The infamous "oh shit..." feeling.

I hate this feelinng but love it at the same time.

It's always funny to look back on your oh shit moments.

Ya it kinda defies logic but i think that undershooting is more painful for some reason. plus you have to deal with the humiliation

Example of the "oh shit" feeling:

^ me about to knuckle a five to death

haha it makes for an entertaining picture now though

^ it can be seen on your face that you've reached the point where you accept your fate and wait for the doom in a zen-like state of tranquility and calmness.

how about when spin and your face immediately gets covered by your hood and you completely lose the landing... That and undershooting get me more than overshooting

"oh shit, i lost a ski back at the takeoff"
or when i tried to drop in switch "oh shit i just planted my pole between my legs" thank god for helmets

I hit a gap that was about 15ft on my bike, but it had a ladder take off about 8ft tall, so it kicked you really high, and I somehow over shot the 10ft long landing by 15ft. (15ft+10ft+15ft=Major overshoot) I was in the air, thinking its good, and my friends watching, and when I see im way to far out, I just said "Oh shit." and then wham! I landed entirely on my front wheel. My the nosepiece of my helmet smashed the stem, and the visor went over the bars, leaving me with a big black eye for a week. Fun stuff. Got it perfect next run though.

its awesome when you hit two jumps in a row....land the first one, but binding releases, and the ski stays as if it were still attached.....you hit the second jump like everything is fine.....start spinning to see one of your skis just go straight and away from you.....its sweet.

last year, i decided i needed more speed for the only jump in the park. i dunno its probably around 30ft to the knuckle and i had been just barely clearing it all day so i tucked and just boosted the fuck out of it.. i watched the landing go by thinking holy fuck im going to die...i then proceeded to watch an icy flat landing come up and somehow landed on my side in a way that didnt hurt in anyway whatsoever. I then slid belly first down the rest of the park and as i passed people who i think thought i was dead id just wave and yell "hey whats up"

Oh my fucking God, I hate that feeling. It happens so fast too, but you still get an intense OH SHI- feeling. You think you are all cool and cruising, and bam, concussion.

lol, yo why didn't you jump up before your friends saw you and bust some serious afterbang lookin all thug? what were you thinking?

Last season, March, spring conditions and thought more speed was needed. I went off a medium sized jump (30ish feet) and was just going for a 540. But, the oh shit moment came when I instead noticed the landing going by at about 450 and hit flat at about 630 and proceeded to notice a ominous sag in my right leg. Next, I proceeded to yell my tib/fib is broken (kind of like the infamous "my ankles are broken"). That's my big oh shit moment of last season. I also had fun with a few "oh crap, I am going to come up a little short" oh shit moments mixed through out the season as well.

i hate that feeling when you overshoot

or go off a cliff without looking (well you know its not like a 50) to find its 20 feet to flat

I loike it when you loose your balance when you go off the lip and the you are tipping just a little too far forward. so then you flail and flail and look like a dumbass in the air and then you land leaning just a little forward and ski uncontrollable down the backside of the jump to fall at the bottom. nice

the other day i was trying overflips on a step over kicker, half way through the rotation i cought site of the knuckle coming ever closer to my head. apparentally my head shaved a layer of snow of the top. that was the last time i had the oh sit feeling.

the overshooting feeling is worse beacuse you have so my time to think oh shit this is going to hurt

Hate that feeling! But I think it's worse on trampolin! When you start the cork 9 and you realise you wont land on the trampolin again and the trampolin is 3 and a ½ feet over the ground

biggest o shit moment for me was. ( i snowboard so keep that in mind). i went to spin a backside 5, started spinning a second too early, and caught my backside edge, flew though the air superman style, but my back was facing the ground, not my stomach. hit the icy landing back first, then my head snapped back hard and got ringed on the ice. my teeth chomped so hard i literally though i broke some of them, as soon as i hit and stopped i threw my goggles, beanie, and glove off and ran my finger across my teeth to make sure they were all there. literally one of the scariest moments ive had up in my mountain.

since that crash i have worn a helmet everyday up riding.

haha The WORST "oh shit" is when you mess up and your falling backwards.

That sucks cause you can't see.

My personal worst was a hard hard table in a night park, over threw a cork 10 on the lip too early, instant ski eject and i think i landed at like 7 flat on my back.

that made my balls hide somewhere in my stomach

haha i hate it when you come around to spot your landing on a spin, realize its a mile behind you, and start thinking "no! wait!! fuck! i wanna go back!! i wanna go back!!"

overshooting sucks, I overshot a smaller jump before. popped off lip way to much and slightly off balance, watched the landing disappear, then felt my right leg give out on impact. The results were spiral fracture to my femur in 3 places, some new titanium hardware and a happy new years in the hospital. Happened 2 days after christmas. Happy Holidays to me!

... When trying a new Corner, and not yet realizing that it IS a Corner. Getting huge air, and thinking that i might soon land safely on the oppisite side, but there was never an opposite side.. 6 meters straight down.. " Oh holy S...... " ! xD

I've gotten this feeling a few times on the hill before a nasty wipeout, but my most common oh shit feeling comes late at night just as I'm falling asleep when I suddenly realize I have a giant assignment due first thing in the morning.

Both suck.

Can't believe no one has mentioned oh shit moments you have in the pipe.... I have had some of my most spectacular oh shit moments in the pipe.... it's the most brutal place on the mountain...

When you absolutely boost, too much boost..... spin and realise you're going to land on the lip... or, over cook it and overshoot the transition straight to the flat at the botton.... i have smashed myself so many times missing the tranny in the pipe.... whiplash central. There is a total moment of OH SHIT when you reach the peak of your air..... and it's like time and space stop for a second, just for you to claim the oh sh*t....

Oh shit, I forgot about this one. It was back at creek probably like 6 or 7 years ago, when I was a little kid and still took my carver skis of the jumps. I hit one with a lot of speed and got so much air, I thought "Oh shit i'm gonna die when I land" but i didn't and landed backseat. Some snowboarders on the side clapped.

for me its the oh FUCK feeling. hahaha spinning and relizing you spun to hard and somehow your body just stops mid spin at like 540 when you were going for the 900 for the first time. Ouch

its worse when you on your neighbors tramp and its sitting in rocks between two fences and the thing is from the 18th century. I pulled a corked 3 and landed on my back on the fence, fell back on the springs on the tramp, one of the springs broke and my head fell through and hit the rocks.. yeah that left lots of bruises

if one of your skis pops off mid flight.. you immediately realize that you should try to land on one ski, and you fail dramatically

Lol sorry for the dub post but I have a good story:

At Momentum, Bushfield built this rock gap that actually popped you over the rock really nicely, but I was bitching out so I'd go off to the right so that I would miss the rock. Problem was that the landing was smooth if you went straight over the rock, but not at all if you went to the right. And any landing you could possibly make was steep as fuck.

So I went off to the right, landed on this little ridge-type thing of snow, maybe like a foot high but still enough to buck me, so I hit the ground and immediately dove headfirst down the hill, sliding, rolling, all that, losing one ski. I tried to get up and afterbang it but was so tired and disoriented that I fell down again and slid like 10 more feet.

Best part? It didn't hurt a bit. It was hilarious.

my first attempt at a misty was the biggest oh shit moment i've ever had. I bruiesd my tailbone wicked bad. my friends thought I broke it when theu saw me land

worst oh shits (if you ski with your tongue out like me i know weird but its a habit) is when you crash/land hard and bite down and think half ur tongue is missing
