To all the am moviemakers

well, maybe for you the image qual is the deciding factor of whether a movie is good or not, but it certainly isn't that way for me.

It's pretty lame when some people will buy an expensive pro cam, and then not really use it, and claim it as a "production expense" Personally, I'd worry about getting everything else to be hot shit (the editing, shots/angles, style) before dumping 2+ grand on a camera. Basically, all too often, the "quality" of the camera/image is the only good thing about it.

You guys should all take a look at the PLAYBACK teaser... The skiers are good and put a lot of emphasis on their style without being wearing basket shirts or other shits... worth seeing ----> www.NewWayProductions.com

ok even if you don't buy an expensive camera they're still like 500 bucks minimum. But still some people are charging too much. Then they won't sell. Then they will never get they're name out. Therefore they're screwing themselves over. That's why Objection free

I don't mean to be rude but your fucking retarded. If you try filming with a cheap camera, you should see how the quality turns out. THEN, when you want to put shit in slowmo, the quality is diminished even more. As for it being ok to edit a movie with iMovie, I think not. That program is nothing but basic, and the shit and tech required to make a movie really flow just isnt there. You've obviously never tried to make a movie, and until you have I suggest you hold you tongue. As soon as you go out, film a whole movie with a 100 dollar HI-8 camera, edit it on imovie, and have it turn out decent, you can post your opinion on making movies.

Only thing that is going to change that is the framerate buddy. Yea, 30fps(29.97) doesnt look to hot when you try to turn it into slow mo. But the only way to shoot above that, is to either shoot in HD (60 fps), OR films, where you have a variable capture rate.

You dont need more than basic to make a good movie. Simple fades are really all it takes. You can have a good movie without a bunch of effects. Hell, even straight cuts really arent a problem, and are used all the time by everyone.

Way to go from one extreme to the other. There are plenty of miniDV cams for alot less tha 2500 bucks, that are alot better than a hi-8 camera.

Well Mr. Smarty Pants, you seem to know everything. But, as I'll say again, you know nothing. You've never even tried to make a movie so stop pretending you know what your talking about.

Actually yes I have. But I have better things to do than to try and prove myself, and what my own opinions are based on, to some random person who's got nothing better to do but flame me.

Isn't the point of an amateur movie the fact that we aren't professionals, and therefore it won't be as good? How amateur is it if you use professional equipment? I use just a plain-jane, "capture the family reunion" camcorder, plug it into my computer, don't even bother with slow motion, and my stuff turns out fine. I'm not sure how amateur a film can be when it's captured in HD with a 3000 dollar camera, but that's just me...
