Im sorry not even zetterberg can stack up. name me one other player this season who has owned goalies as bad as kovalchuk while carrying an entire team.

Back to Back Hat tricks too, watch out for Kovalchuk Army this post season.

And he is the new NHL leading goal scorer

well wouldn't they have to make it to the post-season first? Cause Atlanta is dead last in the league right now.

which has won more stanley cups/ been to the stanley cup finals than the Atlantic Divison and North East division combined since the begining of the new millenium

A pure goal scorer is almost never the best player in the NHL. The current best player in the NHL is, hands down, Nicklas Lidstrom. As far as I'm concerned anyone who wants to argue with that doesn't know their shit.

Best goalie: Roberto Luongo

Best D-man: Nicklas Lidstrom

Best Forward: Doesn't matter. There are a dozen who can score a point or four on any given night. If I had first pick of anyone I'd take Joe Thornton.

he's not just a pure goal scorer, he is carrying an entire team. no other player in the NHL has stepped up and played as selflessly and honorably thus far this season as kovalchuk has.

ya well if your a good player on a shitty team then its not as hard to carry the whole team as it would be if you were say a good player on the avalanche or the red wings

point being that he plays in the worst division in the nhl

wow, if i didn't know any better you'd have me thinking kovalchuk was jesus christ himself.

sure he's been great so far, but there's no reason to exalt him higher than guys like zetterberg, alfredsson, crosby, nash, and iginla.

your theory that he's carrying his team doesn't hold any water because he doesn't have a single game winning goal (!!!), and his team has shat the bed so far. yeaaah.

it's also plain to see that you're super emotional and fanatical over him directly after his back to back hat trick performance. but stop and think, he scored his first when ottawa was sitting on a 5-0 lead, and it was in a losing cause. he was scary good with that quick release, i'll say that without hesitation. but ottawa had already shut it down for the night. he also put in an empty netter tonight for the hat trick, so both were easy-ish hat tricks.

you want to see a player carrying his team offensively this year? look at somebody like alfredsson. 12 games, 11 wins, 9 goals, 19 points, 2 game winners. or try rick nash, 12 games, 7 wins, 9 goals, 15 points, 2 game winners. compare that to kovalchuk at 14 games, 5 wins, 12 goals, 19 points, and no game winners... and enough with the hype already.

I believe Barry Melrose also said kovalchuk is the best player in the league.

He doesn't need to score gwg when he can completely turn a game around sparking momentum for the rest of the team to produce as well. You cannot dismiss the fact that he stole the game against ottawa and owned the tampons tonight. Even the vicious anti se division canadian press heralded him as the star of the game.

Also the thrashers are now 2 pts out of 8th in the east.

The firing of Bob Hartley was the best move of the season, the thrashers are now poised to contend for another divison title.

Also he's at 19 pts now, tied with crosby for third in the league.

7 pts in 2 games...including back to back hat tricks...like i said Best Player in the NHL right now

I dont know man... Thornton is easily the best "quarterback" in hockey... plus he still hits really hard, and he can score goals on the plain fact that most teams think hes going to pass it before he would shoot... which is ussually the case... until they find out that he actually shot it for once.

Sure I can. Kovalchuk didn't 'steal' anything because the Thrashers lost. Maybe if he had scored the game winner he would have stolen the game... but wait! None of his 12 goals are game winners! To put it into terms you might understand, he's a great player on a bad team who scores meaningless goals very often, like when the opposition is up by 5 goals or when theres an empty net.

And suddenly proclaiming a player as the NHL's best, but a month into the season is whack, especially if the player plays in Georgia for a shitty hockey team. Keep it in your pants until at least the all star break my Yankee friend.

if your talkin best players in the league right, i'd def throw in jason spezza on ottawa. that line with him, alfredsson, and heatley is probably the best in the nhl right now.

Old news, they've been head and shoulders above any other line since the lockout. And Spezza's out with a sore groin... so if I'm picking one player it's Alfredsson.

God... you're such a homer. Try being objective for once. If you'd take Alfredsson over Crosby you should stop eating paint chips for five minutes and try watching a hockey game.

seriously, the thrashers have owned the sens so many times in the past.

And im not a fucking yankee, son of dixie right here.

You got me all wrong JD. That one was in reference to BigMac93 or whatever his name is. He mentioned Spezza from the Sens top line as a candidate... I meant if I was picking one player from that line it'd be Alfie.

I think Crosby is the best, and he's soo young too. In a few years he'll own the NFL.Kovalchuk is ok, I don't like him very much personally. I think he is comparable to zetterburg.
