Vail now owns Afton Alps

Wouldn't bee the first double to be thrown at afton. There was a snowboarder going HAM on the last jump last season. He landed a couple double backs and attempted a few double fronts. Dude was nuts.

Yeah it was crazy, he was hucking the flips so hard. There was one dub back attempt where he undershot the jump a little bit and dug his nose into the knuckle. By far the gnarliest crash I've ever seen at afton.

They need to step their game up hardcore. Tow rope hasn't worked all day shjit ton of boxes 2 rails. Jumps are funkin awesome though

that fucking blows, the mailbox and that round rail were $$$. The rails are that down rail and the a frame right? at least there's that burly c box

Ya 10 ft down rail that is set up so steep you hit about 2 feet of it. Then the lip for the a-frame is too flat and throws you into the rail instead of up it. They're blowing it big time. Everyone I talked to out there was severely disappointed (besides the jumps).

I'm sure it will get fixed and get better. If you look at their facebook page there are a lot of people complaining so they know something is wrong. In the mean time, I'm just gonna lap their dope new jumpline all day

holy shit I'll be sure not to do that. Yeah, when I was there and they weren't open... I saw how steep it all was... there will definitely be enough speed.

thanks for the heads up.

Never, I think they hide in secret. Planning about how they will convince people that their park is the best in Minnesota so they don't have to do any work to make the park better to get paid.

I saw them both times I've been there. Granted they were riding not fixing. But at least they got rid of the fucks they had for years

No i've seen them many times. They're out there but theyre super inefficient. They take like a half hour per feature breaking and reassembling the lips. They're super annoying too, but theyre there sometimes

I know, it was technically a joke about how they should have gotten it right in the first place but noooooooo they didn't.

I was there today. they reset the side with the small jumps. They put in more boxes (yay...) and a couple (COUPLE) rails. The boxes are pretty trickable though. And then they moved the jumps closer to the trees and they pushed a pretty fun step up at the bottom. Honestly, I like it. I'll take what I can get

I assume you guys are talking about how they are step downish? I think it again has to do with how steep the run they are on is. They would have to build the landings up an absurd amount to be able to form step up jumps

it's wishful thinking I know. The first jump is stupid though. Something about it.

it'd be better if they put the jumps on that run they had the pre season park on, the one with the magic carpet, or the one directly right of the small jump line. both not as steep so they don't all have to be step downs. Again, wishful thinking.

More of a step up/step over would be fun, yes, but all things considered I think the last two jumps are pretty well done. I was lapping it yesterday and couldn't have had more fun. The bottom two are big enough for a lot of tricks and speed isn't typically an issue. I was impressed.

I've never really hit a step up, except for this side hit from the bottom of a huge knuckle. Step ups are amazing in any form.

If anyone is going out let me know! I have no one to ride with anymore and would be great to meet new people out there.

I'm going friday from 4:30-8:30, my school organized an after school ski trip there. $20 lift ticket and free transport! I'll try to be sportin my safety glasses so you can recognize me.

depends if im working on Friday or not! If I'm not I could probably head out after school, If i do i'll be out Sunday morning for sure!

I know this is early but I'll be out there on Saturday the 1st of February. I have a trip with school that takes me all the way up there (from wisconsin) and a lift ticket for $35. It shall be fun.

Oh and I have a Saga fatigue that's red and grey from a few years ago so you can recognize me

Oh and if your looking for me out at Afton, I usually rock the white pants with the blue and white jacket. I also rock the ar7's.
