Wow, somebody jump on this! Such a great opportunity, too bad I'm not in the right university program.

Summer and/or Fall. We build the internship around the intern's schedule. Most interns work the first half of the summer, second half, or Fall but some of worked all the way through (like champions).
In regards to living in California for the summer, just do it. It's fairly easy to find a place to live and a cool beach-related job to pay the bills when you're not interning at the office. We try to work a 9-5 at the office but sometimes things come up like going surfing with the Armada crew or going to Mammoth on a Friday.

want. want hard.
not exactly sure what the qualifications are, or how i would go about getting college credit.but the creative writing minor in my back pocket is slowly making its way to the front and causing a massive erection.

seriously considering this. working towards my english degree and this would be an incredible experience. only question i have is the internship paid? my guess is no, and since the college loans are piling up, i really can't move to california and give up a perfectly good job.

damn I go to school in southern california but my time is invested in ACL reconstruction and music degrees... sick opportunity though! somebody hop on this!

any chance you guys will be doing this again next year? I am just a college freshman and even though im going to major in multimedia journalism mass comm. I probably wouldnt have the qualifications to fit what youre looking for yet. If not maybe ill just send my stuff and see where it takes me.

Here's the answers to some of your questions.
Do I need to have a certain major? No. You need to be coherent, responsible, and have a strong work ethic. We had interns from all types of majors. It's amazing what you can get a bachelors degree in these days.
Is this a paid internship? No. However, our last intern walked away with countless swag, a few published articles, and complained about her dorm room being too small to fit everything in it.
Does the credit have to come from a California college or university? No. If you can find a school that'll give you credit, we'll accept it. Most schools require a faculty adviser and an onsite advisor to administer a grade. Hello, I'm Mike. I'm your onsite advisor.
Will you be doing this next year?Yes, we offer internships every summer and fall. This particular summer will be extra fun due to the incredible snow pack at Mammoth, their sick parks, and oh yeah, it's the 40th anniversary of the magazine.
Any other questions?

Do I have to receive college credit for it? I go to the University of Utah and it has passed the deadline for me to be able to receive summer credit. I am from Mission Viejo and will be back in town all summer. I've had experience with the college paper. The internship is appealing especially with trips to Mammoth. However, having college credit as a requirement could be a deal-breaker for me.

Yeah, how about WE interview YOU?

-how much do you make a year, before taxes?

-alright shot out of a cannon.. Oprah, Barbara Walters, your wife. you gotta fuck one, kill one, marry one. GO!

Do you have to be from the US or Canada? If not, do you supply travel arrangements to and from the office?
We accept Canadians, Americans, and everything else. Travel to and from the office is your responsibility though if you live in San Clemente in the summer, biking to work is an awesome activity.

Yes, you need college credit. Speak with your advisor about doing an independent study. find a faculty advisor and you'll be good to go.

Any questions?

Rent isnt that cheap and it only makes it worse by forcing people to get credit for the internship because those credits don't come free. Universites charge for any credits earned.

it seems like a cool opportunity, but living in cali is expensive. Working for free from 9-5 everyday then having to work for money afterward dose not sound that appealing. Maybe try and throw some money or something to make it more affordable.

Yea, but pretty much every major has internship requirements. I have to do like 150 credit hours of internship. Really thinking about applying for this. Might be too much for me to think about this summer though.

The deadline is April 20. In regards to housing, we can help you find something within reason. Also, the internship isn't a 9-5, 5 days a week position. We can work with you on a schedule.

this would be one of the coolest jobs ever if you could. I'm not even out of college yet though. Ski Show? And I haven't and won't be taking English, but thats caused I placed out so that wouldn't be a problem. some lucky kid in or near cali should get on this.

anyone with a journalism major/ english major or communications should jump on this...great opportunity to get into the industry if thats what your interested in.

It's fare to say that you're not going to be the intern and listen to everything the adults around you say.
;-)

you are really dumb for real. oddly enough, people cling to magazines like none other and they aren't going anywhere soon.
as for this internship, i really wish i didn't actually have to make a sizable income this summer. otherwise i would be so down to have a chill summer interning in cali. gotta make it through the next school year...
hell, i might just send in an application. any credits might be worth the lower income but higher awesomeness.

If only I was 10 years younger, in college and lived near Cali.

Let me know when Powder needs an accountant or CFO! haha
