Quebec has to be in it's own sub region. There is def some shit in the water there that breeds some kind of super skier. and very hot chicks.

Seriously though... sooo many of the guys who I grew up idolizing were all Quebecois.. I mean cmon JP Auclair, JF Cusson, Vincent Dorion, Marc-Andre Belliveau, JF Houle, Cedric TF, Charles Gagnier and then his brother Vincent and on and on and on it was nuts back then and it still is I feel.

Okay, I’ll bite.

Some of you dudes need to learn how to ski instead of always blaming the skis. A good pair of skis will only get you so far without skill. Spend a long enough time on them, and you will adapt to the ski. It’s part of being a well rounded skier.

Skis advertised as being “buttery” are the worst skis to learn butters on

this hasn't been my experience personally. I've learned tons of new butter tricks on my Vs and once I get them dialed on those I've found that I can also do them on stiffer skis, I wouldn't have tried a lot of those tricks otherwise.

Dont Fret was just as good as Zootspace, if not better

Zootspace was good, but I have never wanted to watch it twice in the same day or even week.

I fucking hate when people cuff their pants above their boots

Ik it looks worse but my boots need adjusting every run and it's pretty annoying to get the cuff off and over the boot again every time

You may be an exception bc you know what ur talking about

second unpopular opinion. People who complain about their boots all day/mess with their boots all day never saw a bootfitter before buying boots in store or online

Nah I had the best bootfitting experience ever (3rd time) but you still need to adjust new boots all the time. As the plastic warms and cools it changes, your feet change (my socks get progressively sweatier some days for example), the type of skiing you do run to run may change. There's plenty of reasons to adjust your boots even if you have the perfect boot and got it fitted.

You're probably right a lot of the time though. A lot of ppl never go to a boot fitter and then have a really rough time "for whatever reason"

The big pants with normal sized shirt style looks stupid

keep it g and wear everything oversized

Dont disagree at all - bigger is always better...

But I do think baggy pants with a small shirt looks better than small pants and a baggy shirt. Thats that little kid who just got his first tall t swag.

Don't Fret was filmed during one season that was cut short due to covid, while Zootspace took 2 years to make. Imo they're not even comparable.

I'm not a big fan of street parts that contain 10 shots or so. I wish there would be more 2 year movies, as 1 winter is pretty short to film a solid part/movie.

zootspace took so long to make that thomas woodley goes through 2 pairs of boots and 3 pairs of skis

I would rather ski soft moguls all spring then park.

I'm pretty much the opposite, I don't really go in the park much until that thing slushes up. But i'll ski the bumps anytime, winter spring ,where ever and when ever they appear.

Here's one:

Tophaloaf has more steeze than 90% of the park skiers out there. Ppl just hate because he does daffy butters and medspins and shit, but I would rather watch him ski rails and even do weird shit with steeze than watch a comp robot

The whole parachute pants thing looks so bad if done poorly, also since the harlaut pants are skinny at the top people should at least wear jackets long enough to cover that part otherwise the pants look weird asf

Candide hardly drops any content - he only releases the best stuff. If other skiers could get away with releasing only their 3 best shots from each season people would think that they are ski gods as well.

i got a few.

rails look dumb most of the time

big backflips 3s and 1s are the best looking tricks there are.

i much prefer a simple edit with good tunes less park (but still some) and just nice clean simple stuff

Jackets intended for skiing look stupid no exceptions

The fact that Vishnu and Jet are considered edgy says a lot about how lame skiing is

Skis can be too long, really long skis look just as dumb as really short skis

Steve Stepp was never funny

If your video is longer than 40 minutes I'm not watching it

ON3P is played out

Thug era skiing sucked

I mean, he leans into the mystique a little sometimes but he's also pretty old for a pro freeskier at this point. In his main days he was as prolific as anyone, full segments and comp results, and he's been in front of the lens for more than 20 years. People don't think candide is a ski god due to a small sample size, that's for sure

also totally unrelated but you're no longer invited to my birthday party

He's been skiing at his level longer than most of this website's userbase has been alive.

I was thinking about it and I kind of take this one back. It was definitely the worst era of skiing on average but there were plenty of good skiers that I like a lot. I'm sticking with all the other unpopular opinions though

Skis can never be too long, you're just not good enough to ski em. unless you're talkin like 225cm+

I've never had really long skis myself so I'm not talking about how they actually feel, I'm sure they're fun

What I'm saying is that all things being equal the steeze of short skis is the same as long skis. I think the only reason people think long skis look better is because pros who ride them usually have better style. Like I would rather watch Young Snow than Andri Ragettli 10 times out of 10 but that has nothing to do with the size of their skis. A ski that's close to your height looks the best

Top 100 influential skiers; Ankilla is on the list. There will be some sort of run, park, rail, named after him at Keystone in the future. Maybe even top 50. Seriously. Think about it.

Cy Whitling is basically if Chris Benchetler sucked and never got sponsored so decided to just virtue signal for a career.

Respect for being one of the only people to have an actual unpopular opinion in this 28 page thread

I would say Ankilla might be one of the most unique and interesting skiers but not really influential. Ankilla's just doing Ankilla and nobody's really trying to imitate him.

Cy Whitling seems like a cool guy overall and that's kinda harsh but I don't disagree tbh

it just looks dumb having a person up there switching and twisting around with skis on. i totally respect the mfs who are really good at rails but its just not really my thing. i do think a long ass rail with no edge changes looks pretty dope. also dont really think the concept of sliding down a metal tube just begging to have ur nuts squished to oblivion is that appealing. jumps and trees more my thing

if that makes any sense
