U of U vs MSU vs PSU

Which college do you think is the best, including price, education, and quality of skiing? University of Utah, Montana State, or Portland State?

Not sure what you would be paying but....
Skiing - UU > MSU> PSUEducation - UU > MSU > PSU
BUT
City - Portland > Bozeman > SLC (sorry...SLC just makes me...ugh).
Price - no idea what each will cost
All 3 schools would be fun. Lots of skiers at UU and MSU, though, and you have access that is way better than at PSU (MSU - 20 to bridger, 60 to big sky/moonlight; UofU - under 40 minutes to "I Fucking hate all of you bastards!"; and PSU - 60 min to ski bowl, 75 to timberline, 90 to Meadows).

ive got some friends who go to msu and they love it. big sky/moonlight is super fun to ski to.

Skiing in Utah is better than Montana only because we get more snow.... However main st in Bozeman is off the fucking chain...but SLC has some good bars and parties as well (The Loft Party could be one of the coolest parties in history).

Either way you go, stick to MSU or UofU. I think you will be a lot happier with the skiing they have to offer no questions asked.

yeah i thought he meant penn state, and was like... uh, you're really considering penn stave vs. u of utah if skiing is a factor? snowbird/alta/brighton/solitude/PC/canyons/etc against tussey (and big boulder if you're down for a solid road trip) is not even fair.

utah is one of the most boring places you can go...aside from the skiing, which says a lot about the skiing--its the only reason i'm there and id rather shred UT daily than do anything else!

I'm going to PSU. I chose there because Oregon is the dopest place... ever? Portland is a sick town, its a pretty good education, cheap, and Hood isnt too far away. The summers are amazing here, as you can ski, hike, camp, hunt, go to the beach, and more.

yessir! and i got residency pretty easily, making price very affordable. MSU's got a great film department, great graphic design department, great architecture department...ya. but I did english, haha.

Thanks everybody for your opinions. keep em comin. and for those of you confused about PSU, i said in my description it stands for Portland State.

i went to msu its pretty well priced with awesome skiing in the area, plus theres a super sick rail jam there every year and tons of skiers and some really awesome parties! you cant beat three mountains within an hour and bigsky/moonlight had a free bus from campus to the mountain which was awesome.

When it comes to MSU or U of U it all depends on if you like park skiing, if you're just into all mountain shredding and pow, you'll have so much fun in bozeman, if you like park though and enjoy a decent park, SLC would be better. Both schools are decent and both have a good party scene, WAY more girls in slc vs bozeman and i personally like living in more a of city than a town.

i actually hung out with significantly hotter females and got laid significantly more often in Bozeman than I ever have in SLC... but sure.

MSU had a great vibe when i went toured it, great dorms, pretty much everything was awesome. 20 to bridger and an hour to big sky doesnt hurt either

didnt like UU that much, i kinda hate SLC

Well how does Big Sky and Bridger Bowl compare to Alta and snowbird for all mountain, PC for park, and the canyons for in between?

Big Sky and Bridger kick ass for sure, only downside in Montana is you won't be hitting nice park jumps such as Park City or Canyons, but you can build sick jumps.
But are you really gonna buy all those passes in Utah???
When it comes down to it, you can have just as much fun in Montana. The "scene" is much bigger and perhaps more fun in Utah, but it all depends on what you make of it.

University of Utah. Cheap, even cheaper once you get instate. Within 30/40 min of 7 mountains and arguably the best skiing in the US. Mormons never bothered me, skiing park at PC is the best thing ever, you can smoke weed and drink in the dorms very easily, The only thing that kinda sucks is the HC (dining hall), but its not even that bad.

I went to MSU for my freshmen year. While I was there I visited SLC 3

or 4

times because the skiing was so good. I eventually transferred to

Westminster College (in SLC). I graduated last spring from Westmini

and I've been living here ever since. SLC is nice because it offers

lots of good skiing, a real airport, jobs, cheap housing, chicks,

etc...

If you like small towns Bozemen is a great place; it just gave me cabin

fever after a few months, and I was blown away by the skiing in Utah.

That's just my experience,

Best of luck to ya!

a lot of me really regrets not moving to montana last year...

I could be moving to missoula or bozeman this fall and be ready to go next year...

shit happens though...

I just spent a winter in big sky and it was fucking incredible...didn't go to school at MSU but i had a bunch of buddies that lived in BS and commuted to bozo 2 days a week for classes and they enjoyed it. I didn't hit bridger up as much as i should have but I had an awesome time the few times i went.

I could be wrong, but I've heard that beer above 3.4% alcohol is not allowed in Utah...if that is the case, that is just criminal...good luck though man, as long as you can ski while in school you will have an awesome time

like eheath said. depends on what you want. i would not go to montana for park. U of U is dank, max 35 mins to about 6 or 7 resorts all with dank shit...from park to terrain. i love utah so yeah..

Why do so many people dislike SLC? I seemed to like it when I went down there, and I thought the town of PC was fun as well, I liked the vibes there, and it seemed like a pretty chill town.

cause youre only in pc when you go shredding, otherwise you are chillin in SLC where the girls are hot but are all mormon which means they are not fun to chill with at all and think they are being badasses for drinking liquor

im from portland oregon, visited msu thinking about going there and moved to salt lake to go to school.

overall for skiing

SLC>MSU>PSU

for life

PSU only.

whoever said bozeman is a better city that slc is a retard. sorry

I think I'm going to like MSU better though cuz there's not as much of a scene there. There's still a large community of skiers, but it's just skiing. No scene. And I know what a scene is: I ski Keystone and Breck haha.

I find living in the city to be the only shitty part actually. I hate cities. But the skiing makes it all worth it. once the snow is gone i can't stand SLC....

I was actually wondering something similar.

I've never been to SLC, but Bozeman isn't increible, but it doesn't suck. Bridger Bowl is LEGIT though. I went and visited some buddies up there this year. And the girls aren't bad, there are some not so great ones, but i guess it could have been much much worse - definately CU Boulder though.

Really? Really?? Utah is the fucking bomb--obviously you haven't been outside of Salt Lake... There's so much to do, and the land out there is beautiful. Ever heard of Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Arches, Monument Valley etc.? It's like living in a dream being out there, everything is so surreal and peaceful despite the thought of how much geological upheaval had to go on to give us all of it. I could understand you not liking it because it's largely a desert, or because you don't like backpacking and camping, but it's still no excuse to deny how beautiful of a state it is. If you want to talk boring, you have Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and the Dakota's... Seriously, Utah is NOT boring.

haha i live in michigan and i looked at this as like U of U.. MSU michigan state, And PSU penn state haha.. and i was going to say the skiing isnt even comparable to U of U if your in PA or MI

Im going to U of U though next year.
