its starts from an early age now a days. Kids cartoons/movies no longer have any hints of realistic violence and adult situations. Kids are no longer allowed to rough house at school and certain games like "tag" and such are being removed from the schools. The only thing that seems to not be soft is video games are becoming ultra violent but it seems new age parents keep a very strict watch on video game use of kids. Pixar movies are the most popular kids movies now a days and they are very meek and have no rough around the edges. I can not even imagine how much of pussies this current young generation will turn out to be. bit of a rant, my bad.
 
are you kidding me? too many kids are playing MW3/Battlefield/Black ops/etc games, usually on live, and are disrespectful as fuck, de-sensitized to violence, and potty mouthed little shits

truth, but a decent amount of western kids have enough drive to walk into schools with tech 9's and glocks and murder innocent kids. Western kids are pretty hard it would appear
 
maybe its just the parenting that is fucking wretched now a days. It seems like this current generation is going to grow up without any sort of life experience. Its almost unthinkable to compare the group of kids in "stand by me" to this current generation of kids.

Maybe its just everything has to have a certain level of safety now a days. Its almost impossible to imagine a kid to have a BB gun now a days or maybe a bow and arrow.

i think it's a combination of the two. they are less sensitive to seeing violence, and are super disrespectful because they are behind the protection of the screen. if they had grown up playing tag and dodgeball and real games with real people like we did, they would realize you can't go around being a dick cause you will get your shit handed to you. i don't care what people claim, but being bullied online is no substitute for being bullied in public. you won't keep your friends in real life if you have no respect, but there is always someone to play with online. in that way these kids are soft.
 
yeah but i bet nearly all of those kids dont act anything in real life like they do behind their xbox headset, the kids i know that act really tough and badass on xbox and online are the biggest pussies and really lazy when it comes to things that matter

that does not really mean they are not "soft", it just means they run their mouth to a tv screen with a headset on with no real repercussion. I would wager a good portion of the punks playing xbox live and running their mouth could not even cut firewood. Fucking lawn darts are considered too dangerous now a days for kids to play, what the fuck....
 
My brother told our MOM to "Fuck off" the other night. I've never been more ashamed of anyone than when he did that.

and it's times like that when i personally believe physical punishment is appropriate. i would never disrespect my parents like that and i love them to death. but they also were not afraid to spank me, or yank me by the arm to the bathroom and put soap in my mouth if i ever spoke to them with even a fraction of disrespect that your brother displayed.
 
Because liberals now claim abuse every time a kid gets spanked. Sorry folks, I mouthed off to my parents a couple times, and when I got spanked, I learned in a bug hurry that mouthing off had consequences, and I did't like them. Lesson learned.

Also to the people above claiming it's the "liberals" fault, please stop bringing politics into every god dam conversation. My mom is liberal and I still got my ass kicked when I fucked up. Both parties now a days are a joke, they like/dislike things just because the other party does or doesn't. Nothing that has happened in this country ( the US) is the fault of one of the specific parties, both fucking suck now.

And the concept of everything comes from the store and from mommies and daddies wallets. Very few kids realize that those eggs and that steak came from a farm and not the super market, or that there's still a lot respect in being a mechanic or a farmer or carpenter or a construction worker, and very few kids have respect for a hard days work, and therefore are soft.
 
I remember being spanked as a child. I definitely learned my lesson from it too. I don't bitch about stuff, I don't have a sense of entitlement, but my brother does and so do many other people I know. It's unfortunate and this will become quite the dilemma over the next few decades.
 
Forget spanking, my dad straight beat the fuck outta me. With that said, the only thing that I see becoming more pussified is sports, which pisses me off. In a couple years the NFL will be two hand touch

This thread is on point OP. respect, discipline, hard work and taking responsibility are not being instilled like they use too and outdoor, rough, semi dangerous activities restricted and it's making kids soft. This will come back to bite us as a society in the ass because lots of our ccompetators (chincoms and Japan for example) are not slipping on these values
 
my mom took my pillow away for 2 weeks once. sleeping without a pillow sucks a lot more than getting slapped on the ass.

it's true though, but it's only because we're becoming more technologically advanced. you could also say WELLLL WTF WE'RE CURING ILLNESS WITH MEDICINE AND NOT LETTING PEOPLE DIE OFF AND THE STRONG SURVIVE. people don't have to ride their bikes across the city anymore to knock on a friends door to see if he's home cause someone's on their dial up internet and his phones are down. you can text, facebook, IM, whatever. is it making us softer? yeah, definitely. people aren't out being physically active, getting dirty, working with their hands. not much can be done though and it's just the natural progression of our lives with technology.
 
agreed, kids are pussies. i cant wait till im a parent, and refuse to buy my kid a helmet and knee pads when he learns to bike. ill physically hurt him when he fucks up. ill let him go wander around the neighborhood getting into trouble, injuring himself, doing stupid things etc. just like humans have been doing for thousands of years. and he;s gonna be the shit and kick all the new age pussy kids asses.

we need to let kids bully each other, i was bullied in elementary school, it drove me to man up and now i can look at those kids that bullied me and laugh at their pathetic, peaked in highschool, even peaked in JH lives. now if a kid gets made fun of for being a pussy, talking weird, whatever it is, and an adult instantly stops it. that kid grows up the first like 12 years of his life being told its ok to be a pussy, you're a winner even though you suck. then when they start to get hints of freedom in JH, and get bullied for the first time without an adult around to stop it, they are mentally fucked and cant handle it, it gets to them extremely deep because they cant handle it. then they fucking kill themselves. shit, a girl near me killed herself over a text message, how pathetic.

so now instead of fighting, kids just go hang themselves to solve their problems. not only that but the ones that survive are growing up into these self entitled, the world needs to wipe my ass, pricks. you think we have a problem with "poor" people mooching off the system and mooching off the man now. wait 10 years, we are going to be fucked. just like the adam carolla video said. we are going from looking at the guy with the 2 million dollar house and saying "wow look at that guy, he worked his ass off and earned himself that lifestyle" to "does he need that house? im living in a trailer and that guys living in a mansion, what a prick. why doesnt he share that with us?" people will literally be afraid to succeed in life, for fear of being ridiculed and looked at as selfish. we are seeing it now, but its only gonna get worse, and looking at todays kids its going to be fucking horrible.

 
If anything I think these influences are going to motivate kids to search for violence/realism. Destructive outside influences are going to hone their curiosity
