The Stoked Thread

Hot damn! I feel like I am in the minority with absolutely no permanent relationship plans on the horizon.

My kick-ass plaid shoes are dead, so I am getting some new vans boots.

not so much on the weed part, but i'm a few shots deep with some vodka. and have been talking to some of my best friends and re connecting.

On my FB wall:

"rian and i just decided that we're going to have a safari bathroom photo shoot and you're going to be involved. include laughter here. it'll be really great. ps. it will include rian in a bathing suit. asshole. call me for details. pps. wine was included in this message. x x x x . k & r."

My friends are amazing. Oh yeah, I know 100% that I have my job again this summer, which is the best news ever. $800 a week + DH biking 3 days a week = awesome.

Just got Photoshop CS3 successfully working on my computer. I can add InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver and Illustrator too, but with the exception of Illustrator, I don't know what the rest of those do, or have never used them before in my life. Oh well, now I just have to learn Photoshop. woo!!

yeah im a big fan of it! i cant manage to get the right tone with my fretless bass/amp though which kinda sucks...but thats what i get for buying a fretless i suppose :P Longview by Greenday just doesnt sound the same when i play it either.

InDesign is sick if you want to make magazine layouts, Flash for animation, Dreamweaver for websites (gotta know your CSS). That's sick man, I use CS3 and it's great.

If I have Dreamweaver and a basic coding background, how hard would it be for me to set up a website from scratch if i had a domain?

yea, I'm an architecture major, and do a lot of large scale printing to be mounted on boards to present designs. ID is sick for that. I have the CS4 Design Suite, and use just about everything in it except for Dreamweaver on a regular basis

So I was planning on moving to full-frame digital this summer, but things are conspiring against me. I just found out for sure that I will have my summer job again, which means I can afford most anything I deem to be rad. I have gotten a couple offers on my 40D (semi-solicited by myself) that may or may not work out. I was looking at selling the 40D and a couple lenses I don't need anymore and moving to a used or refurbished 5D, but then I was in the used camera store today and saw....a 1Ds mkII for $2099. I think I might lose my self-control and make myself happy soon, but I don't know which it will be with. But I am trying to think this through a bit since both have pretty distinguished pros and cons (well, mostly pros on the 1D) and I am shooting 95% film for my final for the next few weeks.

Woke up this morning to a text.

"Adrian! Why am I wearing your clothes!? How did this happen?"

I replied, "I don't even know.."

That's how you know you had a fun night!

to do it properly you'll need to know html and css. possibly some php and javascript if you want dynamic features.

to use it as a wysiwyg editor, you need to know next to nothing.

but you've got to sit down and figure out what you need your site for. using a cms and teaching yourself css to create your own theme template is probably the best way to go

I went to a drag ball last night, and it was probably the most fun thing I have ever done in my life. A hand-raise at the beginning showed that I was one of about 15 straight people in a crowd of 200 or so, and then men started dancing around in dresses...to amazing remixes of 80's pop songs. So I grabbed a couple rum and cokes, and pretty soon convinced the male bartender that he should hold the coke on my next one. I think that is when things went from normal funny to overwhelmingly brilliant. That is also around the time one of my gay friends informed me that he was going to get me (hilarious) and I started parading around with the gf--as a team, we were able to work the majority of the female population there, although it was mostly just her. I could write a novel about all the amazing things that went down last night, but I will just let your imagination run wild and you will probably not be far off the mark. Even though I am not gay and don't have plans on turning that corner, I have diminished interest in dating and hanging out with straight people...they are just so mundane in comparison now. Granted last night may have been a poor example, but still.

Got home last night from spring break, spent a week in Cozumel, Mexico. It was way less sketchy than I was expecting with all the recent drug cartel violence, (the police chief in Cancun was murdered about a month or so ago) but we had a great time. Got 6 dives in, saw a couple nurse sharks including a near 15 footer as well as lots of turtles and other cool things. Spent some quality time with my parents and younger brother, wish I could have stayed for another week but unfortunately its back to reality, more on that in the not stoked thread.

I've used Photoshop 7 for the last 3 years, but not in a photo-specific capacity, just really basic stuff using layers for marking up siteplans and aerials for work. I've used Illustrator a bit for laying out brochures (again for work) but would still consider myself a total noob. I plan on getting some photo specific books for Photoshop and doing a lot of reading in the next little while. The rest of the programs aren't of that much use to me right now, plus I don't have to time to learn them right now.

Oh and David, I hate you for getting 79 days in so far. I'm only at 33.

Better than my McConkey. Drop a shot of JD into PBR. The first thing uttered after I finished it was "HUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRGGGG"

Holy shit, been watching a documentary on Discovery about a motorcycle fanatic with no engineering background that basically designed a revolutionary MOTO GP contender. The engine, transmission, suspension, frame, etc. are all new patents that the guy somehow came up with on his own. The company is actually based out of Portland, OR. There are some articles on the website, definitely worth checking out for any gearheads or engineering types.

stoked i just went indoor rock climbing for the first time in like 5 years. gonna be climbing 2-3 times a week now, stoked!!!

Do you guys have Honours programs down there (its a 4 year program here where the B.A or B.Sc are 3 year).

You can graduate with honors, which means you have a consistent 3.5 GPA and a shitload of extra classes. Its really not worth it in the end.
