Using fake ID at colorado dispensaries?

Im driving to colorado with some friends tomorrow and obviously we would like to acquire some herbs & derbs. I am from Ohio and have a scannable Ohio fake that looks spot on. My plan was to go to a smaller dispensary to avoid the extensive security measures of bigger stores. So NS do you think this will work?

I don't actually know what a 19 year old looks like, with my group of friends it ranges between people who look 25 and people who look 16 haha

I don't know how it works at dispensaries but at least when buying tobacco and alcohol at a store, when your ID gets scanned the barcode is what holds all the information and there is no database that your ID is connected to. The barcode codes for your information and pulls up your name, age, address, etc. If you have a well made fake then this isn't a problem. If the scanners in dispensaries are anything like they are in most stores then yes, they will scan the same and you will be fine.

However, if your ID does not scan for whatever reason or they figure out that it is fake, it could be confiscated and you could be charged with possession of a fake ID or fraud. Possession of a fake ID is either a misdemeanor or felony depending on the state. So you should definitely consider that.

I'm guilty of using a fake to buy alcohol, but I don't know if I would use it to buy weed. If you can find someone to buy for you while you're there you should definitely do that and be smart about it. Its not worth a felony charge.
 
Honestly you should be fine, especially if you go to a "sketchier" place in Denver or something. Those people seriously give zero fucks. A friend of mine used to by quarter pounds from a place in Denver, and your only supposed to sell maximum two ounces at a time.
 
Pro tip: all of them are "Smaller dispensaries". There's no Weed Mart that has corporate stock and a full managerial staff.

And to the concept of finding the sketchiest one you can, that's an awful plan. Most of the sketchy places have to be the most stringent. You want to find the dispensary closest to like....Parker. Or Cherry Hills Village.

Dub post, but fuck you, it's a thread about weed. What Mingg said is correct, so the risk you run is not "shit, they said no" It's "shit, they confiscated my ID". And depending on how much of an asshole the guy is, he could tell you that you have to stay there while he calls the cops. In this scenario, if your ID is your legit information, you're kinda fucked. If your ID is fake information, laugh at him and walk out. They can't hold you there and you should just accept that you lost your ID.
 
risky, but don't get all mad if they do take your ID/call your bluff. its basically like bars and stuff, its not that serving people under 21 isn't right, their business can get slapped with fines or even shut down in some cases.

For anyone buying a fake don't use your real info. I fucked up and listened to my roommates and got my real name. They told me it isn't identity theft if you use your real name and theres absolutely nothing illegal about having a "novelty ID" as long as you have your real name. Turns out that is completely inaccurate. When you use your real name you can get caught in situations just mentioned. If you use a different name then they've got nothing on you... That's probably common knowledge but I'm an idiot trying to help other idiots.

Ha. I've been into every dispensary in Summit County and a few in Denver and I've NEVER had mine scanned. or seen them scan anyones. They don't do that. It's not hard to tell a fake id. I am 21 but look 15 too and still never had any problems. You don't know what you're talking about. But I would still not recommend using a fake id in there. They will know and take it and maybe call the police.

No. Just from experience and friends who work in the industry. Usually there is a line when you wait and I've never seen them scan a single id.
 
i have personally used a fake id to get pot in CO, so yeah its definitely possible. Lots of false info in this thread. if it scans at 7/11 it will scan at a dispensary, unless they sacked up and bought a box scanner (where the id is inserted into it, not just scanned, which no fake will pass through. box scanners are expensive so most places don't buy them, but they scan for the paper used to make the id (from the US mint) and the ink colors used in it, and each state puts in a special mix of colors to throw off fakes. box scanner:

I don't know why I got downvoted and why you seem to think I disagree with you. I was just implying you can always find some shady store that will sell anything to anyone. whether they all do or don't check wasn't the point, but ask around and you can definitely find one that's more lenient than the others.

Pretty much the same story, they constantly yell to keep your ID in hand but then they wouldn't give a fuck if you look like the guy in the picture or not.

OP I've actually done this in a certain dispensary on Pearl st in Boulder

Worked fine

Granted the chick working the desk and scanner was high as shit

So much false information in this thread. I live in Denver and IDs are not checked against a "national database". Said database isn't even accurate sometimes when used by actual cops. Most rec dispensaries just hire a merchant guard to look at IDs (ex. Grass Station near lohi) and some don't even have an official person to check IDs (ex. Starbuds on Evans). They sometimes make the merchant guard look like a cop. More upscale dispensaries such as Livwell on Broadway use an ID scanner but it is not a box scanner. It just logs your information and scans like any other scanner.

The picture Skittle posted isn't of a box scanner. Its a mobile ID scanner, the same as a 711 uses. BOX SCANNERS DONT EXIST IN DENVER. Straight up no bars or dispensaries have that technology yet.

Unless your fake ID is shit or isn't actually you, you won't have a problem buying rec. The state likes the tax revenue. Trust me its not that difficult. However, I would be wary using a CO fake. If you're too much of a pussy to go to a dispensary, then use craigslist

He would have to have a med card to buy 2oz otherwise for rec it's 1/4 oz out of state and and 1oz for in state. However, there's nothing preventing a med patient from maxing out at multiple dispensaries though. You could literally drive down Broadway and hit up Livwell then Ganja gourmet then Artisanal (my personal favorite) then Colorado Wellness and could get 1/2 lb in like 30 minutes.
 
I live in Aspen and:

1. Nobody has ever scanned my ID. HOWEVER....

2. My friend works at a dispensary and gets paid $100 every time he catches a fake ID. During peak tourist season its not unusual for him to pick up 5+ fakes a day. You do the math.

3. Don't be dumb, be a hoodrat and shoulder tap.
 
I went to 6 different dispensaries with my fake and they all let me buy. Most of the places looked at it for a long time but it still worked.
 
If its worked to buy booze, i don't see why it wouldn't work at a dispensary

and my fake definitely has been box scanned at bars, and i've gotten into multiple. there are some damn solid fakes out there. just act natural and you'll be fine

Stay out of the city of Aurora. I work at a dispo in the area and it's a law in that city that EVERY id does in fact have to get scanned. They got these multi thousand dollar scanners to test fakes and what not. So if you REALLY wanna try it; go down to denver and lose a lot more of the risk. The "Worst thing that could happen" is the dispensary could lose all of their licenses if they do in fact get caught selling weed to a minor. The second worse thing that could happen is you could get slapped with a fine for no less than $2,000. So if you want that to happen and you probably don't care I'd say go for it. Just keep it safe and casual and go somewhere downtown.
 
To those who have never had their ID's scanned, is it possible that it wasn't scanned because you had a CO ID? In my area most places will scan out of state licenses but only check your birthday if you have an in state license. It might be possible that there are similar policies at dispensaries?

If your fake doesn't scan then it's a piece of shit... it's not that hard to encode 2D, 1D and/or a magstrip. If you want to check if yours scans before the real deal then use the PDF 417 App

I go to school in fort collins and was wondering if anyone knows of a dispo around here where it's not sus to use a fake. All my friends act like its guaranteed trouble but I'm tired of getting shitty weed in a legal state or having to pay people to hit the dispo for me

Make chiller friends and don't ask them to buy for you, ask them if you can go in on a larger amount with them. Or if they still want to upcharge you get like an ounce and sell half and make more back selling to your friends for reasonable prices or some shit. Or get ounces of shake, shit is an amazing deal at most places, I've got an ounce for $50 and half of it was small dense nugs.
