The infamous "oh shit..." feeling.

damn, this happened to me yesterday. I went off a jump at Stratton and was gonna throw a 3 when I caught an edge or something on the takeoff and just flew sideways and for the 2 seconds I was just like, damn, this is gonna hurt. Landing was all ice, I smacked down and slid a bit and made my way to the side of the trail, and just laid there for a bit. Fun times

or spotting your landing and completing the rotation wayyy before your supposed to land...usually ends in some pretty ill 450s and 630s...on jumps though

oh my god... such a thrilling feeling.. it happens to me a lot though, but mostly when im skiing moguls, and all the sudden im bookin' at like 30 mph.... going straight, and then boom!! i get spit out.. in pain

hitting a jump too fast and wen ur still flying thru the air u look down and see that u shouldve bin on the ground already

my best experience with that feeling was when i was 180'ing a jump and i spotted my landing really early and by the time i was backwards i thought i would be landing but it turns out i went way bigger than i thought i did and had no idea when i was going to hit the ground and i was just switch and flailing, then i hit the last 5-10 feet of landing, crazy stuff

Last oh shit feeling, sliding an up rail that I've been seshing all season, last thing I remember was seeing my skis and feet in the air above me and thing "oh shit", ended up with a concussion, didn't get to ski for 20 days. Thursday, skiing for the first time in 20 days, superpipe + me super stoked + crazy over pop = in the air with one leg about to hit the deck, the other in the pipe..."oh shit" good times

scorpion and then going head first onto a cat track. that happened to me this weekend. i was like oh fuck im goign to break my neck and i cant do anything about it

the feeling of your ski jacket sucking in all this air cause you are so high up is intense too. Especially up your spine. Then the warm rush of landing... is magic.

yeah but usually overshooting there is still some slope, because its on a hill. casing is completely flat. but on most jumps i would rather case if i had too.

aaah it sucks when you're on a rail or box and you lose it and right before you fall you just think "god damnit this is gonna hurt"

haha or when your in the air sideways watching your landing about to nail you

I was hitting this kinked box today and im all like I can hit this its all good. I go to hit it and im good right untill I hit the incline and then I realize oh shit my ass is going to hurt so bad. I fell very hard and now have a bruise the size of a softball on my left ass cheek/thigh

I like when your overshooting a jump you've been hitting all day fine and you go to put it down the landing gear and nothings there....good times

today at park city i was doing the skinny up box at jonesy's, fucking bomb into it, tried a slow 270 off, but i dont know what happened right before i was about to spin, but i flew off superman style, going wayyyy high, im completely upside down and all i remember thinking is "shit my neck is done." so i ended up doing like another 1/4 of a fronflip and landed on my back, bruised and bloody ass, and concussion and blacked out for like 2 minutes

hahahaha i had this happen yesterday. i did a 3 over a pretty decent size table that i needed a lot of speed for and as i came around and looked at the landing i realized there was a kid standing like directly after where i was gonna land.. i landed smashed into the kid and pretty much killed him haha.. he got a concussion from it i guess.

I've had that feeling twice, once from just massively overshooting a fairly larg table, and then more recently when i was upside down in the air, knowing I was going to land badly, which proceeded to be 2 broken vertebrae - not so good!

it feels so cool cause everything slows down, but it suck at the same time cause u know yur gonna eat shit and its gonna hurt

im a noob at biking and i get that feeling way more often than skiing. it usually causes me to stop thinking and just freak out which leads to guaranteed falls. one time i forgot to go all the way back from an x-up and landed with my front wheel partially sideways and flipped forward. another time i forgot to pull my tail end up and cased like crazy, which in biking imo is worse than overshooting.

this feeling happened yesterday, i was at northstar and i was trying a 540 first hit off the last jump of their jump line, which is like a 50 footer, and i didnt have enough speed and so i was spinning and about 450 i hit the top of the table and and just missed the knuckle by about 3 feet, and now i have a fucked up foot

haha i fucking slammed myself off the end of a fdf today and got it when i realized i was leaning back way too far. my hat and goggles fell off i hit so hard haha.

nosing into an urban rail on a snowboard when you dont pop high enough is sooo scary cause its like ahh shit im about to fucking roll down these stairs and slam myself into the pavement.

yeah i hate when ur planin on what ur gonna do in the air like a new grab or something then u just hit the jump with way too much speed and when u get in the air ur like oooo fuck and u forget what u were gonna do

wow i did that trying to do a 5. i thought i needed more speed than i had and i watched my landing leave me and then ate shit.

one time at my friends, we were jumping on his trampoline playing tramp, and i had to do a lincon loop, and i couldn't do them but i was like fuck it, i jump as high as i can and try to do one, right at my highest peak i stopped rotating and i knew right at that moment i was fucked, looking down at the metal bar holding the springs in, saying to myself oh fuck this is gunna hert, flying threw the air as it seems in slow-motion, i find myself laying on his trampoline with my sholder herting really badly, and my friends laughing at me-mission acomplished

mine was similar but feeling my collar bone moving around inside my shoulder. And it was similar right before that when I was like "oh shit i'm gonna case this jump"

congrats on your awesomeness brah. and on that you are the lowest post count member ive seen with an icon. but thats a good thing. especially if its NIG.

i can deal with coming up short, i've had way too many overshoots that have messed me up. my body just freezes and i realized life is going to suck very shortly

ive had the oh shit factor skiing a couple of times

but not as much as during real life

1. in the ghetto going to a party, thought i locked myself out of my friends car along with the keys inside

2. thought i got locked inside a fenced parking lot

and this was just this last week

Overshooting sucks worse that undershooting. When you undershoot a jump, it happens quickly. But if you overshoot you have some time to think about what you did wrong... and you're not mad at yourself, you're just disappointed... and that hurts so much more

bump, the "oh shit!!" feeling when you set your spin off the lip and you feel your body corking in the wrong direction...

also, after you set your spin and there's a gaper just chillin on the landing

You know it's going to hurt, but all you can do is hang there, in the air, watching the lip getting closer.

But if you some how manage to just make the tranny, and stay upright, most amazing feeling in the world. The adrenaline is going, and you're unhurt. Magic.

northstar step over. slow snow. see knuckle, then immediately after see knees in face. then blood. oh shit.

no wonder everyone else was dropping in to hit it from 100 yards higher up the hill...

once while slightly intoxicated I went off one of the kings jumps at pc at about half speed... that definitely sucked. still not as bad as overshooting though.

another oh shit feeling is when you dont pop enough on to urban style rails and feel your tips catch on the way up.

how bout when it dumps over a foot the night before, and then realize "Oh Shit" i can't go skiing because of work

overshooting a jump gives me the weirdest feeling ever. its like everything is in slo motion and i know im going to crash, and I wanna just get it over with, but you're in the air for another 5 minutes.

my worst was hittin a c box way to fast and i was like ok lets 270 off, then all of a sudden my butt was on the end of the box and cracked it. Cracked tailbones= no fun

how about when you take off a fifty footer that sent your friend to the hospital just a week earlier and realize that you're sideways and at a 90 degree angle AND that you are about to land in the flat AFTER the landing. yeah. its happened. its fun. it didnt even hurt.
