that entire argument i got from my friend who is black. i know he doesnt account for every black person, but tis a good argument.

there are plenty of terrible things that happened to white people that we could cry about, half the racial insults towards blacks have nothing to do with slavery, and yet its still much much more offensive than anything racist towards a white person.

and as for every tv channel being a white channel, of course every channel is aimed mostly at whites, because the population is mostly white, so it kinda has to be that way. anyway thats not the point, i was saying that the name, white entertainment television, or stars white, would piss off people like crazy, if we had a white history month, people would flip shit.

i think its retarded to ban people for saying nigger, nigga, negro etc... nigga and negro have nothing to do with slavery, negro is a shortened word for negroid which is a word for black person.

you are all trying to be nice by saying that racism towards blacks will get you banned while every other racial slur towards other race's and religions that can be just as if not more "insluting" than nigger, are totally fine.

haha, ive got like 5 gay friends and you can call them fags all you want. i guess where i live is a pretty friendly place, there arent many homophobes or anything around here, and not many extreme racists, so i guess im used to a pretty relaxed attitude about it.

as far as i'm concerned, you can go ahead and say it to your friends or whatever in a joking manner. but seeing it on ns is pretty annoying, seeing as how there is usually no reason for it to be there. especially since it IS considered a racist term. you have to think about who is going to see it when you post it on the internet, and you need to consider what people are going to think of you when you use it. i can understand using it with your friends and people you know, but i'll bet there are a lot of you who won't say it in public if there's a black person standing nearby, so as not to offend them. the same rule should apply on ns.

btw, i'm half jamaican, and i only take offense to it when i see or hear someone tossing it around as if it was nothing, in a public place.
 
i talked to my black friend about this once. he told me that him and all of his family (who's black) up in new york really don't care about it. he said he is more offended when people call him african american and stuff like that. as far as i'm concerned, it's just a fucking word. unless you use it in a derogatory way towards somebody, i don't see the problem. i do see a problem if it's used like that or just tossed around like any other word. who gives a shit though, words will only be words. quit being a pussy and suck it up.

black people need to stop being so offended when whites use nigga, and whites need to stop being so afraid to say it. we need to realize that in order to eliminate racism we need to forget about it. just say the words dont think "oh shit that might offend someone" If we make so called "derogatory" terms just words they will in time, lose their meaning. Call white people niggas, call black people crackers. Just forget the words mean anything. If we keep trying to stop people from saying those words, it teaches people that the words mean something, and that there might be some truth behind the meaning they imply. Think about when you were a little kid, shit was considered an awful word, but now that you are older, and you use it more often there isnt as powerful of a meaning behind it. I know its a bad example but its the best I could come up with.

Last year I was in a boarding school and one of my roommates was black, and from a bad part of NYC, the other roommate was from korea. My black roommate got so pissed when ever a white person said Hey whats up my nigga" but he would say it to me so often. When white people said nigga he thought they were purposfully insulting him, but if we treat nigga as just a word we wont have that problem, it would be like calling people assholes, or dumbass.
 
^ or, how's about instead of using it MORE OFTEN, so that loses meaning, we could just stop using it? i'd rather not hear it at all than get used to the idea of it being used all the time. i mean, it's not as if there aren't plenty of other words you can use instead of the n word.
