Utah Class of 14

i'll throw my 2 cents in here for anyone wondering about the bird/lcc. snowbird is fucking amazing, that being said there are a LOT of downsides. i didn't have to think twice about going bird, since i got a ridiculous deal coaching racing, and i loved being there. as heff said, the vibe is a little more intense than anywhere else, on any given day you'll see guys that film with tgr/msp/pbp up there, just an amazing amount of incredible skiers. i got lucky and hooked up with some local kids early in the season, and got to know a bunch of the alta/bird sponsored guys, being my first year out here it was incredible to ski with them and progressed my skiing absurdly. i also got to know the best spots following those dudes. if you can find the right people to ski with, the bird will be fun in the worst of conditions. it's also incredible having the tram, which takes you straight up 3000 vert, but it's pretty much a no go on pow days, unless you want to wait 30 minutes. the other upside is it has easily the longest season in utah, from november until june, and has been known to stay open till july. all that being said, on pow days, you really are fighting for turns. the first few runs are always rushed, and after that we'd pretty much just go cliff hunting, finding the biggest shit we could with still fresh landings. the way the mountain opens a lot of times though means you can hit lift/area openings right and still get freshies later on, or even a day or two after a storm depending on avy control. really it depends what you're looking for, if you want full on big mountain skiing, the bird is amazing, and will make you a better skier. brighton is sick if you just want a place to go on powdays.

just got taken off the waiting list and put in gateway 806. kinda bummed i'm not in chapel glen with all the newschoolers, but no big deal.

hey i remember seeing something about a muss group in here but i dont really feel like digging through the thread, anyone have any info on that?

Where are the NS'ers? everyone one i meet is going to get a pass at alta/snowbird. I am going the park city route for this season. so who are the other kids that ski park that wanna chill?

right herrr. im in chapel glen 803, 2nd floor. any of you can hit me up for sure, 907-321-9121. im getting a pass to bird and PC.

I think one of my top 5 pow days this last year was at PC. There were untouched, 3-4ft deep trees and even open areas all over jupiter.

I had one of the top 5 pow days of my life at Canyons in early April last year. Got within 5th chair on dreamcatcher and dreamscape after patrol opened them. Lapped with no lines all day. Rode win 2 tele kids who were literally disappearing during their turns, it was epic.

yo a couple of us are in 802 room 51213, doors always open when were around. If your a bird guy, ive got a car and rack so ill be drivin up a lot. Im sure I'll have the occasional PC day too.

so hit us up!

yo i dont live on campus and its my first semester here as well. i live with my bro 2 blocks down from campus. always looking to party and meet some new ppl. hit me up with a pm and we'll chill. lookin to ski pc and alta or the bird this winter

haha hell ya it is, some people call me juneau too. if i met you last night dont be offended if i dont remember your name... i got like 5 girls numbers last night, and i dont remember who any of them were haha. who is this tho?

are the one who cracked their head open and head brain swelling? cuz i heard someone did that longboarding and if it is +vibes, and if that wasent you +vibes on your wreck as well

The Canyons is ill. Fun park, fun vibe, I like it a lot. not as intense as park city at all. Also has some great slack country and easy out of bounds laps if you know what you're doing out there.

I made the transfer from Brighton to Canyons and I love it. Same chill vibe and a dope park. My riding improved so much. Plus season pass holders get rad benefits, 2 nights lodging, free day pass, buddy passes, free hot cocoa all year.... The new lift placements should be sick too.

i'm having such a pass dilemma.

i was thinking snowbird and park city.

but i skied one day at canyons, and loved it.

on the other hand, pc has night skiing.

No that wasnt me with the brain swelling, just a bad cuncussion, cracked hip and some nasty to bone cuts. thanks for the vibes though

sounds terrible. I used to longboard to class with my laptop, backpack, giant art board in a big bag from the dorms. I ate shit one day and fucked up my leg/hip and knocked myself silly, now it scares the piss out of me haha.
