The Official X-Games Pipe Finals Thread

word to that!

on another note....... i wish tanner had stepped out of his comfort zone on the third run. If he turned cab 7 to 10 or alley oop 9 to 10. dayummm then again he's probably looking towards the rest of the year and a film seggy

what he said at the end was good. The mic was the place to mention left and right. Glad to hear him plugging the olympics instead of his crew. I wouldn't have talked to Simon right then but to each his own.

if only i had seen the runs! nothing worse then being stuck in the aspen airport watching the flash bulbs go off in the pipe

andreas' run was better than simon's and colby's.

the most solid example of ambi-spinning, solid grabs, a variety of spins, style, and above all style.

the wow factor should not be the judging element in this sport, we need to focus on skill

anyone with me?

how can you say Simon had a more technical Run. Less Hits = Less

Technical, Spinning one way = Less technical, Less grabs = Less

Technical, Bigger Air on his first 2 hits = More Amplitude (not

technical). Tanner hall Spin both ways = More Technical, More grabs =

More Technical, More Hits = More Technical, New Trick (ally oop flat 3

to switch 7) = More Technical. So I am going to have to beg to differ

with your comment. However, I did like Simon Dumonts run alot. If it

were snowboarding halfpipe Simon would have won, cause snowboard pipe

is always about amplitude. I think both athletes had amazing runs but

technicality beat out amplitude this time. I thought that the least

classy thing to happen to x-games was throwing snowballs at the judges

and booing Tanner Hall though. T should have won and he did. And even

if you think Simon should have won, you must be quite homosexual to boo

the judges and Tanner. Get some Class Colorado. On top of what I have already said here, I think that Andreas' last run should have been score higher, and I think that Colby should have gotten a higher score, although I don't know that either of them should have beat Simon and Tanner. Although I do think that Andreas has a really technical run with all of his different grabs, and Colby has some awesome switch carving up the wall.

However, most of the kids who care enough to throw snowballs at tanner and at the judges are probably kids who care about skiing alot, and most of the kids who care about skiing alot can't make it to colorado to watch the x-games, so most of those kids were from Colorado. Although I really was joking as it had the same rhythm as Ron Burgundy. And also, how would reading a book help me to know that, wouldn't I have to read something more similar to an almanac?

the book thing was intentioned to mean that aspen attracts the most tourists than any other city in colorado...Iv lived in colorado all my life and havent been to aspen...its to expensive...but my bad

jonsgoing to tear the course a new arsehole with dubs on 2 or 3 out of the 4 jumps. But That is just going to be it, one decent battleship jib and a 2 meter up box. The designers need to face the fact that off of EVERY feature air tricks will be thrown. First up, 360 or 540 switchups on the battleship into 810's and 990's off the up box, then into 4 jumps. But even though there is a lack of jibs I think it is going to be very good watching.

I'm willing to put my name in for that, I agree completely. I don't know where Lolo is, but tonight Andreas had the most interesting, most diverse run. In my book, boosting 15 feet out switch beats boosting 20 feet out reg any day, and the grab variety was nice to see.

I gotta say, tanners run was amazing. He did an exellent job of blending style, technicality, switch hits, amplitude and spinning both ways. The booing was the most tasteless shit I have ever seen in my whole life.

Badass run T-Hall, and congrats on the three peat!

Thank god for this event. This rivalry has put faces on free skiing and made our sport explode. Some of my school buddies who never ski know all about the Tanner/Dumont controversy.

I hope that every year the competition is this close because that means there is progression and once progression stops skiing goes the way of inline...

dumont and hatveit both had sick runs but tanner just went bigger than everyone else...dumont had hugeeee first and second hits but after that he sorta declined. tanner was boosting bigger toward the end of the pipe. he deserved gold

by the way did you guys hear what he said to simon after he finished his run?? he was telling him to learn to spin both ways and he couldve won.........god i hate tanner hes good but i fuckin hate him hes such a punk

He told Simon "You're the best halpipe skier in the world, I want you to know that, the only reason I won was because I spun both ways, not because I'm the best skier, if you would've spun both ways you would've won"

yeah he's such a punk.......

preach.

also......for those of you who havent learned math yet:

Tanner: 92.33 / 7 hits = 13.19 each

Simon: 91.00 / 5 hits = 18.20 each

Simon scored better per trick, but Tanner maximized his run within the pipe length

Its just as Tanner said: Simon is the better halfpipe skier. But Tanner COMPETED better

Ditto - Tanner was just more technical and although Simon may have had more amplitude, he only spun one way and had less hits. Both are great skiers, but Tanner just pulled off a more technical run.

i would say that tanner is at the top of his game now. in his pipe run he was going pretty big. and doing crazy technical stuff tonight.

as far as the top goes i think the judges got it right, now i think a couple of guys got screwed after the top two. Tanner was out of his mind consistent all three runs, i felt like i was watching a video game.

I was actually pretty pumped on pete olenick's last run, he stomed that whiskey flip, and the rest of his run was turning out very nicely until his little fall. might have taking podium with that run?

Morning after...

Andreas got shafted again. The difficulty of his run is just on a whole new level.

Hall deserved gold though, as he was nearly robotic, and his run was incredible.

Freeskiing looked real good last night though, and It made me proud.

I know where you are coming from, it's a crowd pleaser for sure, just like people watching a huge back flip from the lift.. The big air contest is coming up, Simon should enter that.

Its a halfpipe run, not a SuperHit comp.

Big deal if simon got higher then tanner on his last run, tanner still had one run left...he would have taken it back no problem. He's leagues ahead of simon as far as skiing ability goes (but they are both pinnacle ski athletes, I don't mean to sound like i'm knocking simon because he fucking kills it too, tanner is just better).

No Shit. I said the same thing last night. Why not at least make them bigger, or follow the ever so popular jersey trend. At least a jersey is not restrictive and tight.

Its the Xgames...shouldn't they know who the athlete is? It's not like there are 4-5 guys in the pipe at one time. I dont think bibs are even necessary.

but think of how much money NAVY paid to get their logo on those bibs.

at least with a jersey ESPN would still have a place to stick more logos and make money
