This shinbang can't be normal...

So yesterday, I was messing around, just throwing some frontflips at Park City. I was stomping most of them, so I varied them up a little and started doing some slow ones. After a few slow ones, I did another, but kinda messed up when I was hucking it. I landed very backseat, and instantly felt the shinbang. This shinbang was easily the worst I have ever had. So i took off my skis and hobbled to the side of the slope. One of my buddies helped me down and I was in a ton of pain. I got back home and it was very swollen and killed, so I went to the hospital. Turns out I have a fractured tibia (shin bone) from all the pressure of landing backseat. I was not using any boots made for freestyle. Is this normal that I fractured my tibia from a backseat landing? And anything I should do next year (ski season is over for me this year) to prevent fracturing anything from backseat landings? I am definitely due for some new boots, but just looking for any advice.

I did the exact same thing to one of my shins at Whistler one year. For me it was a one off thing I didnt change boots the rest of that year and next and I never had the problem again. Just bad landing

yeah, i was doing kangaroo flips once, and i was stomping most of them so i tried doing them slower and the same exact thing happened to me, weird!!

just kidding, bro, had to give u some shit, but in all seriousness, you just get a ton of momentum coming from a front flip and that's a lot of pressure to put on your leg, if you get shingbang a lot, then its just a matter of time until something happens.....good luck tho, heal up and get back out there......

well it normal, if your skier who hit jumps and skis hard...but.. yeah front flips can give to you hard though.. i have felt bad shinbang from fronts when you land backseat..

I've done the same type of thing, but on a rail, but I didnt completely fracture my tibia, just had like a fracture of the outer layer of my tibia, not the whole thing. It fucking hurt at the time., could barely put weight on my leg. Getting taller boots has seemed to help, but it seems like that pain never quite goes away if I start riding park alot. I got some Raichle boots (like the Full tilt ones) and I like them alot better because they are taller on my leg, I have long legs, but I still get bad pain if I land backseat alot. Only way to cure it is to stay out of the park for awhile lol, the pain usually comes right back though with one bad backseat landing.

that same thing happened to me in wolf creek where i landed back seat on a flip and i went to the doctor and it ended up being a little fracture on the smaller bone in my leg

so true, then when he lands in the backseat, he justs snaps the buckle and falls out the back of the boot. id pay to see that

whenever i get shinbang, it only hurts real bad when i am on the lift or walking around at the bottom of the hill with my ski boots on. It will be really sore when i am just skiing around but when i am droping into a jump line or getting on to a rail, the shinbang just goes away like i forget about it or something, do you think it is because i am so focused on what i am doing that it goes away? Does anyone else get this???
