unbuckled racer boots

because their boots are so tight, they are uncomfortable to ski buckled unless they are actually racing

-Ski CO-

i do that all the time too, but i dont race. basically if you keep them buckled all day, they will start to get less stiff, and wont allow for nearly as much control. if you lossen the buckles, they dont lose the stiffness over the day, and give you more control when you buckle them up

i went to a ski shop the other day and this guy who works there is like you're boots are to big you should have boots that make your toes turn black you'll ski better. i thought that was shit how can i ski good if my feet turn color and fall off? i left the store promptly.

phat to splat!

oh, i didnt see ski with them unbuckled. thats why people walk around with em unbuckled. but yeah, race boots are so stiff and tight that they dont need to buckle em to get enough control outside the gates

its not cause others do it, its cause otherwise your feet get sooo cold and hurt a lot. race boots are no fun. i'm stuck with mine for awhile, but at least they're jr boots so not as stiff as some.

yea it's really gay racers buy boots like 2 small for them and tighten them as tight as they go. when i raced i got boots that i would grow into and just leave the buckles on the first one. racings gay

Real racers will take boots 1 to 2 size smaller to have a tighter fit and therefore more control no wonder why they unbuckle them and take them off at lunch.

wow, its really amazing how much lack of inteligence is on this site when it comes to ski boots. No affence at all, but most ski shops fit boots wrong anyways. Regardless of if you are a racer or a freeskier, you should have fairly tight fitting boots. Yes racers will have tighter boots then other but for the most part you should have tight boots too. A general rule of tumb is you ski boots should be atleast 1 to 2 sizes smaller then your street shoe size. If you dont beleave me try it. you will have so much better response and performance from you skis and boots if your boots fit you right.

For example. my friend has been in race boots his whole life, he just got a pair of salomon boots (forget the name, but there are also a high performance boot) anyways he went 2 sizes smaller as well. I guess what im saying is its not just racers who wear smaller boots. If you ask anyone with any knowledge of boot fitting they will tell you the same.

Farp faggot. You are a shitty fucking skier so shut the fuck up. Ya we inbuckle our boots cause ithers do it. I race and we unbucke our boots when we go up the chair because they are soo tight that it makes are feet hurt and we loose circulation.

gun controll means using 2 hands

Racer's ski a shell that is 2 sizes smaller than their normal, and they buff the inside and raise the arches and dig out the heel so that a so called 'liner' can be put in, but even then it is very thin and not meant to be comfotable, just to prevent the skier's shin from hitting plastic. Every bit of space is accounted for in a race boot.

it is uncomfortable, but when you are racing a technical slalom course with a lot of combinations or something, the tight boots really add a noticeable amount of control.

ill be super rich and own mt.hood and let everybody from ns ski for free... except freezed

I ski with race boot's and y feet are killing me at the end of the day, i have excellent control with them so its worth it. I like stiff boot's.

it seems like everyone rides boots that are way to big. I have a size 12 street shoe (VANS are all I wear), yet in a ski boot I ride a size 27.0 with no work what so ever. Now, thats a B1 bandit boot, which is a fairly medium fitting boot as far as volume goes. Now if i pop into a plug, i stick with a 27, but the overall volume is much lower and it takes about 4 hours to 'dial in' the initial fit. Eather way, when im in the lift lines or just standing around, my boots are unbuckled. Its makes a huge differance skiing with a tight boot. and on top of that, I never have any pain any more, no shin bang, no toe bang, nothing. the reason you get pain like that is from to big of boots. ah.

they want them really tight so they have control. i keep mine a little loose, because im used to them being loose, so i can ski fine with no loss of control. it is much easier on my shins

ill let ya know when i ride me- believethehype (please: dont)

Pirate steeze, arrrr!

the bottom two buckles on ski boots dont really need to be tight for most skiiers, jst tight enough to seal the moisture/air from getting inside the shell. having those two buckles done tight can make your arch collapse, reduce blood flow and make your feet colder..

I always have my bottom two buckles pretty tight while skiing ,they keep my foot in the boot quite nicely, the top ones not so much. I have a size 11 shoe, and wear a size 26.5 boot. Tight boots give you such good control both on the flats, rails, and jumps.

i probably have the softest fuckin boots and softest fuckin skis in the world and i really dont notice that much of a difference when i ski other shit, i can tell the ski is stiffer but it doesnt really effect how i ski that much, theres way too much hype about the stiffness of our skis and boots

uh oh. i have size 8 and a half or 9 feet, and i wear size 25.5 boots. i had a sneaky suspicion that they were too big and now it's being confirmed.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

my street size is 12...ski boot mondo size is 28.5

Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get the neat sneakers?!?!

hehehe giggle giggle giggle

put a pair of race boots on budy and you will understand. I didn't wear socks when I used to race, and I wore boots that were 2 sizes too small, so if you see them unbuckled just be thankful it aint u.

ride1080: your boots should be about the right size, not too big, a 25.5 = US Mens 7

I have a size 8 1/2 foot, and I ride a 25.5 Salomon Pro Model -size is just right

my friends boots are so damn tight that they make her toes bleed. They are in fact so tight that they make her hate skiing. Which can possibly be tha gayest shit i have ever herd.

Racers need their boots to be uncomfortably tight. If you've never raced, you wouldn't know.

First time I ever put on skis (I used to snowboard) me and my friend switched gear and he had Technica race boots...oh man, my feet got murdered and they took like 15 mins for me to get on.

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

i ski in really tight racing boots. and i have to unbuckle them when i fininsh tearing up a run. but i probably ski a lot faster than most of you.

Some of you got it right... but whatever, in my opinion, a ski boot works like this.. when you shell fit your boot you should have about 2 fingers between your heel and the rear of the shell for an Intermediate Rec skier. For performance it should be 1 or less, to simply rid of foot slop, or movement, so no matter if someones racing or not if they want performance, possibly for big mountain skiing they're gunna have a tighter fitting boot. other wise your feet move around and you have no control, and you probably get blisters or Shin bang

u unbuckle when ur just freeskiing, then buckle when ur racing for more controll

ppl that r big into racing ride boots atleast 3 sizes too small and get them molded to there feet my frien had a size 8 boot and he is a size 11 1/2 so they r very tight and the prob hurt ur feet so they ride them unbucked till they race

randall, i would say you should be in a 26.5.

also, when your standing strait in your boots (not flexed) your toes should be touching the front of the boot, and when you flex they will pull off the front..

i dont really have a life, but i am lazy. and i got sick of weeding through all you peoples shit cause... basically im smarter than you.

Hahahahah you are all fucking beaters with the exception of a few....your boots are supposed to be that tight. If you are actually skiing terrain otuside of a terrain park you wont your boots tight around your foot because you get soooo much more control. And its alot easier to ski when youre feet arent swimming all around. H Ahahah you are all such fucking gapers
