ok im a big mofo - 6'5, 240 lb, and im looking for something thats 75% pow, 25% booters.

so whats more stable? 189made'ns or 190 gots?

i know madens are wider & longer, but are gotamas stiffer? i know neither is stiff, but im talking the difference between stupidly soft and soft.

id also consider ants/vcts/?? if the price is right.

The gots are definately a bit stiffer than seths, so possibly are stiffer than made'ns aswell.

May not be much in it.

Made'Ns are not a burly ski at all, they define the term "noodle." Definitely go for the Gotamas, those are a super fun ski in the 190.

Gotama! I've heard that the made'n is like they say, a "noodle." I've skied the Gotama in waist deep snow and it was amazing.

k2's pow skis (seth and madens) are both pretty soft. Gotamas are classic volkl: pretty stiff, but responsive enough

Gots really aren't stiff. Especially if the dude is 6'5" 240#

Dudewhomadethethread: If you are set on one of these, go with the Gots. If not, definitely look at the ANTs and 190 VCTs. However, note that the ANTs have less sidecut and are much stiffer, so you have to actually work them.

the gots are a sick ski, but if u want a 75% pow ski check out some lower profile skis like kingswoods or capitals...ask iggyskier about them

my gots feel mantra stiff almost. a touch softer.

i wouldnt go any shorter than the 190 as it is and im 5'7" 135lbs. im using it as a pow/charging/hucking ski though.

i would never catogorize the gotamas as noodly or soft. good medium flex. deffinately a shitload stiffer than maden(handflex).

190s might be a little small if you charge everything. next years 197 could also work. 190s will obviously be easier to throw around.

im really looking at madens 7 gots (now just gots) because theyre pretty common and easy to get cheap.

if i was made of moneyid get some iggys or kingswoods.

or get someone to make me a 205cm 135-110-125 twins that i'll mount a couple of centimeters behind centre.

oh, a man can dream

I guess Ill write about this.

I've skied: 183 gotama, 189 kahunan (same ski, different topsheet as made'n), and 189 SV.

189 Made'n: this skis is very soft, very round flex. For powder I can see it being fun, but you are a pretty big guy. you will overpower this ski alot.

189 SV: I liked this ski.....but it wasn't what I wanted for everyday. I could over power it too easily. Could have been the +4 mount, but ski just didnt do it for me. too turny, tip dive. it was just ok.

183 gotama: I rode these AT, mind you. I felt this ski was as stable as the 189 sv, but you have the remain foward on it. the tail is short due to the mountin point and the twin is huge, so there isnt a lot of tail. at speed I like it about the same as the SV, but it was better in tighter spots too.

the 190 will of course ski longer.

you are a big guy, though.

out of these 3, I would get the 190 gotama.

But - there are better skis out there, IMO.

191 Ants seem like they would be great. They are light, but are more than capable of charging and floating in pow.

Mojo 105. Head makes some bomb ass skis right now.

189 Squads. not very jib-oriented, but these skis fucking rock. You are tall enough to get the 194 too, but the 194 is stiff. seriously stiff.

ummm...

on3p. the 190 octogon would be sick, but you'll have to wait awhile for it to come out.

if I were you, get the ants. as of yet, ive only heard of one person not loving them and it was cause they were too soft!! Granted...this guy also enjoys skiing on some 190 igneous 270!!! Fats, which have a turn radius of about 70m (translation - no turning at all).

Ok, the maden is soft, but no noodle. i have 179's and they kick ass. They are soft, but they should be they are a pow ski. The gots are also fairly soft i rode a 183 but If I had to choose I thought the maden is a better , more fun ski.

I wouldn't catogorize the Vicious as gnarly, stiff, or good for straightlining everything, but its a good all arounder for lighter people. Even for me at 135lbs it was floppy in soft alta crud. Although I tested the 179, not the 189. It does everything good, but nothing great or impressive. Landings are stable, its ok through the bumps, pretty good in the trees, good in the powder, ok in the crud. I thought they were awesome until I got on my BROs. After skiing the BROs, the Vicious simply can't compare as an all around-do everything ski.

The 189 is definitely stiffer than the 179.

IMO, anyone weighing in close to or less than Seth himself (155ish) is good to go on a 189 Vicious. If he can ski them like he does, they should be sufficient for anyone else in that weight range.

However, once you start putting bigger people on them, you start getting mixed reviews. Some people still love them and others don't. I, at 190ish, find them to be a bit soft for mobbing and a bit to turny, but that's just me.

Bottom line, I think a dude that's 6'5" 240# will totally overpower 189 Made'ns, 189 Vicious, and possibly even 190 Gots assuming he has any kind of skiing background and power in those big legs.

Yea, but the lesser tail makes that a loooooong ski. Having a ski that long depends alot on where he lives, what he skis, and how he skis.

out of the original two, i'd go with the Gotamas... but as said, there are tons of other skis and better skis out htere

True. I'm assuming he lives somewhere outwest if hes skiing 75% pow. He could always mount on the FS line, or a few cm forward of that also-for park. ANTs might me right on spot though.

BTW-they measure 3cm short this year. that shouldnt be the case next year.

There are plenty of people who can overski a made'n. Perhaps not too many around here, but there are plenty.

I can make a half-circle with them by using my hands. Maybe that's not soft to you, but to me that is just beyond ridiculous.

oh yes yes yes yes yes i knew it was true i knew it! the Hulk is real!

i'm done this isn't going anywhere. Got's are definitely stiffer, that's the point. However, I enjoy skiing the Made'ns more than the got's, that's my preference.

The Big Daddy's are 125mm underfoot next year and only come in a 191, so that may be a bit too much ski if he's looking at Made'Ns. That, and they are pretty damn stiff!

i was also looking at ants & supermojos, but it just seems athey arent as easy to get cheaply as made'ns and goats are.

squads are prolly out, cos last time i checked, those things are WEAPONS! id like to not get my arse handed to me thanks.

well to be honest, im surprisingly shithouse but i think that can be put down to me only having about 30 days on snow in my life - im doing my 1st season this year & id prefer something i can grow into

nah i actually live in australia, intending to go to america/europe/japan. im just a fat ski fetishist. ive already got 188 03 bcs that im gonna mount with freerides (thanks seanpistol)

i totally agree with this. im riding 179's this year, and theyre definitly a good ski, but im about the same stature as seth, 5'10 and 155lbs exactly. obviously my skiing isnt remotley near seths skill, but i can definitly overpower and flex those skis really well and easily. i probably shoulda gone with the 189, but now i know. it seemed ridiculous at the beginning of the season, but dont let the look of the size intimidate you.

as for the original topic, it sounds like you need some ANT's. thats what id say for mass ski production, but you got some serious options with custom ski makers. kingswood, igneous, capital you name it. scottybob also makes probably the most customizable skis on the planet, but those are tele skis.
