I actually know this guy, he coaches the Vail Freeride Team. Vail, being the corporate entity that it is, asks their sponsored athletes to do some pretty lame things. Noah wanted to get inverted during this shoot, Vail wanted the "cool double grab." Is it selling out to do a trick like that when your season pass is on the line? Hmmm. Open question.
Anyhow, I think that the ad campaign says it all when it comes to how fucked up and out of touch Vail is.
The ad in question is a 3 pager, with the first page a wicked BASE jump next to a waterfall. It looks totally cool and I'm guessing it's Angel Falls in Venezuela. The next 2 pages are lame shots of skiing in Vail. The tag line for the base jump is something like Fun? and then for the next 2 pages, "Not as fun as Vail."
Unfortunately for them, the BASE jump looks like a hell of a lot more fun than skiing in Flail, eerrr, Vail.
