you've prob never experienced the great smoky mtns or the appalachians

youve prob never experienced a million of other things that make the south great, that no one really observes because they are stereotypical bigots.

Also, the fact that being the original 7 states to secede somehow legitimizes a southern state seems a little politically incorrect.

I think simplicity is underrated, and government influence in places it should stay the hell out of is over rated. Hard work for something you love is under rated. Gay sex is underrated. Willow basketry is underrated. Park is overrated, the ghetto life is overrated
 
first off i dont give a shit if its politically incorrect.

There are only 7 states in the true deep south. 4, VA, AR, TN, NC, came later due to Lincoln's call for troops. Missouri and Kentucky never had formal secession and control of the CSA.

If youve ever been in the south, you would understand that non original 7 states pale in comparison to the others.

Pretty much totally agree with OP's list, except MSP isn't overrated because they are legit and their movies generally have a bit of everything and some seriously gnarley like "ima die" kind of shit.
Also Party Down isn't underrated because its pretty meh, and Kenny Powers isn't underrated because everyone I know who watches HBO thinks its one of the best shows on tv right now, which it totally is. So it is correctly rated high.
Also Mars Volta is overrated if anything, only their first cd was any good. And when you say Australian hip-hop, I'm interested who you are referring to. Lyrical Commission are completely ace and I love them, but I haven't heard much else come out of Australia other than their EP and solo EP's from members of that group.

I just saw this and thought it needed a response.

First of all, I've been to the South, and while it is more friendly and they care more about manners, their accents make me want to do. The food in the south, isn't good. Anything other then the fried chicken is just gross and makes me feel fat.

One of the reasons I hate the South is that exact point, you're willing to exclude a legitimately southern state from being apart of the South strictly because it didn't want to listen to the North when they wanted to abolish slavery, which is completely evil, and you treat it like it's such a huge and wonderful thing that they seceded. I've been to the SC low country, not that great.

I've never been to the Smoky's or the Appalachians, but that's strictly because I've had no interest.

I've been to the South multiple times, and all the things that would make me love the South, are incredibly overpowered by the bad things.

I just remember the first time I saw him on tv I was like "huh, the wheelchair kid from degrassi got on a new tv show or something, good for him". Then I realized he was rapping, and I almost raged, but then I remembered that mainstream rap is a huge circle jerk and no one in it has any street cred anymore anyway so I didn't really care all that much.
Still is ridiculous though. If I see a rapper, and I am pretty much sure I could beat him up, and he's not Mos Def, then I'm just laughing at that guy lol.
 
Have you listened to the newer albums? Yes, the first one is the best, followed by francis, then bedlam, then ampectecture, then octa, but to the general public, they dont even exist, and instead they just listen to generic pop music, instead of the great shit by TMV. Hopefully theyll be as good without their drummer, thomas pridgen.

I'm sorry you've seen Degrassi. I watched it everyday for 9 months. Why? Because thats what the 15 girls in my senior lounged wanted to watch on our tv, and I was literally the only guy in there, so I had no say.
When certain things happened on the show, girls would get upset, they took that shit so seriously, so I would be there to comfort them, the only advantage of the show being on haha
