"The ideal set up by the Party was something very huge, terrible and
glittering — a world of steel and concrete of monstrous marching and
terrifying weapons — a nation of warriors and fanatics, marching
forward in perfect unity, all thinking the same thoughts, wearing the
same clothes and shouting the same slogans, perpetually working,
fighting, triumphing, persecuting—three hundred million people all with
the same face."
I am not in the least disputing the fact that every nation needs and army or means to defend itself. What I am disputing however, is your unbelievable claim that we as people should not voice our opinions. Humans have lived in those governments in the past. Perhaps you would be more at home in a Feudal system.
The ability of free speech is one of the founding principles of our nation, and one that has set us apart, and I believe above and beyond, other nations at its time of conception. What you seem to wish is that all voices of dissent and opposition to your ideals be silenced. When the connection between the voices of the people and the government that rules them is severed, most commonly, the government begins to amass its power and freely exerts its control over people. Its not because of any administration that might be running it, its just the way these institutions naturally run if unchecked.
Lastly, thanks for the attempt at personal insult, it was endearing and touching. If you want to at the very least impart the visage of intelligence and thinking upon others that read your writing, you should consider dropping your methods in the future. Personal attacks really dont lend much credence to your arguments, and only further your self-induced image of an immature loudmouthed asshole.
