if it's exclusively photos you're doing, I know I personally would MUCH rather have a 40d.
 
I figured it wouldn't be quite as good, my mom has one and it works ok for taking pictures right now for me, but it doesn't take video, which would be a big part in choosing a dslr fo rme.
 
If you can stretch it I'd recommend a Yamaha np-V80. They cost around £300 in the UK.

My parents bought me a Roland FP-7F as a birthday present, it's a brilliant stage piano but quite expensive.

As for USB, almost every keyboard these days will plug into a computer. I wouldn't recommend garageband, but if you're just playing with it it should work. If you get into music production which DAW you use is a completely different question. Any discussions on the subject instantly turn into battlefields. I would, however, recommend the new logic or ableton. Both have very good in built synths (above and beyond use logics synths frequently). There are some free options but they're generally quite low quality. Just use the pirate bay./images/flash_video_placeholder.png
 
What is the camera stabilizer used in Mutiny called? It looks like a cage type thing and you can grab the sides or you can grab a handle on the top.

 
I haven't seen mutiny yet but im pretty sure they have some sort of redrock cage or something.

I recently got a Nikon AI/AF adaptor ring for Canon 5D. I do not have great knowledge about old lenses although I am very interested to use old glass on quite modern sensors (I experiment more film cameras).

So basically, with the adaptor I bought, 10euros, what glass can I get ?

if you're in maine or new england you might want to check this out.

canon 17-40 and 70-200 is with a t1i for $1400
 
Nikon fe2 with 35-70 (which i wont use) for 125

or

nikon f2 with 28, 55, 200, and accessories for 400

nikon has so many awesome ais/ed lenses for very cheap too. what focal lengths you looking at/need?

and seller didn't post the f-stops but 28, 55, and 200.
 
It will probably not be the 55mm f1.2.But you can hope.

And one tip, Nikon F's were commonly used by Pro's so they can look absolutely beat but usually work fine mechanically.

What finder is it coming with?
 
Ok, long question: Right now I have a t2i with the kit lens, I am using it a lot for a film internship I have and to film videos for several groups and people. I am selling my downhill bike so I was planning on buying some more glass for it, specifically the sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 AF OS, the canon nifty fifty, and the Rokinon 8mm fish, I just found out though that I could sell my t2i and kit and potentially upgrade to a 7d, of course I would have fewer lenses, so I would probably just end up with the sigma 18-200 and the nifty fifty if I went to the 7d. I can get a 7d with two batteries for $850 (of course I will try to talk them down). So basically, is it worth it to upgrade to the 7d or should I just stick with my t2i and get more lenses? Right now I am really leaning toward the 7d for 8fps, magnesium body, and weather sealing. Also, what do you think of those lens choices? Is there better glass at that price point I should be looking at? Any advice would be super helpful, Thanks!
 
Stick with the T2i. I have a T3i and my dad has a 7D, if I had the chance to upgrade or even have his, I wouldn't. They're essentially capable of all the same things at an equal caliber.

You'll think that 8fps and weather sealing are a selling point for the 7D right now but honestly it's not THAT worth it. I take a ton of pictures and video with my T3i and rarely feel limited by it.

As for your lens choices, I haven't done any research on the Sigma, but it seems like a classic "sellout" lens; something that is built for people who think they can cut the corners of needing a medium zoom lens and a long zoom lens. It's probably not built extremely well.

Thus, I'd urge the classic NS setup. It seems so cliche that the same setup is recommended all over this site, but it's recommended because it's so good.

First I'd recommend buying a Tamron 17-50 2.8 non-VC

After that, a Tokina 11-16 - Don't get the Rokinon 8mm. My friend has had both lenses and he regrets having the 8mm because it's not very sharp (especially at 3.5) and the distortion isn't as worth it. It'll cost more but it will be a better investment.

After that, look at any of the 70-200 line by Canon, those are some incredible lenses.

Having such a creative block lately. Haven't shot a photo in forever as I'm burnt out from shooting a wedding EVERY weekend the past 6 weeks and 4 more to come. Trying to do some design stuff but I keep hitting ruts. Mehhhhh
 
Forgot to close my bag today when driving to school so all my stuff including my macbook (white 2011 or 2010) went out and was laying in the rain for probably 10 minutes before I found it, felt pretty stupid. Of course my macbook died (pretty sure the screen broke and charger will only work if I press the body together).. Not willing to spend allot (or any) on fixing it since it is so slow.

So now I need to get a new mac but I don't have much money so I need to get a really cheap used one. Found a macbook pro 15 2008 for 500$, there is only one problem,,, it turns off if you don't have a charger connected at all times.. Does anyone know what the problem can be, is it just to buy a new battery and then it will probably work or will I be stuck always having to use a charger?

And will this be decent for pretty basic video editing in premiere, will it be better than my current mac??

 
Ok, so a pretty noob question I know, but that is why I am putting it in the unthreadworthy thread.. My boss gave me his old copy of CS4 to practice with, Unfortunately it is CS4 for pc and I am on mac. So I am assuming my best bet is to run CS in windows through bootcamp? If so what is the best way to get windows for cheap? I am pretty bad at more complicated computer stuff like this so I have been trying to get the student copy, is there a better alternative? Can I somehow run CS without windows? Thanks for any advice!
 
bump? Is the macbook pro 15 from 2008 outdated or is it still a decent computer? Or am I better of getting a 13 inch 2009/2010?
 
So I need a scanner to help offset the costs of shooting film. It needs to scan both 35, 120, and slide and needs to be somewhat high quality scans. I want to know what different price brackets will get me for image quality. The size/bulk of it doesn't really matter nor does the scan time. It doesn't matter if it is a dedicated film scanner or a flatbed with a film holder-thing as I already have a document scanner. My price range probably tops out at $300, I wont want to spend that much, but would like to know what that would get me.
 
anything older than about 3 years is pretty pointless. if you wanna save money on a laptop get a windows computer. You can get a pretty good new laptop for $500-700
 
Just torrent the CS6 Master Collection or trial and use the framework crack. As long as you aren't using the software for profit, no one is going to give a fuck. Adobes software is simple to crack for a reason.
 
i dont have time to find this but it is probably in here but i have a t5i and a tokina 11-16, im pretty sure i need the 2000 out of the glidcams but im wondering which one is the best bang for my buck, hd? pro? any other?

Just stoked for the season. Since I can't ski hard I am going to focus almost every weekend on filming or taking pictures.
 
I just bought an old Minolta SRT-102 with a Vivitar 200 mm lens. Any advice for other lenses I should consider? What film I should use? I'm relatively new to film and would appreciate some advice.
 
A 50mm prime, of any sort, whatever fits into your budget. For now you should just buy the cheapest film you can get. Have fun!
 
83,25% sure that's the MD mount.

The 50mm comes in f2, f1.7, 1,4 and 1,2.

They are all very cheap with exception of the 1.2

All swell lenses really, sharp, no distortion, compact.
 
new at backing up ram but i need a 16gb ram chip for a 2011 mac book pro and one for a hp pavilion something and i also neeed to know how to install it any productive help is appriciated
 
I'm looking for a cheaper mic to film skiing with my t3i. I want something like a rode video mic, but I don't have 150 bucks right now and I'm not sure if it would be better to save up and maybe get a new lens?
 
Depends on the focal length and aperture but in general: you don't really need autofocus, just zone focus and bam almost everything is in focus.
 
I mean ya, you focus for a shot but i can think of 100 instances off the top of my head where you have to rack focus something in motion, just watch any have-decent produced feature film.

as for skiing though, usually its easy to get a skier in focus at any focus length unless youre very close. Even a 50mm 1.4 @1.4 will almost be at infinity if you want the whole body in the shot, but there are detail shots where shit will go out of focus very easily. Now anything wider than like 24 you can go close to infinite and usually be good all around.
 
Crack's usually work better if you don't open the trial.

Ive always opened the trial. Its actually better to open the trial and then upgrade everything from adobe THEN crack it.
