Aw I'm super sorry you feel that way!
It was actually a very well-calculated decision to make the awards a total chaotic gong show. You see, we didn't want to re-create something like the powder awards, as they have their thing and we wanted to have ours. The judges were hand selected for their unique vision on skiing, and really did give a shit. Charles Boileau, Mike Burard and Anthony B. are all good people, and you couldn't ask for better judges. They had a very organized criteria for judging, and were really looking at all aspects.
The goal with all of it was to keep it loose and fun. Something like the powder awards is well-polished and perfect, but do you really want to see another version of that? Personally I don't. I wanted it to be the NS awards and be a rediculous spectacle of craziness that encouraged everyone to do what skiing is supposed to be about: Having fun.
There are way too many people in the industry of skiing taking themselves WAY too seriously, and I really think things need to lighten up. So that was my take on it, and I guess not everyone will agree.
Jakers I'm super sorry you weren't impressed, I was stoked to meet you and I wish that you could have felt the same energy as I did just getting together with other skiers and celebrating all these wonderful films that came out.
