The Stoked Thread

supposed to get to +14 today w/ rain...plus rain this weekend too.

Stoked because that will get ride of all the shitty ass sand and leftover snow from all over the city and it will clean the roads for longboard season!

If we have a dry spring, I should be able to ride here in the valleys in a month or so. We will be free of snow over the course of today.
 
especially since im just AC, and don't have to deal with johnny-lost-his-parents, sally-broke-her-leg, and other generic bullshit, i pretty much just work on pow days.

unfortunately for yesterday, we had to go on a second bombing run after that first one there. the second one was in a complete whiteout. and we got crazy results. like 2 foot crowns, 200 feet wide, that ran super far. and just from handcharges, because we ran out of anfo. it was scary out there, lots of hiking, and didn't get done until 1pm. and then i was too tired to ski, plus everything was tracked out.
 
My patrol shift last night included:

- getting stuck on the chair for a half hour

- sweeping sketchy ice/rock runs in the dark

- hanging out in the patrol room watching ski movies hoping the boss didn't come visit

- sharpening my skis to deal with previously mentioned ice

- eating dinner

- taping random shit to other random shit

- harassing the rookie chick

- doing my 3rd and forth runs of the night on sweep to close the hill

I would gladly slog around in the snow blowing up shit in place of that. Many nights we actually wait for accidents just so we have something to entertain ourselves. I've been doing this gig way too long
 
Dropped the silver bullet off at the garage today. EVERYTHING is getting fixed. To celebrate this, Im drinking Sam Adams in the office. fuckin-a!
 
if your car is the silver bullet, shouldn't you be drinking a coors?

surprisingly no but the curb that jumped out in front of me was related to a-rod...apparently he had some beef with me.
 
Recession = loads of opportunity. I'm kinda stoked for this summer and the small business im planning on starting :D
 
Im glad to hear someone is optimistic about it...its a nice change.

Scope out msnbc.com, there's a slideshow on there about people that have become homeless in the Sacramento area and are now living in tents on the same ground that people used in 1933 during the depression.

my twisp project went out to ad in the paper on wednesday. its friday and 15 contractors have already purchased plansets. we gonna get bids waaaaaaaaaaaay below estimate.
 
Parents just surprised me with a trip to Mexico for spring break! I thought I was gonna be at home trying to scrape together enough money to drive to the mountain. Now its scuba diving and drinking on a beach in Cozumel.
Super Duper stoked!!!!
 
ha... wtf ... it amazes me to see that brand pop up.. the Restaurant, Dog Fish Head is about 250 feet from my deck at the beach.
 
dude the Dogfish Head Punk pumpkin ale they put out in the fall is DELICIOUS. I love Dogfish beers for sure!

BTW Steven and Seany J are getting ill nasty on the hill, I'm keeping my eyes on both of them!

Buddy of mine from Albany keeps trying to get me to head to Big Boulder with him, might actually get to do it one of these days, haha, I hear it's pretty epic!
 
oh, also stoked I'm getting up early as tits tomorrow, driving to mt snow, filling my camera bag with beer, and finding a bunch of PH'ers. should be a good time if we survive!
 
Am presently experiencing the kind of Stoke that can only be derived from a young man's first voyage to a strip club!

That combined with $8 pitchers was almost enough to make me cry...

Not really though, I feel dirty and as if I should probably shower...

SEVEN days, count 'em, seven! until my car is back on the road. After having to drive my parents Mazda around, which is old, noisy, and ugly, I have much more appreciation for my beautious Suby. Can't fucking wait.
