Me Gusta...

I agree that the standard of skiers in the park is progressing and anyone with a camera can capture it. but please strive to film from a more artistic angle. try to make your style different and not about how hard you think you are. also rail slides with big jump are lame and it gets boring when every rail slide is the same trick

ive seen parts of me gusta and it is sick.. so save your money kiddies and purchase me gusta and dont forget BOGART

I HATE NY PRODUCTION

- BOGART!!!!!!!!

The only thing I dont like about all of them is the fact that most will charge a decent amount for their movies. Shooting with a minidv cam and editing on your computer doesnt cost that much, and most of these edit jobs certainly aren't ones that I would pay for....but hey maybe thats just me.

you have no idea how much it costs to produce a movie, even an "am" movie. noone will recover production costs except the big 5.

My weiner is probably harder than yours.

it really does cost ya quite a bit, not to mention hours upon hours of labor to make the movie, we're only selling BOGART for 10 dollars so itll be pretty hard to recover..

how can you go wrong? you can buy like three am videos for the price of a pbp video. im gonna buy double copies, cuz i had wicked three different times and they got taken before wski and volume.

Word, the videos coming out are looking REALLY good.

Someone already said it, but the East coast especially has to stop making the jumps onto the rails so big for urban, and never ever make the jump on the outside of the set.

wait, yalll best be buying ready strap blade comin out next year right? i heard that shits gonna be tight!!!! yea yea yea

Mini DV movies shouldnt be sold for money.

3 Chip or HD videos should be though.

DVD cases are like $1, the DVD is less than a dollar, the printing can be expensivem but you can get around it. Same with the jacket.

BUT the time you spend editing is rediculous. Plus it costs money to get out there and do it all winter long and travel, and all that.

10 bucks is a good cost for a decent Am movie.

20 isnt unreasonable if it is all there, editing, skill, and good cameras.

camera, tapes for camera, dvds, editing program. Yeah...its pretty much free, right?

Where did you get your clothes, the toilet store?

Ok, you dont need a 2500 camera to make a good ski flick. DVDs are AT MOST 30-50 cents per disc. If you pay anymore than that, you are getting ripped off. MiniDV tapes arent 10 bucks a pop, and you can re-use tapes. DVD cases are AT MOST, 25 cents a pop, unless you are buying them one at a time. As for editing, unless you want to fill a film with a crapload of useless effects, something as simple as iMovie can make a damn good movie. Effects aren't what make a movie for me, it's the quality of the filming and the flow of the edit. Maybe thats different for others. That about sums up the material crap.

As for other costs. most of the footage on some of these videos is either urban or resort/park footage. Therefore, its not really costing you anything that you would have spent anyway just to ski there. Yea, I recognize that some do more than this, but not all travelled around to different locations specifically to film there, and/or had a significant cost getting there and skiing.

Time, no amount of money can ever equal time "lost". However, I would assume that most of these people are doing it for fun. It is not like you are making these films to put food on your plate. So if you have fun doing these, the time isnt really lost, at least I dont think so. Yea editing takes a crapload of time, but that is something enjoyable as well. It does reach a point where it can seem like more work than fun, but I doubt you would be doing it on your own free time if it wasnt any fun.

For some of these films, the cost may be justified, but I sincerely doubt its the same for all, considering the content in all of them isnt the same. Some of them have mediocre filming, with a "point and shoot" attitude, with little, to no effort put into getting an original, creative, or artistic angle.

"I agree that the standard of skiers in the park is progressing and anyone with a camera can capture it. but please strive to film from a more artistic angle. try to make your style different and not about how hard you think you are."

I'm not bashing the skiers in these films, nor am I bashing the editors or producers of these films. I am just simply stating why I BELIEVE 10 dollars isnt really reflected in what you're getting. Am I trying to push my opinion about these AM movies on you? No. So I'm not going to babble about this any further.

tapes add up to alot, especially considering how many you can go through in a year.

And taping over results in lost footage each and every time its done becuase either someone didnt upload it or it is lost later.

Yeah I made a movie too, but I don't know if i should show it because none of us are any good at skiing...its like a half an hour of half-rails and straight air grabs

well a good movie usually does have $2500+ cameras I don't know what you're talking about. My GL2 was $2500, Arri 16mm cams are $2500, Sony HD cams are like $6000, so yes you kinda need them. you can make a good movie with a shitty 1chip cam but its hard cause it will look like shit. I know the way you film with it makes a huge impact but that only goes so far.

because I like pooh.

hahaha stupid dolphins.

could have said it better myself! I learned that the hard way last year. this year we have like 5% 1 chip camera and even though the tricks are good, it holds back what the rider has to offer. Sounds lame, but i hate to admit it, good camera makes a HUGE different.
