Arguments kinda wack, this is a new market that wasn’t really reached into before, being homemade ski pants. People like the idea of putting their dollar to skiers like ourselves, and getting unique gear.

go into any store ski store, nothings changing. You still got the same old ski pants and jackets that haven’t changed for 10 years, mainstream nothing is different and won’t be different. Newer brands are popping off but the goal isn’t to sell at REI, they just want to sell enough for afford skiing.

But to see a new thing going on is a good sight to see, would I buy any of them? Probably not, but still cool seeing people gettin creative out there.

perfectly put

you happened to diss some of the most popular pants makers and didn't expect anything in return

It’s so fuckin easy to hate nowadays, especially when you don’t know the full picture. I get some people may not like the design, but if even a fraction of you ever met Vic (woofbiz) owner I guarantee you you wouldn’t say shit to him. Design and personal opinions alone aren’t enough of a reason for me to talk a bunch of shit about someone’s hard work. Not to mention he’s one of the illest mfs out there, unconditionally hype and always stoked on every single person with skis on. They might not be for everyone, but the uneducated hate is a lil much for me.

skinny pants won’t catch on unless a crew wearing them makes an influential enough video

I don't think someone needs to be "educated" to make their dislike of ugly pants legitimate lol.

They'll come back eventually. They're harder to pull off but people like Khai Krepela and Rob Heule made them look good.

Used to wear skinny pants and attempted to dress in Khai Krepela style sophomore/junior year of high school. Around 2017-2018, thought it was the dopest at the time.

There are definitely plenty of people in skiing that pull off/have pulled off skinny pants, I wanted to be one of them and quickly realized I could not.

Maybe educated was the wrong word for it, meant more looking at the bigger picture than just the pants

Let’s be honest, no one rocked the tri color pants. And saga pants aren’t really that baggy. I got some older XL ones that fit great, got a lil bag but compared to parachute pants they’re skinny jeans

I saw them a bunch but that still doesn't really disprove anything, people have always tried to wear the most ridiculous shit and stand out from other skiers. Thug era shit was absurd, saga era shit was absurd, hesh is absurd. Pants nowadays aren't different, everyone just got older and are now looking at kids the same way our parents looked at us when we were wearing 4xl jibberish and clashing the shit outta colors. It's honestly the most consistent thing about skiing "culture".

Everyone can act like they're above it and some people have never fucked with that stuff but it's been around forever just not in the form of stuff people grew up wearing, which is why I'm super confused how anyone is "mad" about it or hates on it lol

2012-2016 is probably the worst period for skiing fits

This thread is hilarious. Not gonna pretend like I'd rock the fluorescent rainbow pants but it's worth noting that woofbiz also makes plenty of pants with muted colours, so it seems a bit unfair to pick the most flamboyant pants (which are probably 1of1s) to make your point. If it became a larger trend of people wearing super bright multi-coloured pants then that would be a different conversation. However, what we're talking about is actually a pretty small number of brands that make a range of different pants, some more flamboyant than others. It's hard to deny that a lot of the more mainstream outerwear companies have been making a lot of the same shit for years now, so it makes sense that we're seeing a lot more "interesting" outerwear. I appreciate that people are being more creative, even if there are gonna be some misses. I'm not really bothered by some small brands making a small number of pants that I'm not personally a fan of.

I agree it’s wack to hate on the person behind the brand but it’s a pants company, of course people are gonna hate on the pants if they don’t like them.

I was guilty… haha

There was a small movement of this for sure, the east coast had a good phase of some wearing skinnier pants.

You're right.

I think one other point is that people generally develop a more personal sense of style through their twenties (not everyone), one that isn't connected as much to what's popular or cool at the time. So they'll hate on trends more if they go against that sense of style. Younger kids will just wear what their favourite skiers wear or whatever's popular in their scene

I still wear skinnyish pants, more like normal fitting probably, but will never go back to anything else. I am frozen in time in my 2014 style. Had baggy stuff until then realized it looked kinda stupid. my goal is to not stand out though and just have a fun time skiing.

Every trend that comes and goes people will look back and think it looks stupid or if you are older you probably already think it's stupid.

All these pants are valid. Especially at 1/1 production. literally only one person needs to like em for it to sell out. Shout out to everyone making something they like and all their friends that support them.

Agree! its more than about the pants ig. its a community of homies supporting homies...

Dude I have tried this and be very careful about falling because you will not slow down AT ALL. That rubber slicker material slides on snow just as well as your skis, maybe even better. The mountain is just one humongous slip n slide

The swamp factor on the Grundens can’t be good lol.

I think the parachute pants trend is comically bad. Then I look at what we were wearing back in the day, which was comically bad. I do like the trend of smaller / local brands tho.

I feel like things used to be simple…

you would pay a little too much money for some basic ski pants made by some kid in Taiwan that were three sizes too big for you, and you would like them, but for some reason a bunch of trust fund kids decided they were gonna grab their dead grandmother’s typewriter out of the basement and start throwing together what they call “pants”

I fucking hate parachute pants. I'm conflicted though because skiing is all about expression and I'm sure the generation ahead of me thought Tall Tees and G-Suits were stupid looking too.

The look stupid in hindsight imo. Thought they were the shit at the time. Don't like the current trends but kids will be kids ya know.
