The Stoked Thread

I'd love to get into rock climbing but think it would be destruction and a bad idea on my destroyed shoulder.

ohhhh fuck yes, oh my jesus, i think i just jizzed in my pants, this shall be glorious, I haven't been to New York in a bit, but let's just say that last time i was in Manhattan i almost got arrested for stealing booze from a hobo.

So I was just eating dinner at a friend's house, and his father informed me that himself and everyone in his prayer group have been thinking of me. He said they would like me to stop by the church sometime so they can "rub my leg and speak in tongues" in the hopes of healing my knee. I don't mean to offend anyone here who is more religiously inclined than myself, but the idea of a group of old people yelling jibberish and rubbing me seemed kind of funny.

/story.

yep. I've seperated my left shoulder and dislocated it 9 times. 6 of those were climbing. one skiing, one hockey, one swimming

My roommate drunkenly tried to steal booze from a homeless dude in LA a few months ago. It was really sketchy. He almost got stabbed, but I just felt bad for the homeless guy.

seemed like a good idea at the time, plus it'd make a good story

little did i know there was a cop walking the beat around the corner as i ran by him with an open 40 of Old English wrapped in a brown paper bag hahaha

I need something to do this summer. Please suggest something cool I could do that would pay for itself. Like working at a ski area in New Zealand cool.

Working in a ski area in New Zealand?

It'll be cheap cause you get double your dollar. If you're applying for a job you'd have to really get your ass into gear though, applications close soon

Stoked for the Jib Academy Edit making video of the week on the Home page

Although.............Consolation Prize?

starting classes on Monday for audio production at the Art Institute of Las Vegas. stoked.
getting a new 120gb iPod tomorrow. stoked.
getting a 17" MacBook Pro this weekend. stoked.

Fred's moving back to Michigan in a month. stoked.
getting my own apartment in less than a month. stoked.

In preparation for my trip to Jamaica in June, I treated myself to a present. I bought myself a nice shirt to wear out to dinner at the nicer places while still keeping my own sense of style.

I'm fairly stoked on it.

It's got to be better than Bob, a bob would be in the Meh thread...

This is stoked thread, maybe it's some Marcell or Emilio

Skied waist deep glades and pillows today for two hours before they shut the highway down. I JUST made it by, wooo! Now I get to go to work, sleep 5 hours and go back up tomorrow to build and shoot BC booters.

that's awesome. those things are so sweet.

As for my stokage, good day on the hill today. Took a couple shots, but I suck at photography, gotta read more and improve!

it's much easier to just randomly play with your camera and learn that way than to read about photography, IMO anyway

however, there are a few fine details that you'll need to look up

Ski photos are hard because almost all the angles have been done about 1,287 billion times and you are on snow, which sucks. Just shoot a ton and you'll get good shots.

it's pretty much all for school and costing up the ass... the idea being it will pay for itself in 4~5 years.
the DJ station just got WAY better. i was originially buying it from Lena's dad practically unused for $150 (a screamin deal since they retail around $750), but today he decided he likes me a bit. he offered to sell me a brand-fuckin-new JBL surround sound speaker system (two floor-standing 4-way, dual 8" speakers and two satellites), a two-year-old Yamaha amplifier (200w) to go with them, the DJ station, and a stand for the amp and DJ station for $500. retail on all of it's around $2,000, so i'm jumping on it and putting the majority of my tax return into it. i can justify the speakers, tuner, and stand for school... the DJ station is for "extra-curricular" activities, the idea being to eventually upgrade to something like a Stanton Digipak Pro V.4 by the fall/winter and be able to start playing clubs/parties (just by chance, the only two people i know out here aside from Lena both have ins at various clubs and have already introduced me to people who've offered me auditions when i have my shit together, two of those offers coming from strip clubs... yessssssss).
also, pursuing a job opportunity as a promoter for TAO/Lavo at the Venetian/Palazzo. slowly but surely meeting people and opening doors...

my first class starts Wednesday at 8am! stoked!

remember to expose longer than what your camera wants too, the light bouncing off the snow throws off the camera's light meter

Haha, and then you blow out the snow if the light isn't right. Fuckin' white shit! You get all kinds of fun WB issues in the shade, too.

This is why my photo final is a series of semi-depressing/semi-hilarious portraits. Without snow.

sick, djing is mad fun, I got a bedroom setup a few years ago just with a mixer and running virtual dj on my laptop

it'll be awesome having all the gear.

post up some mixes when you're up n running

Long live spring in the mountains.

-Mountain Bike today

-Ski with buddies from back in Western New York Saturday and Sunday

Doers it get better than being able to enjoy your two favorite activities on back to back days?!?

Its the perceptive filters thing though....you heard what you needed to hear at that time. I totally took a different impression away from hearing the same thing :P

Fucking filters!

Hey everyone! It's been a while, I think on some level I'm trying not to overwhelm myself, i guess its pretty common to be overwhelmed after having head trauma, but i wanted to say hey and just thank everyone for all their concern, love and positive thoughts while i was in my coma and after! You guys really are the best... and to think just a group of people on the internet, we got somethin pretty special here. :) So love you all, i hope everyone's life has been going pretty well the last couple months. :)

Tried a front off a booter today. I like.

Also, being high is great. Especially at the end of a long week with no plans tomorrow. Aaaaaaahhh.

Last few days:

Thursday AM: Sleep 4 hours. Get up. Ski waist deep pow.

Thursday PM: Hear rumor the pass will close for avy, so I drive back. Third to last car to make it before the cop closes the highway. Work at the store for 8 hours, roof of store starts leaking, damage control all night.

Friday AM: 5 hours of sleep, get up, go skiing. Lock myself out of my apartment with all my ski gear. David (bless his soul) drives instead, lends me some gear. Build a BC booter (3 actually) and have fun. We bail early so I can get back to work in time.

Friday PM: Late to work cause my landlords are late with the spare keys. Get to hear one psycho co-worker bitch about his relationship with another co-worker and how shes not talking to him anymore. This is where it gets good. Apparently, the guy goes back and 'play humps' (the night at the roxbury thing) the dude who's working produce, who has really just had enough of the high school like drama raging around the store. Produce guy tells him to fuck off and stop it, unstable dude just says he was joking, to which he gets the reply "At least I have something to hump." This is kinda the final straw I guess. Psycho dude starts kicking shit around and cutting up the produce with a knife as a 'threat'. Escalates. I get to break up a fight between employees in the front of the store when we're slammed with customers.

Rest of the night is kinda uneventful, went over to a buddies house (such a sick house, art everywhere, cozy and crazy) and smoked and just kinda unwound. Still woke up at 9 despite being really fucking tired, and I cant go back to sleep.
