What do you think about LINE skis', how do they compare to other skis', are they good quality, woth buying?

!!!WANTED!!! Twin Tip ski's 180cm +

heres my problem with LINE: great company I mean they started the independent twin tip movement but I feel like they have not changed the tech behind the skis. The only differnce in the last few years has been the graphics. If you look at companies like armada. K2, salomon, faction, 4frnt,and such they are all either devolping new tech thats usually stronger and more resilent or lighter weight so look around a bit. And this might be cuz they spent a lot of tie on this new binding and it hasn't been working out so take a closer look before you buy

the magazine is called 'POWDER' cool! - my stupid non-skiing friend

pre-drilling alot of their skis, trying to get people to buy their horribly underdeveloped pivogy binding was a bad move. I dont see a huge amount of problems with current bindings, so I dont see any reason for the pivogy.

they've learnt from the binding and are not pushing it they know better. hell their reps were telling kids not to ride the binding last year. the skis function great...tend to have a delamming problem but line will take care of that without hesitation. they will also replace skis due to blown edges...no other company in the industry will do that. worth the money. the company will start to come back with new technologies and such...just give it a little more time. you forget line isn't a huge ski company that has racing skis to finance the company completely or multi-millionaire to fund it. karhu backs line, but stills leaves the company to work on its own...just prevents it from going under.

I think Line does not make good skis for doing anything BUT freestyle. Their skis are great for people that never leave the terrain park and halfpipe or even their own backyard but for people like me that do that and other stuff like just cruising and going through the glades they are not good skis. I was considereing getting some 1260's but my local shops said they were all the same ski exept for the mothership but with different graphics. He said they do not turn well and make it very hard to carve with them. On the other hand the 1080's are a great ski for the park and pipe and the backyard too but mix that with the ability to go out and have some fun in the powder or just all over the mountain. I think that in time Line will develop better skis and become a greater company like Solomon or Rossi.

Ignorance can be key here. Ride them, find out for yourself....

1 person may have a bad experience, so everyone has a closed mind?

to me, i've supported them forever, and they are key to the industry, and make amazing boards.

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom

ya, come on guys...support line, THEY SUPPORT YOU.

yeah this line stuff is bullshit. I ride lines and they rip in the park, pipe and backcountry. If lines dont work for you then you suck.

-yes, line skis are all the same, ignoring the side cuts, width, radius, length, core wood, tail height, graphics, and base materials. i guess that would make a pair of ARVs the same as 720s.

-yeah line made a marketing mistake with the bindings, but every company makes one.

-some of the skis are differant this year, there is now a pollard pro, 2 versions of the darksides (carbon + titanium), 2 new skis (fx.7 carbon + titanium, these are the darksides but stiffer + diff. graphics)also, the 1260 has carbon fibers added on the top of the core to increase ollie power

-yeah, there are new companies like 4frnt and armada, but they are just comming out and dont have the history of line

-yeah salomon has been tested more, but how often do they upgrade their skis, every 2 years or so. same with k2, dynastar, or rossi. they've only really changed their skis every 2-3 years.

(the only major change in the 1080 is spaceframe, 2 yrs ago)

(twinboards have been the same since the red ones (3 yrs.), only last year did they make the trouble maker)

(rossignol had the same powair for 2-3 yrs. and the scratch is in it's 2nd year)

(k2 has had the enemies for years, the pe's + pistols are in their 2nd year)

not trashin on these companies, but you cant say line hasnt upgraded, just look at the orange or white 1260s compared to the ninja ones, or the differant skogens, the durability has increased, as has the all mountain ability

^exactly, the industry progresses slower than they would like you guys to believe. But line makes sick skis. I rode the skogens for a season two years ago, and they killed it everywhere. Super light and quick all over the mountain, killed it in park, even did 3 feet of powder well, and I had the bindings mounted foreward. My only complaint would be the lightness of the ski allows it to get thrown in crud, and it doesn't hold an edge well in the pipe. Don't forget the mo-ships have a titanium band in them to keep them stiff. Line=cool company, support them.

I like to look at it this way. LINE has been around longer than the other independent companies (Armada, 4FRNT). Line's had... how many years? to develop their technology. I've been riding Line for over three years now, and every year the skis have gotten better. Three years ago you'd have every reason to bitch about the quality of the skis. Now you don't have any reason to. Line's park models absolutely kill it where they're designed to, and the Motherships, Darksides and EP Pros kill it everywhere. If you don't think Lines are good for anything besides park, go watch Eric Pollard's section in Focused and tell me what you think.

sure, they are a company that supports the newschool movement, and i care about that, but i dont want a ski that falls apart and is cheaply made and over priced like lines when i can get a nice ski like the pe, msp, armadas or something like that. they do have a nice warrenty but so do most companys and id rather have a ski that will hold up for a full season or two.

'Ski Patrol has no problem with us being here, as long as they dont know about it!'- Chris Colins

they are great skis as far as skiing. super light + good for tricks n stuff. but they fall apart pretty quik my scogens delamed bad after 6 days of riding but i got a new pair from the warrenty so its all good. the ones i have right now could fall apart at any moment. there like a time bomb

dont get it twisted

i relly think it is a good company, i have only had one problm with the ski and they replaced it with out any questions or anything. from my expirence my lines are very good in and out of the park.

I really like my 1260's. I've had them for 2 years and the only thing wrong is a few sratches but what ski doesnt get those? I can take them ANYWHERE on the mountain and they perform great. I haven't skiied a whole lot of skis but out of the skis I have used my lines have handled the best.

Coming Soon...

hey, it's been a while since I've been on here... but this is a great thread- no hacking on each other, no calling names. Maybe it's because winter's coming...

I have the Darksides with the sketch on the tail, and also Machete 69s. If I had the choice, I'd ride the lines over the Volants. That takes some grit saying, because it seems as though the Volants should be better skis. The darksides will honestly take me anywhere the machetes will...

that's enough for my first post in a long time. I like line.

SkiRoundtopRu...

You obviously know as little about the skis as the people at the shop. The 1080 is a ski that was made for everyone, it wasn't made to excel in an area like LINE skis are, they're meant to ride everywhere equally as well, which means they're not going to perform as well in the park as say the Line 1260, but they'll probably perform better on the groomers. That's why LINE has the carving models, park models, and pow models, it's because most people out there are passionate about one area and don't worry that much about how a ski 'performs' in another area.

blackcat, the Pivogy binding would be incredible if it didn't have it's flaws. I mean, you could buy 5 pairs of LINE skis and only need one pair of bindings, why? Quickmount man, that would save people so much money. Also, the ways you can eject from the binding in harsh falls can save you your ACLs, something you might want to keep if you want to continue skiing.

My 2 cents, LINE is a kickass company, I'd buy their skis if they made the Eric Pollard Pro in a 175-178cm version, but for this year I'd ride my 175 ARVs because they're fat, light, and the perfect size for me. I'll keep supporting LINE in the ways I can though, my backpack, clothing, videos, whatever, I want to see LINE succeed as they have what is needed to do so.

^^ didn't read all the reply's ^^ but here's what the Line rep told us when he came in to the shop. The reason the whole binding thing isn't being pushed this year is because the company that manufactures their bindings is a home-grown, family-run company. The father (who basically runs the company) died and there have been significant problems with the continuance (

Donkification.

'tend to have a delamming problem'

^^BTW it's a bullshit, I talked to UK Line rep on the phone few days ago and he said there's NOT a single delamination complaint in UK for past 2 years. Call up your local Line rep and ask them how many Line skis were bought & how many were delamed annualy, then you make the decision.

And as for bindings- Line said their binding manufacture was hit badly by SARS in China, so right now they're working on finding another plastic mold manufacturer & working on making few changes to it.

a shorter or longer promodel? haha they make the ski for the pro. not the comsumer. they just put out the pro models to the consumers so thye can have extra revenue from the pros name.

Line are the shit they're lightweight and more durable than most people think

my brother hit the big air

I just made a thread with this, but I'll copy and paste it here.

This is my story about my expereince with Line skis last season:

I bought a pair of brand new '03 Skogans from my shop. I wanted to keep them in perfect condition and lay off the rails with them until next season, so I just hit jumps and rode alot of pipe with them. 2 weeks after I bought them and about 6 or 7 days on snow, they started to delaminate under the boot after an all-day pipe session.

I went back to the shop, they said i did it on a rail, so they wouldn't warrenty them. I was like 'No, it was in the pipe, look no rail marks', and then they were like 'well we're not sending them back for you'. As it turned out, I was on my way to see my girlfriend in Vermont and thought I'd just stop by the Line headquarters in Burlington. I talked to some chick on the phone first, and she was like 'we don't have any Skogans left in the factory, but when we find some we can mail them to you. Where are you from?' And so I told her Edmotnon, Canada, and she was like, 'Oh, we don't deal with Canadian customers, you have to call Odysee Sports in Montreal' So I called them and they were like 'Well we MIGHT warrenty them, but we'd have to see the ski and if there's any rail damage, we won't warrenty them.' By this time I'd already hit a few rails because my skis were already wrekced, I wasn't going to wrekc them anymore, right? So I told the guy that, and he was like, 'yeah, well, we'll see. I doubt it, but you can spend 100 dollars to send them here and then have them sent back to you.'

Needless to say, I now have a pair of rock/rail skis for this year and am buying a pair of either Armadas or 4Frnts. I know for a fact that 4Frnt would have warrentied them, same with K2 and probably many other companies...

Line: Never again!
