The Most Astounding Fact

cheers mate! good thread. I shall use the celebration of this thread as an excuse to have a drink.

it's a repost. but good for you for being such a tough guy and not giving a fuck.

this and pale blue dot in the same night? awesome. if anything, this video is even more cliched, romanticized, and useless than that one.

I always thought a pretty astounding fact was that Ants and Humans are the only two species on the planet to herd other animals for productivity.

But seriously this was a pretty cool vidd. Even if it is a re-post, It's worth it :)

They're both about completely different things so why bash one when the only thing they have in common is space. Completely different themes and messages from each video. But then again your .2 karma to post ratio is a pretty solid hint that you're a douche.

I thoroughly enjoyed this vid. I've tried to explain this concept to some of my not so bright friends and i just get blank stares lots of the time :(

this is too fitting

because they have something in common. both about space, both filled with an overly-romanticized message.

your friends must be pretty thick to not get it. all he is saying is the first rule of whatever kind of physics it is that says that matter is neither created nor destroyed.

sorry i'm not 12 and am not impressed by a flimsy message made strong by setting it to pretty pictures and music. and karma? oh no! if i wanted a lot of +K guyzzzzzz i'd just post funny videos all the time and pictures of hot girls. luckily, i dont give enough of a shit to waste my time doing that

i didn't really read what you said cause all your posts say the same thing

but anyway, i find it surprising how the atoms which did come from those stars and ended up on earth can make such different beings.

flimsy message? lol

i dont understand why you're so naive. is it really that common knowledge that the atoms you're made of came from a reaction that may have happened hundreds trillions miles away millions of years ago? its preaching amazement through simplicity, in the first rule of chemistry that matter is never created nor destroyed. its the simple, straightforward things that give rise to the most astounding facts of our universe. stop trying to go "against the grain" and being all cool and badass, because it doesnt work.

i mean judging by people's reactions here i guess it isn't common knowledge. i'm not trying to go against the grain. it's just that all this video is is the first rule of chemistry but with pretty music and pictures behind it. it feels, at least to me, like this guy is trying to make what he does and himself more important than they really are, and a little bit like he's talking down to anyone who watches the video. we're all smart enough to get the message without the gimmicks. it is a really cool concept, maybe even the coolest concept, but i don't like the way he delivers it. but i guess that's just me.

hahaha this is kind of funny because your go-to move is belittling kids by saying they are much younger than they probably actually are. i was just taking a leaf from your book with that one.

the "-k" responses have less to do with the actual online rating system-- it's just another way of saying that I didn't like your post.

So here....I didn't like your post.

wait why do you have to wait for your asian roommate to leave the room? is this shit like porn for asians? would he just whip it out and start going to town because he just couldnt help himself and the science is just too damn sexy?

i'm aware of that. hence the reason i said if i wanted lots of karma i would just post funny videos or pictures of hot girls. because people like those things and would give me karma for them. i'm sorry you didn't like it.

I am pretty sure that Neil Degrasse Tyson is not high. He just has a very epic voice. Check his 10 questions segment from time magazine.
