The OFFICIAL bs/mlb 12/13 thread

I got to ski it two seasons ago, definitely a burly line.

I hope they open it up this year, I would love to ski it again.

So I heard. I wonder if this was the same dude who broke into the top shack two years ago and signed out for the bi couloir as Jamie Pierre, left Taylor's personal cell number, and then dropped into the big direct from the tram on a snowboard.

listening to the radio conversations was priceless

patrol- "we're right on his tail" (at the bottom of the triple, keep in mind they're on skis and he's on a board)

dispatch- "keep us posted"

a couple minutes pass

patrol- "we lost him"

glad the patrollers can't beat a snowboarder on a flat area...

not skiing yet, but walking all normal and shit. they stuck titanium rods in my femur and tibia so they're bearing all my weight while my bones heal. I'm back to working Swifty for the rest of the season, I just have to download like a dweeb instead of skiing down.

i got half offs to big sky, if you want some let me know, i work swifty mon-thurs and can hook it up

mountain mall. the dude had his pass stripped at both big sky and moonlight the day before and got fired from his job at YC for banging some celebrity so he basically gave up and was waiting for patrol at the doors. its quite the saga really. apparently he dropped into the coulair flipping everyone off and then biffed the landing. #yolo

Dear big Sky park crew,

i payed 800 dollars for a season pass here. All I want is some jumps. The only jump you have, and im not counting the piece of dump at the base, is terrible. in order to clear it you must go mach 30 and its still easy to knuckle. its a 35 foot jump! why the hell is the lip 8 inches tall? just make the lip a foot taller at least, so you can actually boost your tricks to the thug zone. This is not just me saying this, everyone i ski with agrees with me. This is ridiculous at this point. The 3 jump line was a JOKE as well, like what? it was way too easy to big air dave that shit. The rebuild doesnt even look much better, the first jump has the lip of the 60 on a 40 foot jump....da fuck? All im asking for is a decent sized jump to hit. Pretty, pretty please. It would take like 3 hours to fix the jump in swifty.....and take ouyt the jup at the base, that thing is useless. maybe put a chill 2 jump line in swifty? it's funny cause i saw park crew knuck the jump in swifty everytime they hit it yesterday....please, the park is pretty fun but theres no excuse for this.

Love, Zach

I think for the amount of budget and bureaucratic BS the park crew puts up with, they do a pretty good job.

But then again, I have a Big Sky pass for the skiing, not the jobbing.

I'm just saying if your going to make jumps for folks to hit, make them right. Plus the sniws been meh so I'm down to jump up and down lately

They should really just make step ups. Its really hard to make a bad step up. Plus they are pretty safe compared to the shit they have going right now.

just got to shred breck's jump line and it was incredible. perfectly shaped/sized/maintained jumps. just 1 or 2 similar to theirs would make the world of a difference in our park. I was even able to jump all day there though the meniscus injury i sustained from knuckling on a ramcharger jump because of the low impact/angle of breck's landings.

its really a simple matter of using the space effectively, building your landings first, and taking pride in your work. The fact that there are still rocks all over the park and its march is ridiculous, I know you guys have rakes.

Not exactly... here is the scoop.

The dude (lets call him Tim, cuz that is his name) was working for Big Sky as an ambassador (not working for the YC). There was no banging of a celebrity.

He was in line for first tram, and one of the instructors took a "big money" client to get on the first tram. This is something that the ski school has not done in a very long time, as its dickish. (This was not a "first tracks" lesson). So Tim tried to talk the instructor out of being a dick, but wasn't super polite about it. He sort of trash talked him on the way up, and the instructor reported it. Tim's friend got blamed for it, and banned, so Tim admitted to it, so as to spare his friend from being banned. Tim showed up to board and his pass didn't work, so he went up via Explorer, then Challenger, then onto the tram.

He then dropped into the little couloir, and ended up crashing with a spectacular tomahawk down most of the little. He definitely got down part of it though, and the dude shreds.

Since he had to cut through the north summit snow field on Moonlight Property, he was banned from both resorts, and also received tickets for theft of service, and trespassing.

Ugh I hate talking so much shit on the park since some of my good friends are on park crew, but this is honestly just embarrassing. How hard is it to properly maintain a fucking terrain park? Like honestly what do you guys do all day. I see park crew in the morning on swifty, in the afternoon for the evening rake and then maybe a few times during the day but from what it sounds like the rest of the time is spent napping in the locker room or eating in the cafe. flame me if you want but this is just an observation and based off of what i hear from the regular day crew/ rake bitches.

God I feel like a bitch. But it needs to be said. Big Sky's park was sooo good last year and now its just regressed into the fuckfest it was in years past

seriously. people hate on ski patrol, but I can honestly say instructors are the worst people on the mtn. as an employee I get more shit from them than any other outdoor function at big sky. their attitudes piss me off. with a few exceptions (ryan of course)

so the tram might be done for the season, blew the engine on sunday, they drove it out to idaho to get fixed, put it back in, ran it for about 2 feet and there was an electrical fire that melted part of the engine. I guess the drive is straight fucked and shooting out super high voltage. the engine is going back to idaho to get fixed again, and they're hoping to get it operational again but if not they may open the peak to hiking. pack up your granola and duct tape brethren, we're turning into bridger

back up as of saturday

looks like a new jump in swifty park, haven't seen anyone hit it yet but it looks decent
