Utah Class of 14

i'm in the same boat as you. I haven't decided for sure if i'm going or not, but im like 90% sure. Is there any kind of transfer student housing? Idk if thats a dumb question or not

To be honest, I don't know anyone living in benchmark or really anything about them. I suggest Sagepoint if you're just looking for a single or something. If you're gonna have a roommate, you might as well just live in Chapel Glen.. All the dorms are nice so you might as well live around kids doing the same shit as you.

isnt chapel glen a freshman housing. I looked it up on the U's housing and it sayings first year students only. Then it said Sagepoint was freshman and second year students.

yeah thats true, chapel is freshman only. and all the housing for males if full unless you get accepted into a living learning community, which i believe put you in sage point. and until those spots get filled theres no waiting list, thats what i was told anyways, but it all worked out for me, i got lucky tho. gateway heights and sage will probably have some spots open up really briefly, so if you have a lap top, id suggest refreshing your housing application page every once in a while through out the day. i did that yesterday becasue i had to have a room somewhere reserved to switch with this international student they put in my roommates room, becasue he didnt have a roommate assigned within a few days of reserving the room. i dont know if theres a person any of you want to room with, but i suggest doing what i did, you can always switch, but they can switch you with some international kid if you meet someone you want to room with but that spot was filled in those curcumstances. it might be unlikely you end up in the same position as me, but if it happens it can all be worked out if you reserve a room somewhere. if my rambling didnt make any sense, i reserved a room that briefly opened up in gateway heights, and then called and had them switch me into the room i wanted, if i didnt do that they could not just kick that kid out, and there were no rooms open when i called an hour earlier.

I'm pretty sure benchmark are all apartment style dorms, with kitchens and shit. Sage point will just be small single rooms.

where is everyone getting passes to? i'm thinking of doing the alta/pc combo for pow days and park days respectively?

^ i personally really have no clue, would like to get an alta pass this year. might be going to solitude if some other friends commit. ask that question in a couple months.

Legit combo, been doing it for the past 3 seasons. Highly considering a brighton midweek pass next season too.

i was debating between alta and the bird, then PC. ive only rode one day at the bird, and have never been to alta, so i cant really compare from personal experience, anyone have some thought or opinions for me?

gonna get either a pass or a job at brighton for sure. when i skied there i was stoked on it, so fucking chill. and then a pass to park city to ski park.

i waited till yesterday to try to reserve housing and they're filled across the board. i wanted to get 803 or 804 so i'm pretty damn pissed at myself. its all up to the waiting list now i guess

i feel ya man. i'm gonna be on there too. i guess there's still living learning communities open, but those seem kinda lame to me.

ay, registrations are going on now for the MUSS for football games. whose down? you can create a group to join so that you can be seated next to your friends, instead of just randomly.

anyone down for a newschoolers seating group? i can make one right meow

group name - Newschoolerz

be sure to spell it with a z

password - chadsgap

go utes!

boy it's gonna be fun lol lmao =]

yeah forget the living learning communities...i guess its first come first serve for waiting list openings and they release the openings in bunches? i was told we'd be emailed when they're gonna announce openings. are you on the waiting list yet

yeah i just got on it. haha thanks for reminding me. but they just opened it a couple hours ago so i'm probably still pretty high on the list. hopefully we can score rooms in chapel glen!

im down for this! but where do i go to sign up for a seat in the "newschoolerz" section?

And hell yeah! GO UTES! haha

have fun in my room. maybe ill leave you guys some nugs and booze stashed inside the mattress.

oh sorry if the bathroom smells like complete ganja.

the ski busses are not bad at all. they are free if you have a pass to a any resort in the cottonwoods. when there is alot of cars going up they get up just as fast and you dont have to park. just bring a book or a gameboy and it goes quick

I really dont know if anybody will be able to live up to the standards of what went down in the 52126/52125 bathroom

oh and I would obviously recommend a pc pass for park but if you're looking to ride epic fucking mini golf or have amazing backcountry access I would recommend Brighton.

oh and one more thing, if any freshman are taking college algebra 1090 or information systems first semester hit me up ...i could probably help out with a cheap book

hm. how would pow days a brighton be compared to a place like alta or snowbird , which is where i was originally planning on getting a pass to?

Along with a PC pass, I had a Brighton pass my freshman year and a Snowbird pass for the last two years. I didn't ski Brighton as much as I should have freshman year because I was not too accustomed to venturing outside the park, but it is fun on pow days. Brighton gets similar amounts of snow to Alta and Snowbird so that is not really an issue. The terrain at Alta and Snowbird I would say is a little better and steeper overall but Brighton still has plenty of things to jump off. This year the lines at snowbird were absolutely ridiculous. Because of this, I am most likely venturing back to BCC next season whether it be to Brighton or Solitude. What it really comes down to is personal preference. I would personally rather give up some quality of terrain to avoid crowds.

god i know exactly what you mean. if that's the case then i'll go with solitute or brighton for sure, cause i always hear about how quickly alta gets tracked.

your gonna need to make sure you got tubes in there

also like heff said go with a PC pass for sure, Brighton is really really really really really fun if you know where you are going as well, especially on the deepest of days.

I mean if you're planning on getting a bird pass you'll still have a shit ton of fun there..and overall if you're focused on jsut getting better at skiing aka charging...the bird/alta would proabbly be better...the zones at brighton are so sick though..you don't get the vertical adn steepness but you can easily get untracked all day at btown...the bird and alta ..i dunno i enjoyed skiing there but the vibe i get is totally different...brightons all homies who are super chill adn I felt like the vibe at the bird was a bunch of old powder junkies and shit who were just running and pushing you out of the way to get turns...kind of a long wait there on pow days too....i really depends on what you[re looking for ..i love brighton..had fun at the bird but will be sticking to brighton again don't base your opinion soley on this its a tad biased..if you would like a better response about the bird hit up a kid named Bo_bot9 he rides the bird and loves it or ectreeskier11...i'm sure they could tell you great things abotu the place

Valid points, that seems to be the deal so many more people head to LCC when there's tons of snow, it will be a wednesday and Alta will be absolutely packed in at 10am. Brighton has a dope vibe, lots of homies our age having fun. It is easy to roll up at noon and still find untracked too, I like that alot about Brighton, also during the week for the most part its empty there.

I skied one pow day at Brighton and it was maximum levels of fun. And not only epic pow, Brighton has a super fun rail park if shit gets tracked. I've heard Snowbird and Alta (though I've never been to either), are crowded, and filled with people who take skiing altogether too seriously.

yeah the trax/bus system goes there. but there's going to be plenty of people to get rides with, trust me. the buses are a good last resort to have though.

Lotsa kids come with cars, my homies without cars had no issue getting to PC and Brighton you should be fine!
