Because you couldn't easily kill a bunch of people with any gun used for hunting or personal protection.

Hell if I really wanted to I could take out at least 10 people in one block driving down the sidewalk. We should immediately ban all cars that aren't covered in mattresses.

You would probably save at least 10 lives a year and prevent a 100k fender benders. Why isn't that shit mandatory yet?

Ok my poorly illustrated idea was that a gunman with an AK-47 probably could walk into a room with one exit (a school gym or whatever) and could easily shoot 200 people in 20 seconds (I don't know how quickly you can reload a gun don't get all technical on me). If that person had a pistol, hunting rifle, or whatever then the scenario would be completely different. Maybe 3 or 4 people were shot before 3 (yes quite courageous) men ran up and tackled him while he was reloading or looking somewhere else. A person that has balls would act out of instinct and stop them, I firmly believe that. Look at the Deer Creek, CO shooting for example, a teacher ran over to stop the shooter before he put another round in.

What about a mall? A machine gun takes out 50 people in no time. With a pistol, a man is able to call 911 right away and the shooter is obsolete, shooting a pistol (which requires more accuracy than a machine gun, especially to kill) at people running away, while the cops are closing in quickly. Again with a machine gun, the damage would be much greater.

My two points are machine guns, automatic guns, or any other weapon that is not a simple hunting rifle or single-shot pistol should not be manufactured in the U.S., nor be under the second am. There is no practical use for them other than mass-killing. The bottom line is we are talking about losing human lives, any chance of lowering the chance/severity of mass-murder must be taken. Imagine if it was your brother or son that was killed this way.

I actually read a psychological study on this. Most people in the same region have the same perception of colors but some tribes in africa have different names for colors... to them the ski is white (which is some peoples blue) which symbolizes purity and the heavens.

The terribly unpopular opinions (currently) that I hold:

-Semi-automatic assault weapons should not be restricted by the federal government. It should be left up to states (as it is now). VT has very high gun ownership but very low crime. I'm not using that as universal evidence; we have a very unique state. But it is a notable example.

-Concealed carry is acceptable outside banks, schools, and government buildings.

Others:

Government focus for rebuilding the economy should be focused on education and infrastructure. Those are the core of the problem and need fixing badly.

unlike 96% of newschoolers, i hate skiing park. it's become too oriented on if you can do a crazy trick or not and i think it takes away from the flow of real skiing.

A legal machine gun cost well over 10k and requires a type III firearms license to own, which is hard as fuck to get, putting one out of the reach of most citizens. On top of that there have only been two murders committed with a legally owned fully automatic rifle, both of which were carried out by police officers. ON TOP OF THAT it has been illegal to manufacture an automatic rifle for civilian use in the United States since 1986.

Not gonna get into it but most aks in the states are just semi auto rifels, and assult rife doesn't mean much, just things like foldable stocks, pistol grips...etc, you could get a higher caliber handgun that hold 30 rounds no problem and would be easerier to load than an ak, which would do just as much damage

Alright then, semi-automatic, I don't know shit about guns, any weapon that can rapid fire.

My point is that there is no reason to having them other than mass killing, they should be outlawed in the United States. And I imagine there are certainly other ways to get an AK-47 rather than buying one for 10K.

Uhh...what? Some people like to collect guns. Some people like to shoot them at ranges. Maybe we should just make all cars with >300 horsepower illegal because only 2% of people use them at the track and the rest just use them for illegal activities like speeding and reckless driving, right?
