The K2 debacle is a big fucking deal.

Yes, and I was shedding light on the situation. BUT, from the link you provided it says at the start.

"Back in 1995 he built the first twin tip skis out of his parent’s garage, launching LINE as the first of the modern day startup freeski companies & paving the way for dozens of other startups to follow."

No they weren't the first twin tip skis. Nor were they skis.. they were snowblades, and they probably (I don't know - should I research it?) weren't the first snowblades either. Also, coming up with twintips then wouldn't have been to hard, given all the twintip snowboards that were around.

From my assessment, JLev would be called a Fast Follower. Although, I think Sep 2013 is pretty late to start a custom ski shop, there were a bunch around when I was looking. I just asked him what his ideas were to make skiing great again if he were to become the head of this conglomerate... I never intended or wanted to start a thesis like he did. until he averted my question and people started poking at me. Is he a great skier? That'd give him more street cred in my book.. but starting companies and building them up within an industry is definitely a high achievement.

Whether he was the first or not does not have any bearing on the influence he and Line have had on the industry.

Guys like Tanner Hall and Eric Pollard weren't the first freestyle skiers, but they have been some of the most influential in shaping the direction our sport has gone.

JLev is like that, but from business side of things.

I started making twin tip skis before you were born. You can call them snowblades or skiboards or dual tipped snowboards for each foot like others did at that time that didn't understand where I was going with it. I was actually simply building a ski with an equal height tip on both ends that weren't like all the 207cm standard race skis of the time that everyone else was making and skiing on. I never claimed to invent anything, just pushed skiing as hard as I could in a different direction. This is the 8 min version of my past 18 years doing this

I'm older than you think. Interesting vid though, no mention of other key brands.

But I can see how much of a nightmare it would've been having all those competitors crop up out of nowhere (although it does prove the market) and then having to pull yourself out of debt so often via investors.

Often the best marketing is having a competition people can watch and then having heroes to impress upon others and for them to also copy. (Burton realized this) But personally, I dislike competition and heroes.

But hey, if you want to try my skis you are welcome. I used 125cm skiboards in 2012 and found they were too backseat for my liking, although I did like how nimble they were. The problem with short skis is they lack power when carving and stability on landing. I think my skis solve the former and I have an idea to solve the latter.

You wanna be a rockstar? Grow JSkis to something enormous. Now is your chance with the hole in the market. You sold out of Line and FT years ago, now you want them back?

If he is able to get them at a fraction of what he sold his stake for, its a steal.

its not a bad idea. think of all the NS fanboys that would like FT even more if it were owned by Jskis..

Line could be his large company to mass produce skis for big shops and he could still do jskis as his solo project.

Your skis look sketchy as fuck. The video of some dude skiing park on them makes them look about as stable as ski blades on gaper day. And that's just on piste, skiing those things on actual big mountain terrain would be like riding a tricycle down the redbull rampage course.

The problem with short skis is that they aren't suitable for anything more than learning how to ski on.

The skis can't land properly because they are full rocker. They need to be flattened for that. Anyway, the skis float superbly on pow and do really nice S curves, they are just slow. But I want CT to try them. He shoots down like a comet. But no where does it say you have to ski fast on pow. You can go half the speed and do double the jumps (*into a soft landing*) and have a much better feeling overall, with less danger. I can't see that happening, and I can't see JLev heading this conglomerate. It's all gonna turn to shit.

Coincidence, or do they know something others don't? Other brands ready to ramp up production too?

Not really, imagine a whole bunch of firms now cranked up ski production, only to result in an oversupply of skis (and then Newell actually sold k2+line.. and the big snowfalls never came.) Wow!!!

I wish Rubber Maid had bought Hart Carve... If any ski company needs shutting down by some ruthless private equity types....

I hope some Dare to Heartcarve 16/17 submissions come in before these companies shutdown. It'd hopefully make these Newell execs think twice about what they're going to be missing out on by shutting these companies down and all the fresh growth potential as a new breath of life is injected back into skiing and slope-tramming. I also hope they submit vids themselves.

What are they gonna do when Rozboon and Tdollo have about-faces on how wrong they were about it all.

If you try to emulate your modern ski hero, you won't get a fraction of the love back that you've given out. Then translating that into hate is just silly.

16/17 will be huge.

Fuck yes. I couldn't be happier that I made such an impression. I talked to you, in what, like 3 threads around a year ago? guess I really touch on an insecurity eh?

1) it's called a lurk, it's no paddle, and yes I have used one.

2) it's called a cowboy hat, and yes I wear one all summer long

3) I have yet to combine them, but I will. And you can bet your ass when I do I'll ski circles around you.

4) I am the best skier on the mountain. Any mountain.

That's bulls### and u know it. But feel free to enter D2C 16/17 and show the world how great you are. Cough. Cough.

But to really make that comp/exhibit/zoo work, it requires prizes, and for that I am asking K2 (in particular those fine Newell execs) to provide me with a shipping crate or two of all their soon-to-be deadstock, which I can dish out over the next few years to winners and participants of D2C.

K2-RIP.. Long Live Heartcarve!!

How ironic that one of the best things Newell can do for skiing and snowboarding is to shut down K2 and all its subsidiaries.. that is if my idea is viable.. which I believe it to be.

Telemark isn't really skiing... I am sure you are great at it ... whatever it is .. but,

Its like a Stand Up Paddle boarder referring to themselves as a surfer.

How did I not see this? Went fishin for a kook and caught a quadruple-conway.

Let's say, hypothetically, I am objectively better than you at sliding down snowy hills with skis on my feet. What would you call it?

If I'm not really a skier, it must be extra painful when I'm better at it. You might wanna #stopskiing

I am sure that you are awesome. and hands down a way better telemark skier than I am ...besides, I am hack at everything I do, so you can put you cock away and stop bumping your chest brah.

If you were a world class unicyclist, it would not make you a better than Mountain biker than me.... just saying.

Telemarking is like K2.. but as is in Canoes. And they are both on their last legs. And Heartcarving is like Newell in that respect.

I predict a small remnant will remain, but mainly for narcissist who just want to be different for the sake of being different and then want to be worshipped for it.
