What trail would people like to see Stowe's park on next season?

It is up for debate and discussion at Stowe this summer, actually a meeting happening about it this week I think.

I pose this question to anyone who has had the chance to session there and who will be there at least one time next season.

We have the chance to decide where their park will be, and even what will be set up from month to month (to an extent).

Please chime in.

and its not like we actually have any input on this.... might as well post this shit in regionals

You can help influence where we go, if ya'll voice your opinion it could help, because you buy the passes/tickets and support the effort. I want to let the powers that be know that parks are important to any resort, look at Mt Snow. We all know Main St didn't work, so would you like to see it back on Tyro? or other suggestions, I'm asking for your help/influence to better the parks for you. I'll let you talk amoung yourselves

on a serious note i dont even know any of the trail names at stowe but anything that is longg, melllllow and easily lappable? Does such a trail exist?

i have no idea if a trail lik ethis exists...maybe tyro? i dont know though...kind of steep and windy...but possibly better than where it was this past year. dedicate all of spruce to park!!!!!

i dunno...id say probably tyro...like where it was before? it seems more lappable.no idea tho.

ya cause liek... call me a pussy but the parks I enjoy the most are FLAT haha

i like having to bomb straight into jumps full speed, knowing that as long as I don't check I will have the perfect speed. And of course having a flatter trail allows for a super sick rail line . I just wana pop on my headphones and flow through for a good 10 minutes , spinning on and off everything , hit a couple jumps , have a blastt

i agree with you on that...nothing too steep. i hate when jumps are on a really steep line. same with rails. something medium sloped...

I completely forgot about that stuff, where's it at?

I think Tyro is good - last season 06/07 the large park was there and it was a hell of a lot better than Spruce. Not too steep, and at the end before the traverse to North Slope it gets flat, the rails were there and that was dope. Plus lapping was better beacause you could bomb down to Tyro then get over to North Slope in the same run. The triple is killer though.

having a park on that trail on spruce sucked. I say either have all the parks on spruce, or none, cause it's a huge pain in the ass to get over to spruce (Yes, it is only one lift ride away but its still annoying). north was the only park worth skiing this past season.

with that in mind, north was mad crowded. I've said it before ,but it was sketchy and dangerous if you wantedf to hike stuff on north. espically those first jibs caues you had to hike into the landing of the jumps. it sucked, and I got yelled at/almost hit a LOT. and I was careful and had a spotter most of the time! with that said, make north a small(er?) park. unless you can go further down the trail, then I think you should take a line out of north slope in order to have more room and more flow. last season was my first season at stowe, so I didn't know what tyro was like. it's a pretty mellow slope, so I think it'd be good for a medum park or a rail garden? to be honest, I dont know where I'd put the "big" park. I didn't really explore spruce much but maybe there's another trail over there to put a bigger park on? I'm having trouble thinking of somewhere to put a big park on mansfield.

I think the most important thing is to have a park staff to keep the features in shape and to change the features up often. if that happened next season, then I'd be happy with leaving the park on north and maybe tweaking the big park on spruce. I had fun on north slope it just couldve been swiched upa nd kept in better shape most of the time. so yeah I say keep the featueres in shape and change the park up a lot more than anything.

can anyone think of a trail on mansfield that you could just lap straight off the triple or off some lift? a trail you could hit features right off the lift? I'm a little drunk and really tired so I'm having trouble. I dont know if it's possible, but i Think starting a park further up the mountian would be dope. more features and less bombing down the hill to get to the features. last season the whole 10min chair ride to 3 min trail ride to 30second lap killed any momentum I would have between laps.

I'm 99.9% sure we will not be on Spruce, (maybe a small Park). I'm looking to relocate the Large Park, Tyro (old Lg Park trail) has worked and it allows for more options/longer runs when lapping. Would going back there (Tyro) put us back on track?

It would be a start, best thing that could happen to get Stowe back on track would be for the management there to realize how big parks really are and how many pass holders session them.

That's the reason Mount Snow just dedicated like a 4th of theit mountain to parks. And the reason you will see that being done a lot in the coming years.

Tyro would be legit for next season.

oh now i know what trail Tryro is.... the old park run was SO much better. I forgot about that. Just curious how come you guys decided to move it?

UPDATE: Had a meeting today, I was able to take this thread into the meeting and refer to the fact that this is what the public wants, guess what, it worked. I don't have a solid answer yet and don't want to make claims I can't keep but Tyro is back on the table and in serious consideration, looks like all the parks may move back to Mansfield, even the pipe, all thans to you. I had a message from someone who didn't belive this was the way to go about getting things, but in my 15 yrs grooming and 12 yrs manager/park builder, this worked very well. Big thanks again to Enlighter for thinking ahead and starting this. I'll keep ya'll up to date as things happen, again no claims but looking really promising.

Nice!!

Tyro was the perfect spot for a park. It's easy to lap, and you can hit that and North Slope in the same run. It's also an awesome pitch for how it was set up in past years (jump line on top, rails on the mellower slope on bottom). Also, when there's no park on Tyro, it's exactly the same as the runs to the right and left of it, who's names I don't remember. But having it be a regular groomer just creates too many similar trails on that side of the mountain.

I don't think anyone that rode Stowe's parks this year will complain with putting it back on the Mansfield side!

Kurt, you're the man. I wish Sugarbush would do something like this, this is why I'm switching to Stowe and Bolton next year.

that's awesome. thanks for hearing us out.

do you think there's gonna be a bigger park crew next year or anything like that? moving the park is good but again, I think a huge huge huge step would be getting a bigger park crew and more cats to grom stuff. half (at least) of the problem last season was the lack of a crew and cats to groom stuff and move things around...

I'm pushing to improve as much as I can with staff, new rails/boxes and being back on the old park terrain (I hope), my instinct is that fuel may squeeze the budget a bit, we'll see.

This might sound stupid , but I think Upper and Lower Hayride would be sick for the park, and seeing how Mt Snow is making a whole face a park, Stowe needs to step it up, so why not make the park on a huge trail? also it would be great to have the park there, cause on a pow day you can ride a little bit of park then jump in to the woods right when upper hayride ends, that would be an epic park to pow trail

west coast style step-up.....

flat down box designed for 450s...

s rail....

tall uprail...

gap rail....

hahaha that would be sick to have a bunch of little jibs on.

we need some decent sized jumps and a rail line. Something you can really play on and mix up your run with. We dont need three different options of jumps ranging from tiny to medium with rails right in the landing. Look at the USopen course...its got flow...it doesnt have to be that big. In general I'd want like 6 rollers 4 which will be big enough to have a 30-45ft jump option with rails on the other rollers which act as landings for them. The end of the season things started to come together but everything was too crampt.

either slap it back on tyro or put it on one of the trails over on spruce. and put the pipe back where it used to be

How about just one jump line that doesn't require stopping in between each hit, like a nice 35, to 40/45, and a nice floaty 55 at the end... Watch any PC edit for shaping techniques.... they have that shit on lock.

agreeed!

i think the north slope park wasnt intended to be the big park, it rained right during the original building of the spruce park. put a mini park under the ganjdola, and the main park on tyro. do it

Again, please refer to "Stowe park riders unite" It says that Tyro will again be the Lg Park, lower Standard will be the Pipe, N. Slope will be Med Park, Midway surface lift will be Sm Park.

We do not need to debate what trail to go to, the decision has been made.
