Really not cool man. I have a friend who was a scout sniper, and watched his spotter get cut up by some kid with an AK. He shot the kid with his handgun. He watched his brother die, and had to kill a fucking child to save his own life. When he told myself and my other friend, he seemed fine, but you could see in his eyes how much it fucked him up. He'll never be able to bring back his partner and he'll never be able to take back what he did, so please, show a little fucking respect to the people who endure shit like that.
 
This thread is garbage, glad to see some of you realize what the people of the military do. They fucking serve to give some of you Americans the freedom and ability to smoke pot and ride down the mountain. I served with a bunch of guys in the Special Forces training program before I got injured and a medical con leave pass.

These people sign up and dedicate there lives to defending this country for better for worst. Realizing when they sign that contract there blood may be spilled to defend this great nation.

All countries militaries have there flaws and there bad seeds. But everyone I've met in the Army is more trustworthy, a better friend and doing something better than most of the friends I've made through skiing. Yes KILLING comes with the territory and having gone through the training they hammer it home, but they also want you to think and be level headed. They don't want you to be a fucking retard and blow everything up, sure you have your hot dogging dumb asses, but guarunteed they're driving humvees.

Some of the best men and women i've met while I've been in, and honestly can't wait to get back to my training pipeline. Doing something bigger than yourself is the best thing you can do. I'm not trying to recruit anyone, but I was one of those who always said I'd never join, but honestly in this day and age, it's the most secure job you can find, you get training to contribute to the economy when you come out, NOT EVERYONE CARRIES A GUN, and you do something and ask for nothing. Everyone is a volunteer and puts there life on the line to keep our skies, beaches, and country safe.

Fuck all of those who aren't appreciative of what the Branches of service do for this country. Yes there are bad eggs, but the best friends I've made are all in, as are the people I trust most. Our troops have no say in what our Commander and Chief (President) decides to do. We take an Oath to go forward and do our job, mission and defend our country with out question.

So to all those who are serving and have served thank you!
 
I had a friend in the same situation. Had to watch half his squad go down in a Black Hawk and crash into a building across the road from them. The building was an ammo dump so there was no chance to get in to help them.

ooh true, but I was thinking MK19... 240 gernades a minute... I had a m249 at basic training, that would do the trick to.... I heard Ft. Benning was also hiring new targets at the grenade range and Gnartron's application was right at the front of their list!

When did you go through basic? The new 249s that are comming out are light as fuck. Lightened the barrel up considerably, also shortened it. You go through barrels faster, but it's like half the weight.

Back to gnartron, It's the fact that we don't kill him for it that helps drive me. While I have no respect for him or his chicken shit opinion, I have every respect for his right to state his opinion.

Mk19 would be cool, but the 240B has a special place in my heart. As do most 7.62 weapons
 
I know I'm just giving him shit. I'd never kill anyone thats on the North American continent thats a Citizen. I just can't believe how blind some people are to what they have. Canada's existence is greatly reliant upon our military, as well as there very few deployed troops. Be thankful that your Metro system isn't going up in flames like they're in Europe sometimes, or like in Russia. Be very thankful.

back to your question. I wen't through Ft. Benning starting in about July, Airborne in December, and Selection after Exodus.

The 249 I used was about 16 lbs without an Ammo Drum. It sucks on those 30 mile rucks haha. Never had to change the barrel on it though. Never had to lay enough fire down, since it is basic and all. Yeah 240's are sweet. God I hated having a 249 and having to be the asst. gunner when my battle buddy got hurt. Nothing like carrying a 40lb tripod, 2 drums of 240 ammo and 3 drums of 249 ammo haha.

 
I really don't see anything wrong with that video. If your dumb enough to walk in the middle of the street with weapons you should assume the risk of being shot. If you follow armed men through the streets with a camera you should expect to be shot, it is a country that is at war. No shit they seem “cold” and mechanical, killing people isn't fun. You have to detach your self from the situation to deal with it. Try to imagine what the gunner see's when he sleeps, how many friends he has lost to these men. No fucking shit he wants the guy to pick up a gun, so he can have one less ass hole trying to kill him and his comrades. It's easy to get sucked into a video that is set up all preachy and biased to one side. Try using your brain and pick through the bull shit, sure some soldiers do some fucked up things but so do all people. There is some questionable things in that video (like the van) but I really see no way of properly engaging in killing some one. What I'm really trying to say is fuck you OP.

I apoligize for my thread and comment. I came off sounding young, dumb and angry.

And I wish people would also realize this about all of ourselfs as a whole, seeing as how much hate goes on in these threads about touchy subjects.

But I feel the main point people should focus on is the audio of the soldiers in the video. Laughing at running over a body. Ancy to kill kill kill.

I cant personally imagine taking lives in high numbers with no remorse. Seems too inhumane and robotic.

I understand the counter arguement to my statement that, yes, this was during the point of the war with the most resistance and conflict. So the soldiers tensions were high, they were tired. This obviously can mess wtih your ability to make decisions.

But killing killing killing. Ahhhhhh it seems so senseless and useless.

I think I just have to sum up the thread with war is in need of a permanent retirement.

 
At the very beginning of the war they did there best not to but soon, especially in Baghdad, Fallujah, and other areas of large amounts of skirmishes the bodies piled up in the road so much that they couldn't drive around them and HAD to drive over them. No one wants to do that and human coping mechanisms include making fun of stuff like that and trying to laugh it off.
 
Well, I'm not justified to know because I havent been there done that.

But what I do know is killing is a waste of a human being.
 
in every war soldiers start seeing the enemy as less than human beings. this makes it easier for them to do their job. Its hard to not feel that way against the iraqis when they are senselessly killing your friends. also the iraqis have a much lower quality of life which makes them seem less human.

my friend just got back from india and he said he straight up felt like ninety percent of the people he talked to were just straight stupid. They wipe their ass with their hand and dont wash and shit. third world country citizens are so uncivlized like that that it is hard to not feel superior. and by the way that is how all indians treat white people-as if the white people were better. in the caste system white people are above all.
