Or hiking anywhere outside of the park.  The only time weight is really noticable and has an impact is if you're touring, which I'm going to assume isn't very popular here.  A couple pounds will make a difference for skiing around the mountain, but that's something you can get used to.  But to kind of answer your question, the way to cut down on weight is to get shorter, narrower skis with a light wood or foam core and light bindings like Salomons (or dynafits if you tour and feel secure on them).
