It was basically a plan to carve up the Middle East into puppet states to get oil which created the Middle East as we know it today. Between that and the British saying "Fuck it" and allowing the Jewish terrorist factions to take over Israel when the Palestine Mandate ended after they bombed the King David hotel and some railroads.
So all that sums up to a lot of pissed off people in a region that are easily united by the more extreme factions of their religion.

The radical Islamic faction, Hezb-e Islami, which was armed and trained by the Israelis and the US, went on to become al Qaida. It is also important to note that the Israeli covert operation to arm and train Hezb-e Islami was carried out by Ehud Barak, the head of Israel's Military Intelligence Directorate, AMAN (1983–1985). The Irgun, Stern Gang, Lehi, Haganah were ruthless Zionist Jewish terror groups, the leadership of Israel are simply the pupils of these groups.
Ehud Barak, the former Israeli prime minister and chief of defense, also happens to be the first person on 9/11 to blame Osama bin Laden and al Qaida, something he did from the London studio of BBC World television, literally before the towers 'collapsed' and before anyone knew what the hell was going on.
Barak stated: "Bin Laden sits in Afghanistan," Barak said on 9-11. "We know where the terror sites are. It's time for action."
Barak further stated we must create a coalition that institutes global war on terror (Yinon) and proposed we bomb Palestine (which we never did), Afghanistan, Iraq and we send US forces into these areas.
Interestingly, the Associated Press broadcasted a staged event called the dancing Palestinians where hours after the attacks, 'journalists' told a group of Palestinians to cheer if they wanted several cakes for free, so they cheered for the camera and that story was then propagandized around the world as Palestinians celebrating the terror attacks. Of course, we know now who was celebrating 9/11, that would be the dancing Israelis who set up cameras to capture 9/11 before it happened. These were Mossad agents that fled back to Israel (let off by dual-israel Chertoff) and openly stated on Israeli tv that they were "there to document the event" (all of this can be read in the FBI's TwinBomb document where they discoved hundreds of Mossad agents in NYC just before and during the 9/11 event).
Why would Ehud Barak, the most senior member of Israel's military intelligence establishment, call for the U.S. to invade Afghanistan before any investigation of the terror crimes of 9-11 had even begun? How would Israel benefit from a U.S.-led
invasion and occupation of Afghanistan?

Probably all just coincidences, because like all the Evangelicals say, ISRAEL is OUR 'greatest ally!'
As for Israel and the US arms deals, Israel had ripped off the U.S. government and its allies in the anti-Soviet campaign in Afghanistan for $300 million in 1985.
