The Stoked Thread

It's more so the money that will be held ransom while NYS takes their dear sweet time in refunding me for my NYS registration. I do want to get it done as I know for a fact that cops here target out of staters.

As for the Sunday storm, I see no way mixed precip occurs with this storm. Temps are going to be WAY too cold. One degree overnight low for 3000 feet at K on Sunday night. Even with warmer air aloft, it will be thoroughly frozen by the time it reaches the ground.

New car stoke! I finally got a subaru, 2001 Outback Ltd. with a 5 speed. AWD is so nice, can't wait for the many road trips it will see this season

Mt Hood Meadows + 20+" in the last 24 + 191cm Great Scotts = Dear fucking god.

Most face shots I have had in awhile. Most of the time I could hardly see. I had to bail at noon to get back to Portland and get ready to leave tomorrow, but it was fucking sick.

26 and 25 were nutso this morning. I was up there by 755 and I was breaking trail a lot of the time.

The roads were way better on the ride back to portland.

It got way way busy too. Lift lines were not super good. But the shots were bottomless.

Congrats on the suby! I miss mine for sure. There will probably be a 2006 legacy 2.5GT 5speed or outback XT 5speed in my future. But recession = balls.

Yea the recession is shitty, but if you have the money there are huge deals out there. My uncle just bought a one owner 2008 STI with 4k on it for 26,000. A couple months ago that was unheard of

I don't want an STi. I outgrew my boy-racer phase after 2.5 years of a WRX with STi suspension. If I go that route again there are only two options. Mitsu EVO or Nissan GT-R.

Got my skiing fix by shredding Gasworks hill in Seattle. Got some cool shots of a skier with the seattle skyline, a rare sight. Lots of sledders, but a fun little pop and did some 1's, skied backwards... got a little of the ski bug out.

Tomorrow tho... I'm skipping work.

Epic day today.

Anyone who knows me, knows I am not all that great in the park. I always lacked confidence, and was sketched out by rails.

Today I went into the small-medium park and started hitting a small 10 foot 3 inch wide flat bar that was only about 1.5 feet off the ground. I basically killed it. Super smooth slides with no sketch factor at all. I actually felt more comfortable on the rail than I am on boxes. It was such a major confidence booster. I just need to get better at larger gaps onto rails and then I am ready to kill shit.

I also got my air sense back on the small ass jumps and was doing some super fun straight air shiftys. Wicked fun day even though I was solo.

Took a lap through the trees too off the K-1, and they are 100% primed for the new storms that are on their way tomorrow and later Sunday. I just hope the Sunday storm is later so it isn't all tracked out during the day Sunday.

An actual conversation that just went down between my parents:
Marianne: My friend's daughter just kicked heroin and now she's living in Alabama and she's doing really well.Dave: That's great to hear. How'd she kick it?Marianne: Apparently she found Jesus.Dave: What's Jesus doing in Alabama?Marianne: Dave, knock it off!Dave: And what kind of cult is "heroin"?Marianne: What?Dave: You said she was in a cult, right?

It's sooo good to be home for the holidays.

let me try that again.

HEAVY AMOUNTS OF SNOW WILL FALL ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST CATSKILLS... THE MID HUDSON VALLEY... BERKSHIRES... AND LITCHFIELD COUNTY. SNOW WILL BEGIN ACROSS THE REGION FRIDAY MORNING... AND WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF TO SNOW SHOWERS BY MIDNIGHT.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION FROM THIS STORM WILL BE 8 TO 16 INCHES ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST CATSKILLS... BERKSHIRES AND NORTHERN LITCHFIELD COUNTY. IN THE MID HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHERN LITCHFIELD COUNTY... 7 TO 14 INCHES WILL FALL.

I think I peed a little from excitement.

yeah that shit was funny

as far as snowmagedon...im with chris on this one, "more like nomagedon!!"

It is currently puking snow in Bozeman, and Bridger is going to open up their retardedly sick new lift today (weather permitting).

Here's the latest text to accompany the monsters

December 19th, 2008

THREE MORE STORMS BETWEEN TODAY AND CHRISTMAS TO ASSURE KNEE TO HIP DEEP POWDER…

FRIDAY NIGHT STORM – A quick mover, the northern Green mountains will be seeing 3 to 6 inches with heaviest part of the storm arriving late this afternoon until about midnight when the northern fringe of this storm system exits. All snow – it wil be very fluffy and near Snowbird Alta type quality. Winds should not be that strong as in other storms as a steady northerly bleed of arctic air oozes out of Canada. There’s a chance for lesser amounts than forecast if to much dry air becomes entrained across far northern Vermont, but I think the Jay Machine will prevail. As storms go – this will be the baby of the next three.

SUNDAY-MONDAY STORM – Two parts to this monster, which will be tricky in other areas of Vermont to forecast for but not Jay Peak. First part warm air advection will be the main lifting component dropping around 7 to 14” Sunday afternoon and night. As the low pressure jumps onto the coast and reconsolidates in the Gulf of Maine, a term we use in weather called “bombogensis” will take place causing explosive deepening and intensification of the low pressure system as it departs toward the Canadian Maritimes. A dry slot where snow may become light for a short periods of time Sunday night will be followed by and impressive deformation zone or wrap-around. The “WRAP” could kill Jay Peak with impressive snowfall rates along with enhanced up sloping produce more by the terrain on the back side of the system into the day Monday. White-out blizzard like conditions may also result if current modeling is correct. Thus another 6 to 12 inches on the back side can be expected resulting in the biggest dump of the season.

our holiday party got cancelled because of all of the snow. not too shabby though because one of my bosses gave me a giant bottle of jack d for xmas so im drinking that right now with a splash of coke. sshhhh dont tell anyone muhahah

We're getting pounded with snow now.

BV is dope if the park is rocking...otherwise is kinda meh

i'm heading home for Xmas break today!

hopefully i'll be setting up my ontario BC park too !

Weatherman just came on and said tonight's storm has spread out and slowed. Northern VT should get over 10" into tomorrow. That's on top of the 14" we got in the last 3 days:)

Bridger opened their new chairlift today. It was awesome. I ended up getting first tracks down two different spots, one of which involved a 100-150' straightline with a rock wall two feet from my shoulder. The new terrain is really, really sick, and once we get some more snow some big lines are going to go down!

This is our new south boundary (end of last year):

6 1/2 hours later I'm at Jay drinking a Henny n Coke and smoking a spliff.

fuck driving in a blizzard the ENTIRE way

well, if anyone was wondering how montana is, our thermostat is set at 115 degrees, and I'm sitting in my room wearing boardshorts and drinking a strawberry daiquiri with 4 times the recommended amount of rum in it. life is good.

and it's like -10 outside

We got HAMMERED here at K. WAY more than forecasted. 6-10 was forecasted, when I left the mountain at 10:30 it was still dumping and there was well over a foot of the fluffiest blower powder I have ever seen.

I'm calling 15"+ for the morning ski report.

Monday will be interesting as the timing of this thing is putting at more of a daytime sunday storm, but we will see how it pans out.

Yeah, they biffed the storm track on this beast. It's too bad I have to learn how to see tickets tomorrow instead of shredding.

I'll just need to be ready to kill it Monday morning for the bigger storm.

Amplid has a solid fucking ski/snowboard team

Threesome from Amplid Research Cartel on Vimeo.

that's like saying, "i'm either getting an M3 or an Enzo." the Evo's still a pretty functional car... the GT-R's a full-on supercar- it's got faster lap times than GT2s and Gallardos. you had me laughing out loud for a second in Starbucks, which made me look like an idiot. thanks. the price difference is about $40,000... sorry, i just thought this was hilarious.
STOKED that LVSSR has almost 5' of snow already! this means i'm doing some hiking once my bootz get here, which means i have a raging boner... also embarassing in Starbucks.
