nuts. I hope everything works out for the kids and that they end up in the best situation possible!

I bought new skis! Al dente zero's, because they were half price at cole sports. All ski equipment is 50% off at cole sport right now and they have a bunch of Armada skis, but you have to go to their physical store. Anxious to see how they are. At least if I don't like them I should be able to resell for close to what I bought them pretty easily. I really hope the carbon stringers make them nice and poppy, the camber zone looks beefy compared to my rossi slats. I haven't owned Armada skis before so this is new and exciting for me.

Yipee for new skis! That's a fun feeling. I just ordered a new coat and pants off evo.com . They have some big time clearances there. I've been looking at park skis . Its quite overwhelming trying to figure out what I want since these would be my first ones of this kind. Thankfully I have plenty of time to research.

I've spent more than my fair share of money at Evo. If you live in the Seattle area you can visit their warehouse and they sell cheap scratch and dent stuff, but their online prices are nearly as good.

I got to take the Al Dente Zero's out today and initial impressions are good. They have some serious twang to them when you pop (good harmonics from the carbon stringers). The camber zone is plenty stiff, but I can feel the nose butter zone if I really throw my weight over the front. I was enjoying the extra boost I got just on flat ground pops. They should be perfect for those variable groomer park days. They weren't the greatest off piste, the beefy camber zone meant I had to really stay on top of them to keep them from bucking me off in heavy chop. Great rebound in turns and so long as things stay somewhat smooth the skis are well behaved. They also rode switch a lot better than my Slats. I'll probably take them out a few more times in the morning then switch to my Gotamas for afternoon offpiste slush. It's supposed to get crazy warm this week so I don't have high hopes for much in the way of smooth turns.

i hate how much clothing i have, like moving is such a shitty reminder of how much of a slave i am to modern consumerism and i feel so icky about it. someone take my closet please n thanks

I just discovered that my bank charged a $6 fee on top of the $3 fee for not using one of their ATMs. Lame.

Yoooo that’s so lame. I just use my own ATM. At least I would if I had money to withdraw, but if I did and I used an ATM I could totally relate....

I moved and never bothered to switch to a bank here because we do so much electronically now, but Ill be damned if I need cash. To bypass this I discovered you can withdraw $100 cash at Walmart when you use your debit card at the checkout line. no fees there

A bad season in Utah is still better than a good season most other places. This was my first season here and there was so much whining about how bad it was, meanwhile I'm like woohoo groomers that are made of packed pow instead of rain snow and broken dreams. HMU if you want someone to ski with I'll be at Park city and Brighton next season. I suck at park, but I sort of know my way around here by now.

LOL I live in KY this will be the best season Ive ever had even if it only snows 12 inches the whole winter hahahahahahahahaha

I lived in TN for 3 years. I think it snowed maybe twice the whole time I was there. When it did the locals flipped out like they didn't know what to do with the white stuff.

basically the same response here haha

I'm tired of mountain biking. All the group rides are shutting down since it's not prime bike season anymore, and yet skiing is still 3 months away. Also I got plantar facitis from doing too much walking in crappy shoes in Vegas and now my cardio is back to being crap since I couldn't be on my feet for the last 2 weeks.

tis’ the season to start layering, getting new ski set ups, and pissing yourself every time it gets one degree closer to freezing temp.... hallelujah mfs’

Well it better hurry up. Its been humid and 80° the last two days here

Well, the PNW sometimes gets is seasonal act together. It’s rallying right now! Stupid boyfriend had to tell me it had already snowed where he is....

How late is too late? Context - my boyfriend has an 8pm curfew as per some legal things. He went to his friends house at 8pm and now it's 5am and he isn't home. I tried calling him twice and he didn't answer and now I'm extremely worried and can't go back to sleep. He's never not come home. I'm moderately freaking out.

Has he made it home yet?

If thats way out of his norm to be spontaneous like that and if the legal stuff says hes gotta be in his own residence by 8 then yeah Id worry too. Do you have the friends #? Is it close enough for you to drive by and see if his cars there?

Nope nope and nope. He doesn’t have a car and I don’t have his friends number. He usually comes home pretty late. Sometimes midnight-2am but two weeks ago he was out until at least 5am. He always comes home though or answers his phone. I’m more or less worried that he is in jail, the hospital, dead, etc.

Yeah. He was walking home from the bar and got cold/tired soooo he slept in a barn down the road. I picked him up and now he is sleeping...

What is up with mountain bikers? I've gone to probably 4 different women's only skills clinics (one just this weekend) and one of the things we usually work on is jumps. Everyone is always super stoked to learn how to jump. Even the older ladies. Yet when the post ride socialization happens and I bring up hitting jumps on skis or a snowboard everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. They all definitely ski (or board) because this is a ski town, yet for some reason jumping on skis = crazytown, but jumping on a bike = fun and accessible. It makes no sense to me at all. Some of these women are seriously badass bikers but they're like "oh I don't hit jumps, I like to ski trees and backcountry." Meanwhile 20minutes earlier on a bike "jumping is so fun, I can't wait to get better at it!" WTF?

Someone please explain this to me.

That doesn't make much sense to me. I would think fluffy frozen water would hurt less when you crash. And you're wearing more clothes = more padding

Ladies I’m out here in jersey and the weather seems to be warming up not cooling down!!! I just want the cool weather to drop and get ready to ski! What gives with ma nature? On the flip side my bf and I got a super good deal on tix in December for Mount Snow. So I’d love to meet any one who goes there. Think Snow ppl!!!

Just bought Armada bibs and .3 seconds after pressing buy I realized I'm quitting my job shortly. HA whatever though.
