The space program sure is one of the greatest feats of the last century. But it wasn't just a US thing.
In the 50's there was a plane developed in Canada called the Avro Arrow, incredibly ahead of its time. It was then scrapped by the then Conservative government on orders of the US (bunch of cock sucking fags in power in both countries during that time).
Obviously it was an incredible team that had put together that plane who were all of a sudden out of a job. What did they do? They got hired by NASA to put a man on the moon. Without them it would never have happened.
a quote from the Wiki article, if you don't like it being Wikipedia go look at the sources yourself.
Following the Canadian government's cancellation of the Avro Arrow project in 1959, CF-105 Chief Aerodynamicist
Jim Chamberlin led a team of 25 engineers to NASA's
Space Task Group to become lead engineers, program managers, and heads of engineering in
NASA's manned space programs—Projects
Mercury,
Gemini and
Apollo.
This team would eventually grow to 32 Avro engineers and technicians,
and become emblematic of what many Canadians viewed as a "
brain drain" to the U.S.

so the space program is US funded, and essentially belonging to the US. But lots of the most important brains of the operation were all Canadian. Out of a job because of a bunch of right wing bastards.
