then tell me this.

to what extent was the treaty of versailles responsible for the rise and fall of the Weimar Republic?

(its supposed to be an essay but im just looking for key points right now)

+ Karma for good answers

it made all the women wear metal chastity belts which pissed off all the rapists who turned into murders in the annual meeting of the womanizers. those former rapists then roamed the streets eventually killing off all the noblemen who were the main info structure of the government. not able to sustain itself, many Mongols moved in to take control including burger meister bush the fifth. he passed what was then called the protectith of libertith act. this did not sit well with the people so they gathered all the disease infected poor people they could and tossed their poop covered bodies into the castle walls until burger meister bush retreated to his home of the red people. the commoners (now known as the toostie rollers) celebrated with many a beer.

made Germany owe everyone so much Money that there economy went to sh!t and then Hitler who was a brilliant speaker was able to take power and then changed everything to a dictatorship and got everyone to believe that all the countries problems where based on the fact that they had inferior people flodded in their country and the rest you should know how that went.

one of the reasons

yeah and the war guilt clause, which pretty much said germany was responsible for starting ww1. that pissed off a lot of germans, and hitler used that to his advantage.

that lead to a very persasive hitler to take his party to power using scapegoating technices. balming all the counrties problems on the "lazy jews"

Kai!

*It was very strict vs germany, it essentially raped them.

-high reperations

-limit on troops, only 100k

-no air force allowed

*Essentially was hugely humiliating for one of the former big powers in Europe.

*Because they were the aggressor of WWI and the loser, they got hit hard...

Why was it good?

*It finally brought peace to the bloody 'Great War'

*Brought stability to the area for the mean time.

*You could argue that it helped bring about the golden era

Why was it bad?

*Loss of territory

*Gave support to radicals

*Severely weakened Germany economically, militarily and politically.

So..to what extent was it responsible for the rise?

I'm not really too sure.. except that the republic was created after the end of the world war so in essence one could argue that the war was in fact what helped the establishment of the weimar

What extent was it responsible for the fall?

Not really a lot... it gave hitler a reason to be all radical and crazy and to "restore germany's honour" but there are so many other reasons as to why the weimar republic fell... most importantly the incompetence of Van Papen and Hindenburg in the late 30s.

I've not studied this in a while so it's a bit sketchy.. hope that helped

Wow, I pretty much had that exact same question on a test last year (essay).

Sadly, I'm not a history person and slept through pretty much all of the first half of the quarter leaving me with about 30% on that midterm. Fortunately I pulled off a 98% on the final and got a B- in the class.

What everyone else said sounded right. Good luck with that.

one important thing that i dont think anyone touched on yet:
it made the german people think their government betrayed them for agreeing to the treaty. they all thought the war was going great for them because of all the propaganda, so they were shocked when the weimar republic was force to sign it. because of this, they were eager to get rid of a "turncoat" government in favor for someone promising a new world order (hitler)

hope that helps. i loved euro
