*Essentially was hugely humiliating for one of the former big powers in Europe.
*Because they were the aggressor of WWI and the loser, they got hit hard...
Why was it good?
*It finally brought peace to the bloody 'Great War'
*Brought stability to the area for the mean time.
*You could argue that it helped bring about the golden era
Why was it bad?
*Loss of territory
*Gave support to radicals
*Severely weakened Germany economically, militarily and politically.
So..to what extent was it responsible for the rise?
I'm not really too sure.. except that the republic was created after the end of the world war so in essence one could argue that the war was in fact what helped the establishment of the weimar
What extent was it responsible for the fall?
Not really a lot... it gave hitler a reason to be all radical and crazy and to "restore germany's honour" but there are so many other reasons as to why the weimar republic fell... most importantly the incompetence of Van Papen and Hindenburg in the late 30s.
