Waking up early

I am tired of laying in bed like a piece of shit until 10-11 am every day that I don't have an early class (5 days a week). I want to start working towards living a better, overall healthier lifestyle, so my goal is to set a time and try to wake up at that time every single day, just to see how I feel after a few weeks. Here's a list of what I want to do to help in achieving my goal:

-Wake up at the same time EVERY day (6:00am)

-Eat better. More fruits/veggies, less meat, less processed foods.

-Exercise daily. It would be ideal to go for a run or go to the gym at 6:00 every morning when I wake up.

-Don't force myself to sleep at night, and don't force myself to stay awake. Simply go to sleep when I get tired.

-Eat lightly at night. Eat a relatively small final meal of fresh low-sugar fruits and veggies (avocados, tomatoes, cantaloupe, etc...).

Here's a link that does a good job of summarizing what i'm going for:

Has anyone on here tried to do anything like this? Constructive criticism would be very helpful.

your going to have to force your self to go to bed early if you want to get up at six cuz my guess is that your going to bed at like one or two now. if you go to bed when you fall asleep your either not going to get up or you will and you will be tired and unproductive all morning until you finally take a nap.

also if your going to workout when you wake up make sure you eat first and give yourself sometime to actually wake up otherwise your going to have a hell of a time working out and you wont enjoy it

The whole thing on experimenting is very true. Ive noticed that when I go to bed KNOWING i have something to do in the morning (class, work, need to be somewhere) I will wake up pretty early on my own without an alarm, and feel totally alert. I know this doesnt apply to most on here but if I smoke a cig right before I go to bed, within about 15 minutes at least, I will wake up feeling terribly groggy. You need to realize though that you need to figure out what works for you. Going vegan might have helped this guy, but it might effect you in a completely negative way. You just need to change things up one at a time and figure out which things are working for you.

I hate waking up early but what I found woke me up and made me feel bomb was going to the gym like you're talking about. If your gym has a pool that's a bomb early morning workout...And if you're really working out in the morning you'll probably be tired enough at night but you might need to do something to make you sleepy if you want to keep up the early waking up.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm definitely not planning on going vegan or vegetarian or anything like that, but eating meat in smaller portions. I can't live without a fat steak every once in a while. But anyways i'll give it a try, see how everything works out for me, and make adjustments along the way.

I only have one class a week this semester, but I try to wake up at 8-9ish every day (later than you want to). Lately I've been staying up really late for some reason and mornings have been hell. I find it's easier if you tell yourself you're going to do something, like wake up early and hit the gym, or wake up early to get first chair at the ski hill. Don't stare at your computer screen at night, as it depletes melatonin levels in your brain, and you'll have a harder time getting to sleep/feeling tired. Read a book or a magazine at night instead. Try to get to bed early or it will fuck up your morning. Coffee helps haha.
