Of course they’re tricks. I’ll clarify, It’s more a point of saying I wouldn’t count having a trick down unless you can do it with a grab.

The point about dub and trip fronts being aerials is just a joke, When trips first came out, the joke was that skiing is now aerials and it was a continuation of that. They take work, risk and effort like any other trick.

Ya i agree with that. Thanks for clarification.

True lol, skiing is a white people sport and the park rats always tried so hard to make it “gangster” bih there ain’t no gangsters in the mountains #thataintgangsta

Homie at the local city hill shreds in a many-xl hoodie from the sketchiest strip joint in the dirty part of the city. That’s pretty much the definition of pimp I think? Pretty sure the dude has a gold tooth. Haha.

the people that drop serious cash on Powderbirds heli/cat skiing in Utah are fucking retards. However much it costs to get a few couple-minute laps for a day could go towards an actual hut/cat/heli skiing trip for a week with tons of great skiing, but hey rich people are known for spending money on dumb shit.

isn't that the same company that tried to start heli skiing on the east coast lol

yeah i think so. Them attempting to get heli-skiing going on the EC is enough for people to see how retarded they are.

Swinging your arms around and bending a lot at the hips like a monkey doesn't automatically make you "steezy"

I think most people on ns would agree with this sentiment, it’s the Instagram kiddies who seem to have shite taste in style to me

Beginner skiing lessons are a waste of money, your friends can show you how to put a boot on, put your weight onto the front of the skis and snowplough in about 30 minutes, beginner ski lessons sliding around the flat with one ski on is a waste of time and money

Can confirm. UNLESS we are talking children’s ski school. A lot of kids benefit from learning from an instructor. And some definitely don’t! But I definitely agree that adult beginner lessons are pointless.

I wouldn’t have the fundamentals and abilities I have today without ski school throughout my youth. Idk about adult beginner lessons tho

Yeah. My dad tried to teach me and it was awful so I didn’t ski for the longest time. I think if I had been in ski school as a kid, I probably would’ve had a much more positive attitude and started skiing earlier!

i (agree &) think one of the main points of kids ski school is to be apart of a group to get them interested

learning new activities is usually better in a group setting, and allows for people to learn from another and partake in new/different types of drills

This. The amount of parents coming up to the desk after giving up keeps me employed.

Damn... us park rats are just sum $ki $chool dropouts.

(also, and college)

Not only is that unpopular, it's wrong. A trick is a trick with or without a grab. That's why it's called a trick. If your saying a triple Frontflip isn't a trick, it's an aerial, that's straight up wrong. Every single trick an aerialist can do is beyond your capabilities.

Classic millennial rant

LOL, I guess park rats are kinda the bad boys who wanted to rebel against "proper" skiing and racing

Not actually but it's funny to think of them that way

honestly fuck social media skiing, social media skiers, and anything that has to do with that. You all take this shit way too seriously.

Are you talking about the pro skiers who post a lot on social media?

Because some of those guys are the ones who are literally making money just to ski, and they don't give a shit about what you think of them because they are the ones who are flying to NZ in the summer with that social media money instead of working landscaping so they can camp in a tired ass subaru and poach windells.

When did not fully landing your trick become cool? About 99% of people posting a "butter" or "swivel" landing are full of shit and simply couldn't finish their rotation.

Also Line skis belong in the trash

Line skis are good for spring rock skis when there isn't full coverage

But yea they r kinda sht

Facts

Blunts only look good on single corks of 7 and greater or dubs of 14 and greater. Bluntflips and dub bluntflips are the exception.

Mute is the best looking and most iconic grab.

Don't @ me

A properly tweaked mute definitely is the most iconic grab, but the best looking with a very off axis cork has got to be a stalefish

Andri ragettli's latest sw dub 10(?) with the high five is probably the sickest trick I've ever seen

Not unpopular opinion, he also has the cleanest quad to date

I’ve only ever seen like maybe 4 mute grabs that I’ve liked and one of them is JP Auclairs backflip. I can’t remember the rest. Mute is cool when tweaked with a proper trick but 95% of the people who do them make them look lame and awkward.

Tweaked lead mute is honestly the only good mute. Trailing mutes are kinda ugly.

I think a lot of it is how you bend your body, a lot of mutes are just pulling up your knees, and thats just weird. But if you actually put effort to bend down stuff, there not terrible.

Agree as fuck. If it doesnt look like this youre probably just skiing slack country and tryna sound cool

eh, blame whoever coined the term to refer to that discipline of skiing. people say "big mtn skiing" to refer to skiing that concerns itself with lines on challenging natural terrain, it's not their fault that the name itself is stupid and invites relative and subjective perceptions of what's ""BIG""

I think he aimed it at the guys who call skiing the local black diamonds as "big mountain".
