The Stoked Thread

awd for sure. ive had 4wd before and it was ok. then i found out about awd, yeah its way better

finally got to take acid and hit the Strip last night.
a couple of Drew's friends are in town and we set it up beforehand that i'd help them find whatever goodies they wanted. so, i went to meet them last night at the Luxor (no offense, Drew, but they have a room at top of the pyramid... pretty baller looking straight down to the casino floor from a couple hundred feet up- kinda beats the view you had) and they were chill guys, the party was on. two brothers and a buddy of theirs celebrating one of the brothers' 21st... good place to do it. we had a round of Padron when i got to their room and the birfday boy hit the head before we went down to wait out the last 15 minutes or so until he was 21 at the bar. as soon as the bathroom door closed, his older brother told me they had dosed his shot (i should clarify- these guys do LSD a lot... they were doing him secret a favor) and gave me the tiniest sliver of blotter anyone's ever given me and told me "that'll be more than enough." dropped it on my tongue, let it sit for a hot minute, then swallowed and didn't think twice- i've been trying to make a night like that happen the entire time i've been out here. we made it down to the bar, got a few drinks, then went to pick up some snow and grass on the south end of town... the shit kicked in on the drive back. let's just say the LSD/yayo/weed/alcohol combo is somethin else. i love acid and have no idea how many times i've tripped... a lot... but i've never in my life been so worked over by such a tiny dose. purest shit i've ever taken... i dosed at 11:45 and called Drew to tell him i was walking on the moon a little over an hour later. off a piece of blotter not much larger than a pinky nail clipping. stoke! so, we ended up going all over the place south of the Mirage... Luxor, MGM, Planet Hollywood, Flamingo, O'Shea's, Harrah's, Caesar's (where one of them found a $100 bill in a bathroom stall, which we immediately got rid of at the bar... he kept referring to it as his "holy shit" and also went on to tell us about all the prositutes he's fucked in Thailand, all while sitting next to a newly-wed couple... fuckin hilarious), and Bill's before the sun started showing up.
we went back to their room after the sun started ruining our fun (i hate sunrise here... it's life's way of telling you to go the fuck home and i always feel like there was something left undone) and the two brothers took the last two hits and their buddy and i split licking the bag (sounds lame, but they had used the bag to hold a couple hundred hits for a few months... it was a little unnerving to actually be able to taste the shit). i haven't slept yet, still have a very comfortable body high, and my mind is floating.
Drew, you sent some good people my way. much appreciated. not sure that i'll see them tonight, but definitely hanging out with them tomorrow, so i'm stoked about that.
also stoked that Fred's leaving Las Vegas on the 15th. he ganked my last bowl, which was sitting broken-up on a magazine on my coffee table in our living room, i flipped shit. the kid's worth less than a cold, dried pile of dog shit and i made sure there's no confusion about how i feel. fuck Fred, fuck him in his deadbeat, white trash, uninspired, redneck, cock-loving fuckhole of a face. he needs to tuck his tail between his legs and crawl his pathetic ass back to fucking Michigan so he can do what people like him do- grow old struggling day-to-day at some dead-end job just to die in debt and without anyone who gives a shit. for the record, it isn't just this one simple bowl pack that has me pissed... honestly, i'm still so high from the LSD that i couldn't care less about not smoking today... my family, specifically my dad and i, gave him the opportunity of a lifetime and he pissed it away, then threw shit at us simply because he's jealous my parents are supporting me out here while he's on his own- life isn't fair, don't blame it on other people and don't fucking bite the hand that feeds you. needless to say, i'm stoked as fuck that fuckface Fred is finally going to be out of my life.

I dove SCUBA off a dive boat in Carmel today, and it was amazing. We has a grey wahle with us most of the way there, sea otters and kelp everywhere. We dive down, and fly along the reef with the surge, 2 feet off the ground and gliding past anemones the size of your chest, huge sea stars, chitons, nudibranchs, coral, kelp, bass and eels...
On the way back, humpbacks were breaching and otters were playing. I think I chose the right field of study.

Friends came up and skied the weekend.

Saturday skiing was meh, we had dinner and got some drinks.

Sunday greeted us with 7 inches of new snow, and we got at it ripping pow turns and then going to play in the park once it got heavy and slushy.

Great way to end the season ripping with a good group of longtime ski friends.

awesome weekend in tremblant despite shitty conditions and weather. Hottubs (including the worlds easiest poach), great food, tons of beer, and 2 solid nights in the caribou, all with 25 of my closest friends. Great times!!

Thats dope homie!

ps. its snowing here on my birthday...and its been spring like (~10*C and sun) for the last 2 weeks...i forgot what snow looks like and today i get 5cm of the wettest shit ever. Stoke?

Did you hit up shake down at all?

I only stayed for a few runs, but it was a pretty sick setup...

Just wish it didn't rain all day Saturday...I didn't even bother skiing Sunday...There was no "spring skiing" to be had this weekend =(.

I am meeting up with someone this afternoon to check out their 5D, STOOOOOOOOOOKED. If I can cut back on the bar expenses and get my other camera stuff sold, I will still be able to make first month's rent in May!

I loooooooove that car. Got to drive one for the better part of 2 months last summer for my job, black awd as well. Never really got to drive it in anything except dry and a day or two of rain so I can't help too much with the rwd vs awd thing from first-hand perspective. Having driven plenty of other awd and rwd cars in vairous conditions though, awd is probably your best bet if you have to deal with gnarly winters, regardless of which awd system it is.

I've driven and owned FWD, AWD and MR cars.

MR was the most fun in dry but in any weather aside from sunshine and dry roads, nothings beats the confidence and stability of AWD.

picked up my MacBook Pro today! went with a 15" instead of a 17"- i'm planning to pick up a 24" display this summer and want a smaller laptop as a more mobile work station. STOKED! this thing kicks ass.
on a "meh" note, i've had 5 hours of sleep over the past three days... i'm getting a little tired.

^Good call on the 15 inch. The 17 is just too big to be carrying around all the time in my opinion, especially since you plan on picking up another display.
Portland Trailblazers clinched a playoff spot after Phoenix lost last night, its been a 5 year drought. Now we just gotta fight it out and hopefully move up to 4th for home court advantage. Its mid 70's and sunny in town, I keep forgetting that its not summer and I need to do school stuff instead of riding my bike and tramping all day. I also have a pretty defined goggle tan, lots of stoke.

word, 15" is plenty. i'm going to have access to Mac Pros with cinema and HD displays and plan on getting my own before i graduate, so the 15" is perfect for a go anywhere, do anything laptop.

Made some hot sauce today off a NPR recipe. It sounded insane. It is. But its strangely good.

4 cups of peeled garlic

6 habenero peppers (or up to 12 if you like it really hot, seven was enough for me)

2 bottles of Louisiana hot sauce

1 tsp seasoning salt

1 tablespoon black ground pepper

Peel the garlic, destem the habenaro's, put everything into the blender and puree. Holy. God. Damn.

i took her to all the places i had in mind so she could decide if i made the right choice for a good spot.

snoqualmie falls (thanks rowen)

Nice, Will. She's gorgeous. It's guys like you, who raise the bar of expectations on losers like me. Thanks, man.

Best of luck!

It rained for just about two days straight down here. That creek is mellow and lame at normal levels. So we try to hit it every time it goes up like that. Muddy for sure, no snowmelt around here just rain water. We like to call it PA brownwater or chocolate milk, it's kinda like willy wonkas river just don't eat any for sure.

just takes practice. we've gotten people doing fairly consistent rolls in a pool in under 3 hours, others never get it. All about muscle memory and how comfortable you are under water

In a pretty whitewater worthy boat the shape makes em fairly easy to roll. Although i've only ever done it in flat water. I've heard the current or where your stuck can give you some serious trouble if your not careful. Luckily I haven't had to roll in rapids yet. There are a ton of different kinds of rolls you can learn though.

yup....my shoulder hates me when I paddle. Looking into a ton of strength exercises I can do for this season. Also considering a brace for a little extra protection

Seriously do. A good friend of mine has completely wrecked his shoulder from not being proactive. He just had his last and final surgery, and if it doesn't work, he's pretty much screwed with any hopes of being able to lift his arm higher than his rib cage.

So, take care of your shoulders!!!

1991 Turbo.

It's a N/A chassis with a '94 turbo motor swapped in. Unfortunately without me noticing when I bought it, the wiring for the ECU was done incredibly shitty. No solder, just twisted together.

She just died on the side of the road one day back in June of '07. I was broke that summer, and preoccupied with moving this past summer. She still sits at my parents house.

I may make a legitimate push to get her running this summer. Might just give it to a performance shop and tell them to rewire it.

Even if I sell it, it'd be more economical to have it running anyways. And to be honest, I fucking LOVED driving that car.

oh so not merely, not running well, but not at all. he's got a goofy turbo booster in it that sounds like you're at the dentist when it dumps. wooosh. swapped out all the cables and hoses to aftermarket ones so theyre color coded for whats in them. ive never driven it, but i love riding it in. if theres one thing ive forgotten to do in this world. its learn to drive a manual. yep. take away my manhood. i only know how to drive right-footed.

It was running like a top up until the very second it just turned off and coasted to a stop.

That thing was straight tits though. Mid 13's in the 1/4 mile, so it had some pep in it's step. Also was extremely agile and dead sexy looking.

get me a wiring diagram and i'll trek to buffalo and get 'er running, then scream her up to VT!!!!

Buffalo ---> Rutland in say..... 3 hours?

Your discussion of early 90s japanese sportscars reminds me, I really want to see if I can take my friend's 92 NSX that's just sitting in his garage off his hands. Fuck that was an awesome car.

Last time I was in LA I met a guy that had a bright red one that was supercharged and set up pretty much as a race car he could get grocieries with (with discomfort that was easily negated by awesomeness). I about shit myself just hearing it start up, then when he took off...

Day of spring shredding, that was fun. Park got way too slow to be much fun by the end of the day, but I switched to the big pow J-mo's halfway through the day and refilled the stoke meter. Big skis and spring slush = mega fun.

BTW, people at Stevens who ride park weekdays are fucking nuts. Saw a snowboarder try a double cork off the waterfall.

Uploading some photos of the MR2. I will post them up in here.

I am seriously missing this car right now.
