The infamous "oh shit..." feeling.

every skier has felt this feeling, im really sure of that. the feeling when you realize just how high you popped off the lip; the feeling you get right after you realize the rail is no longer under your bases; the feeling of overshooting a jump or cliff by a mile and just realizing how painful your impact is going to be.

we all know this feeling. am i right?

and if you dont get what im talking about, either watch Pep's in air revert that doesnt defy physics. he really reaches the oh shit... moment about 1 second after taking off.

Yah when you spot your landing and your like alright there it is,...yup its still there...ok there it went...ummm...shiiiit

depending on the severity or intenseness of the oh shit feelin i cant help myself from hurling like bear when im scared or screaming like an excited kid when im stoked.

haha it's really scary when you are totally inverted and you notice that you aren't going to land feet first...

i like the feeling of landing a new trick for the first time more

I much prefer the overshoot feeling to the undershoot feeling.

Its like Ohhh shittttttttttttt WHERE the HELL IS MY LANDING.

hate it. i get it even when nothing is wrong. like if im trying something new, even if i dont fall during the trick my major thought is "o shit"

hahaa its always funny to get one of those moments

ESPECIALLy like you said when overshooting a landing

because your just floating and your seeing the landing disappear

and think...oh shit!

Ohhh man, how about when you spot your landing but you realize that you are still 90 degrees away from how you want to land? Yowzers.

aahhh happened to weeks ago. I honestly thought I had bit my topngue in half. first thing i did was grab the tip to see if it was there no joke/

my first back flip on a snowboard stalling mid flip looking at my top sheet straight up in the air and knowing i was fucked

it sometimes is really scary and dosnt hurt but it can be the other way but ive gotten that when ive overshot a kicker looking down realizing you are still in the air and you should have landed by then and then your legs kick and flail it seems

the worst feeling is when you crash and realize that your shouler is out of socket as you are sliding down the landing

undershooting = landing flat after not getting enought air = high impact

overshooting= landing flat after TOO much air and way more vertical drop then undershooting = even higher impact.

now do the math and tell me wich one is gonna hurt more.

i think prolly the scariest feeling would be a jake brown style fall into a quarterpipe or in the pipe.

can you imagine his thought process in the air? damn. haha that gives me the shivers.

First backflip I did, perfect example, I saw the lip and was like "Oh shit, I'm upside down," then I didn't make it and my tips caught the ground and I landed on my chest. I hate the 'Oh shit' feeling.

blasting down some icy moguls...one ski comes off...flying towards next mogul superman style....shit..6 months of rehab later i can use my shoulder.

25m step down. 540 effort. getting round 360, realising i had nowhere near enough speed, seeing the landing is somewhere next week. insert 'oh shit' feeling here.

that split second after you hit the ground when you see something thats about to make heavy contact with your face...oooh.

ive experianced something like that before. i overshot a landing by at least 30 feet maybe even more and had that 2 second time period to think of how bad youre gonna be fucked when you land on hard flat surface of a groomer

Under shooting is bad

Over shooting is even worse

Under shooting switch, you're gonna eat shit for sure

Over shooting switch, I hope that you have other plans than skiing for the next few years

I just had that two days ago on a huge D-F-D rail. Right before the second kink I could feel myself losing it and I was thinking OH SHIT this is gonna hurt. It all felt like slow motion and my front ski spun around went forward came off the rail behind me then my back ski went off the other side caught under it and my ski popped right off. I spun a 180 in the air, hit my shin on the rail hard, and face planted into the snow. Now it really sucks though cuz my shin swelled up to the size of a grape fruit and now I can't get my boots and its a three day weekend.

scariest feeling ever. i overshot a jump and looked down and was thinking exactly "oh shit" and then was out for 5 weeks

I got the infamous oh shit feeling last night, when i was in the air and realized not only was i soooo back seat i was going to land in my back, but that i also ove shot the jump to the flat. It was a good 20 feet to flat on back, on ice. oh shit

i saw jons huge 540 in the big air at x so i decided to go for a SLOW spin five...over shot the jump got to 450 and in the air...yep the oohh shit...then wack...felling that cant be describable.

yeah i hate that in the air but i think a worse "o shit feeling" would be looking at your arm or leg and seeing it bent the wrong way or seeing the bone out of the skin. The feeling when you know you got a season ender is the worst but i've never gotten one that nasty looking yet

when you take off slightly backseat on a kicker which sends you flying thorugh the air flat on your back, where you cant see the landing aproaching but you know its going to come and bite you in a few seconds, thats an o shit feeling

the worst oh shit feeling is when you are going up a jump, and just a few feet from the lip wind hits you head on yet its too late to duck out so you have to hit it knowing you arent gonna make it

i 1'd a 40 foot table and cased it (first attempt) i didn't fall but on the landing my tails crossed somehow i reverted and came out of it and 2 days ago i 1'd a step up that boots you like 20 feet up and at about 90 degrees i saw i was gonna caase and i just started flailing with my back to the landing put out a huge stance and stomped it lol

of course i've had my bad ones too

but i kinda like the oh shit feeling its cool when you ride out of that feeling

I hit this spine with some of my friends and it had a mailbox rail in the middle that you could jib on if you wanted to and we just decided to jump over it for fun and we bombed and overshot the jump by like 10ft and landed on flat. I got such a rush and ya I had an "oh shit..." moment when I was up in the air. Luckily i wasn't hurt, I thought it was actually pretty funny cause the same thing happened to all my other friends hitting it.

I like to call this feeling my "oh jesus! light". When something gnarly happens to someone or something like that I'll just be like "dude, your oh jesus light must of been flickering eh?"

Oh man, I know this so well. Just last weekend at Bachelor, I cased hard on the second jump in the park and of course not wanting to case again, I carried a lot of speed into the third. Boosted hard and as I saw the knuckle pass by about 20 feet below me I had a definite "oh shit" moment. As a matter of fact I think I said "oh shit" - didn't yell it, just stated it matter-of-factly - about a second before I hit the flats.

i also forgot to add last year i hit this hip that had a lip that looked like this / to this| and so it booted me straight up i aired the whole landing and dropped like 15 feet flat onto my back on ice lol

or when you get sucked into the wall cause of too much speed, compress, and pop off at the top towards teh middle of the pipe, falling 20 feet onto your back on the east coast ice and coming to a dead stop...

My last Ohshit feeling was, when I hit a skiing sign with my head. The strange two seconds, when you dont know where u are, and where top and bottom is, while you are flying uside down is very strange. I had that about 3 or 4 times in my life. That defenately teaches me to wear a helmet next time. But fortunately I have a hard had.

dropping into the pipe waaaaayyy too fast just before running into the transition on the other side (the halfpipe wher I ski isn't very big)......
