who on twitter has the intellectual prowess and eloquence to make it worthwhile for us follow their "tweets"? Oprah? P. Diddy? Miley Cyrus?

I admit one of the more tantalizing features of twitter is that it allows you to follow certain professional athletes. It gives them a forum to discuss their training methods, thoughts on team events, and also allows us (the fans) to get some insight into the "every day life" of a pro.

It angers me when people try to tell their "fans" (or lemmings, if you will) how to live their lives. For example, when Oprah pushes "The Secret", or when Miley Cyrus thanks "Jesus" for letting her be a millionaire 16 year old.

Unfortunately, our society is very malleable, and they are especially susceptible to words spoken by celebrities. I hope these "celebrities" realize the impact their words spoken on twitter can have.

There are way too many people telling other people what to do today. There are books to tell us how to live our lives, news stations to tell us how to judge actions of others, etc.... People need to start thinking for themselves again.

people definitely have a reduced interest in their own personal privacy these days. some people literally live their lives on sites like myspace, facebook, twitter, and everyone and anyone has access to their personal lives as a result. Furthermore, this information will be floating around the internet for the next 500,000 years or so, who knows when a college picture of you necking some b-road at the bar will come back to bite you in the ass.

personally, i give as little information as possible on facebook (more than I would like thanks to the registration process), and I really only use to to keep in touch with those who are not in my direct circle of contact.

ok, i have a serious question.

has anyone else linked their cell phone to their account? im trying to, i get the code that im supposed to send to them, but nothing happens after that. i have unlimited texting so i know thats not the problem. does it take a while to activate?

Just refresh the device page and there should be some options whether or not you want device updates on or no. And after that just send your status updates to the number 40404 and when people you are following update their statuses you will get a text.

I just activate my cell phone twittering like 5 min ago.

Fuck all you twitter haters. I've been twittering for a good six days now and I have to say, it's boosted my self esteem tenfold. I can let everyone know how awesome I am at any point during the day. I already have like 800 followers, no big deal.

at first i would rip on twitter, then i got it, and now i like it. A ton of people are on it, and its a great way to network.
