Unpopular opinion thread skier's edition

A new event so you have the really long steep trail that every east cost and mid west mountain has. Incorporate the skiers carves how close their skis are. Make the tricks focused on what like magnus does for laps. Kinda defeats the purpose of swerve.

yeah... weird =/= stylish

of course we respect the skill it takes to do those funky ass grabs...but it just dont look good.

I think he's the equivalent of andy anderson is skating. Impressive tech tricks, but not really tasteful IMO

Even if I wasnt a big fan of Gagnier, he is still way more stylish than the horde of FIS CS:GO spinbots that compete in the olympics
 
I don’t like when movies don’t have name tags during segments, or when they don’t have distinct segments at all. Even if the aim is artistic it comes off to me as lazy, even if it’s deliberate. Idk maybe I’m being a boomer but I really like the formula of structured segments

Yeah this lmao there are so many skiers out there with mad skills and zero style and Vinny is not one of them, regardless of his grabs

Gonna one up your take. If you take away certain factors (influence, innovation, progression, nostalgia, and general iconic-ness) I think most gutter was on average a more impressive film than 90% of stept movies, maybe even all of them.

Doesn’t change my opinion on who the obvious goats of street skiing were, just kind of something I’ve been thinking about.

Yeah but those two are like the most comparable, it’s like a perfect match. I mean even the song choice, both cam and Sam used electric wizard songs in their parts. Comparing stept to someone like CL would be weird because they literally aren’t even the same type of movie

Should clarify this ain’t all the time but that child labor PC edit had it and on some of the landings. I also feel like comparing Daniel Hanka to Cal isn’t rly do able. They both have a such different way of skiing

you can’t compare either of them, both polar

opposites in skiing style. BUUUUUT as much as i dislike daniel’s style he’s a much better skier than cal is.

i agree it has much better tricks and a good showcase of pure skill but at the same time they aren’t unique at all, i seriously can’t stand sam zahner because all he does are high rotation spins and swaps. basically a more skilled jack karsteter if he actually hit street.
