Unthreadworthy Thread

i guess i'll start:
what is a good way to build a gopro pole boom? should i just buy a bike tube mount? or is there a better way?

I know a kid that put it on the end of a golf club with a helmet mount. It doesn't work in the slightest for skiing, but its great for trampoline, if you're into that. That's all I know, just throwin out an idea.

i got a shower curtain rod, so it is extendable, drilled a hole in it, and put a 1/4" bolt in the hole.

It screws right on to my tripod mount

awesome, thanks guys i wasnt too clear in the OP, so:
IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION THAT IS NOT WORTHY OF A WHOLE THREAD, POST IT HERE.

how to weight just the glidecam? weight them, then subtract the weight of the camera and lens? me no comprendo.

^^i have a handlebar mount that fits on the end of my pole...at the top it fits fine and at the bottom, near the basket the pole is too thin so i wrapped ducttape around it and now it works fine + white ducttape on white poles doesn't even stand out ... :)^^this is the easiest way if you mainly use it while skiing and don't want to limit your own skiing by hauling an extra pole....
however if your main concern is filming others, filming non ski activities or filming alot from a pole, you can get a retractable shower curtain rod or retractable broomstick ; then you can hammer one end flat , and put a flat mounting plate + screw on it to attach the camera....^^or also use the handlebar mount; great thing about the handlebar mount is that it comes with a triple jointed arm so you can aim the camera in any direction and position you could ever imagine....

sorry wasnt said quite right: how should i move around the weight that it comes with? i thought there would be some certain way but i could be wrong..

BUMP.

how long does it take for the snow outside of an icerink to melt after they put it outside? also, how much snow is there normally? enough to fill up a truck bed and trailer?

I probably could look this up but I'm not super sure so here it is:

I want to sell my Nikon d5000. I bought it about a year ago and its still in perfectly new condition, nothing wrong with it at all that i can see. It has a "AF-S Nikor 18-55mm" lens and then a "Sigma DG UV 25mm filter thingy.

My question is, how much would be reasonable to list/sell it for? (With body, lens, filter)

Here's an unthreadworthy question:

ns, help me pick my next purchase. I plan to acquire currency throughout the year and will hopefully have enough for whatever I list:

Canon 24-70 f/2.8L

Sigma 30mm f/1.4

Glidecam HD2000 (currently using a 2000 pro)

Sachtler Ace (Currently using a 701HDV)

Rode Videomic

Light Kit

A mic would be pretty sick if you are using the camera mic right now. Might as well just wait for your tripod to fall apart before buying a new one unless you feel like you really need to get away from Manfrotto. What other lenses do you have?

The 5dII has effectively replaced the 1ds. 1dIV is still new enough. My only guess would be a replacement to the 5d with actual autofocus and drive capabilities, as well as an improved movie mode.

Get the t2i and invest the rest in nicer glass. Better to get nice glass right off the bat because it is generally more future proof than a body. Then in a year or two you can get whatever canon comes out with next. Supposedly going to be some next level shit for video.

Do you only want it for video? Are you fine with the incredibly bad build quality of the rebel series? How much are you prepared to drop on glass on top of the camera? Would you like the flip out screen of the 60d? How about the nicer buttons/click wheel/top screen?

Do you agree or disagree that the three-fifths compromise and the great compromise played large parts in the establishment of the constitution?

anyone? on craigslist it looks like some people are selling them around $600 but it just doesn't seem right for the price i bought it for...

Both were pretty minuscule in regards to philosophy behind the constitution. The Baltimore compromise (I think that's what it's called) is still very important to us government, but was not important in the establishment of the constitution IMO.

how to people gets shots from say one angle, then on another but on the same object..

ex. on a rail, theres the one angle, then another but on the same rail

im pretty sure its just two different shots at different angles put into one clip,m but im just wondering

also, whats something good to use for slowmo effects? i use vegas pro 10 as an editing software..

I have a sony HDR C550V 64 GB internal memory that has a cheap shotgun mic 2 or 3 extra batteries a lower pro case and a cheap fisheye how much do you think I should sell it for?
