The situation in Afghanistan

Are you really defending the way in which Biden just left Afghanistan? Leaving US citizens stranded, leaving the Taliban all of our military weaponry, and meanwhile allowing a suicide bomber to kill marines as well as hundreds of Afghanistan citizens?

The way in which we exited is a complete disgrace and leaving US citizens behind is un-American. Regardless of your political party, Biden is looked at by the rest of the world as weak, and he's proving them all right with the way he handled this.

It's my guess that it's "Trump's Fault" for this idiot. Hilarious how Biden is a worse airheaded moron and now all the Anti Trumpers are silent. Speaks volumes to the party. Can't own up to jack shit.

Trump literally was the dumbest dude alive and Biden is making him look like a GOD. BAHAHA

This withdraw was long overdue. Glad Biden had the balls to actually do it. Obama and trump both said they would.

Is it a shit show? Yes. How could it not be.

They could’ve left Bagram and Kandahar airfields open long enough to withdraw to start with. Wouldn’t have created one concentration of evacuees for isis to target.

By “they” you should actually say who made the decision. Senior military leadership made that call. Not Biden. He deferred to the Pentagon to make that tactical call. And yeah they probably should have left it open but the DOD said if they were to leave Afghanistan on time they had to reduce troop size and could only watch the embassy or Bagram and leadership chose the embassy.

The Taliban is murdering everyone who associated with the USA. They're pledging to treat women equally while they behead those not wearing hijabs. People are falling from the wings of planes just to get out of their own country.

Really puts in perspective how good western culture has it.

The current US administration is hiding and pretending nothing is happening.

We really need to help those in need. People who voted Biden should donate first =)

You know what, Im not even blaming America or Biden or Trump, or anyone for this one... Yeah, America had a part to play, and we made mistakes, but we didnt create the mess in the first place...

Fuck the soviets for messing with a, disjointed, but at least peaceful(?) country in the 70s, and fuck the British for creating it in the first place... Should have told Pakistan to get bent and allowed them to form a Pashtunistan... just like we should have told Turkey to get bent and allowed a Kurdistan to form in Iraq (again, Thanks Britain for fucking shit up - and in this case, also fuck you, France)

And last but not least, Fuck the fucking Taliban, and all religious extremists. The worst members of humanity...

Through all of this, Apparently there are about 27 california public school students all from Sacramento stuck with their families in Afghanistan right now... Many of whom might be in transit out of the country (along with millions more, no doubt) This whole thing sucks.

Actually, you’re proving my point. I saw this vid on Twitter, thought it looked odd, did 2 minutes of research and was able to identify with my own two eyes that he was moving and attached by the waist while trying to mount a flag. Thanks Twitter for allowing me to access all the information. Sorry I didn’t jump to conclusions like whoever posted it in this thread?

Also, fuck Genghis Khan for fucking up the county in the first place. He was the one that slaughtered all the villages in the valleys and is largely responsible for the tribal mountain factions that persist in the country today.

The British retreat out of Kabul in the 1st Anglo-Afghan was is still the peak fuckup in Afghanistan. They literally lost the entire army in the mountain passes.

I think that there is going to be so much international scrutiny and pressure for the taliban to try and run a country that not much will happen for a bit. whether thats to say some other terrorist cells dont act up is another issue. In the past when the taliban has controlled cities, they've fallen apart from the inside because they arent organized enough to have infrastructure. itll be interesting to see how they try and function as a gov

The recent protests in Kabul were wild. The running joke I kept seeing was “ok taliban good luck actually running a country now” because the majority of the population looks pissed and unfortunately sharia law doesn’t help you that much with operating an entire country in 2021.

No but they allowed al qaeda to proliferate in their country and supported them. We literally have been fighting the taliban for the past 20 years and their views are nearly synonymous. They've also indicated they are allied with them now still. So in a way, yeah they did help attack us.

And ur retarded. Fox News is to conservatives what CNN is to liberals. Although fox has propagated fake news so less trustworthy imo. CNN is still very biased too.

Meanwhile kids are fighting online from the same country, and their fellow citizens are still stranded in Afghanistan! Sad times for America.

"Durrr the Talibans let them stay!"

Have you watched the news? 200 more Americans or afghans with visas got out via the Kabul airport. This might indicate cooperation although the political rivals are certain to need spec ops extract which it's funny you nuts can't comprehend we won't be told about preemptively.

Biden conducted a "righteous strike" on Aug 29 to avenge the Kabul bombing that killed 13 US service members.

2 year old Malika Ahmadi was among those killed in Biden's "righteous strike". Her father (a US foreign aid worker), and 7 other members of her family (6 children) were among the victims.

Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said: “U.S. Central Command continues to assess the results of the airstrike in Kabul on Aug. 29. We won’t get ahead of that assessment. However, as we have said, no other military works harder than we do to prevent civilian casualties. Additionally, as Chairman Milley said, the strike was based on good intelligence, and we still believe that it prevented an imminent threat to the airport and to our men and women that were still serving at the airport.”

I’m not sure what your point is. Are you trying to argue about the use of drone strikes altogether or just talk shit about Joe Biden?

So has almost every US president ever along with some committing human rights violations. Along with the Congress that won’t hold them accountable. It happens on both sides of the isle weather that be Trump or Biden, Obama or Bush, Clinton or Bush… Think of the atomic bombs? Both were horrible war crimes that killed thousands instantly and still effect the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which according to the US DOD and defense advisors didn’t need to be dropped because island hopping was working and efficiently. Or Agent Orange in Vietnam? Children are still being born with birth defects because of that, and horrid cancers develop in the people that live there because of those chemicals. Or maybe think of how after 9/11 on us Soil the FBI and NYC police had the power to arrested any person they wanted to who looked like they were from the Middle East with little to no evidence. Purely based off the idea they are suspicious. And anyone with any evidence against them and some without we’re imprisoned unjustly in Federal Prison. Some were even sent to Guantanamo Bay, where they were tortured, interrogated, and beaten without any access to the outside world or a lawyer of any kind. Some of who were innocent and as young as 15, 16, 17…

the us has done many awful things, most of which US presidents knew about. I don’t think president Biden’s response in Afghanistan was a good one, nor does above make it right. Butttt I don’t think it would be a easy task for any president for that matter.

First off the DOD never said that because the DOD was not formed until 1947. Second off you need to pay attention in history class. The bloodiest battles of the war were fought island hopping and it was not effective at all. The Japanese planned on fighting until total destruction of their country. The bombs were dropped on 2 industrial cities to cripple what remained of the Japanese manufacturing of war equipment and to force them into an unconditional surrender. Maybe algebra isn’t the only class you are failing.

I think you misunderstand the Genova convention.

Really?

The Geneva Convention defines a war crime as:

Wilful killing;

Torture or inhuman treatment, including biological experiments;

Wilfully causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or health;

Extensive destruction and appropriation of property, not justified by military necessity and carried out unlawfully and wantonly.

It further defines violations as:

Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population as such or against individual civilians not taking direct part in hostilities;

Intentionally directing attacks against civilian objects, that is, objects which are not military objectives;

Intentionally directing attacks against personnel, installations, material, units or vehicles involved in a humanitarian assistance or peacekeeping mission in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, as long as they are entitled to the protection given to civilians or civilian objects under the international law of armed conflict;

Intentionally launching an attack in the knowledge that such attack will cause incidental loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects or widespread, long-term and severe damage to the natural environment which would be clearly excessive in relation to the concrete and direct overall military advantage anticipated;

Attacking or bombarding, by whatever means, towns, villages, dwellings or buildings which are undefended and which are not military objectives

Keyword is intentional. If the stories are true it sounds like bad intelligence. It’s fucked up and sad but I doubt it was intentional.

Yeah there is a serious lack of reading comprehension lol does jahpow really think Biden was sitting around smiling like “let’s fuck this kids world up too!”

Hell, trump was the biggest piece of shit in the White House in my lifetime and I don’t think he personally sat around and thought “let’s smoke these civilians too!” while authorizing drone strikes…

Are you guys really arguing about civilian casualties? The blast that killed them was amplified by the material in the vehicle. It's called risk benefit. Sacrifice a few for the many. 160+ afghans died in the first suicide bomb. That many or more woulda died again if that car blew up including more Americans, but you're crying about 7 people who were unintentionally killed as a result of preventing a massive attack.

I love how civilians try to explain or argue war decisions with only a fraction of the information the federal government has. Just stop. It's sad and sucks for sure but shit happens, and that's why war sucks.

We said we were getting out and finally have. It wasn't gonna be pretty either way, and this decision started well before Biden took office, but I still woulda supported Trump on it too. Over 100,000 people were evacuated, and some Secretly. It appears the Taliban might be different this time around but cautiously optimistic. Quit crying about this country and focus on ourselves for once. We got over 1500 Americans dying every day (677,000 to date) from a preventable virus, yet we are over here arguing about 7 people. We have a problem we can fix as a country but we choose not to. We have a problem that we made and are continuing. We would rather complain about decisions in a foreign country. Unbelievable.

we remember 20 years since. Actually woke up this morning on the dot when towers were hit.

bad day to have to reflect and say—unless you’re a defense contractor, we lost that war. Wasted trillions of dollars, sent tons of “good ol’ boys” to have their wives defiled by Jody while deployed, lost thousands of military casualties, tens-hundreds thousands of civilian casualties in the region not exactly helping our image abroad, pulled out in just as a losing fashion of Vietnam, wasted wars, we did what we had to do after September 11 attacks I do believe that, but it was a lose-lose situation all around
