The How did you come across Newschoolers thread ?

i was at work at the hill

and another guy wasnt workking he was on ns so

naturally ns was more temping than doing what i was sposed to be doing
 
I was on freeskiing.com and they kept saying "newschoolers.com runs the shit" and i hopped over.
 
I think I was googling skiing trick tips a while back when I was first getting into freestyle skiing...I wanted to learn 360s.
 
i was looking around on forums and stuff to buy some skis and someone on some local thing mentioned NS so i came over and never looked back
 
idk but i just remember coming across some NS video contest in like 2004 where u had to make a ski edit and put the name newschoolers in there creatively, and i remember there was one w/ a crab that said "newschoolers.com" in a screachy voice, and i didn't know how to navigate the site so i stopped going on it, and like a year later i went back on it and have been hooked ever since, but i don't know how i stumbled upon it
 
i was on freeskiing.com and treated it like a myspace. then someone said NS is the shit so i signed up. i was like WTF this sucks where are all the chicks?!?!? and went back. THEEEN once i actually started skiing hardcore i couldnt leave this place.
 
My friend is Shane Szocs nephew. he told me about his freeskier uncle who owned a camp and skiied for K2 and i was like bull shit. So i googled shane szocs and an article on newschoolers popped up. Bingo.
 
weird, i was wondering this today. and ashley if you read this how did you find it, thats what i was wondering.
 
Well where do i start....

One day i was walking down the beach aimlessly when i stumbeled...literaly stumbeled onto a FREEZE magazine... I looked in this anchient artifact and saw a bunch of hyroglyphics, they were little men with a snowboard under each foot and with only one binding on each board. I was flaburgasted that they would treat snowboards like that. As i continued to look through this "FREEZE" i saw NEWSCHOOLERS.COM more than one time... then i realized that i could finaly read actual words instead of pictographs.. I dont know what that "word" ment. So a few years later i stumbeled, literaly stumbeled and fell onto a computer at a "internet cafe". During the stumbel i burned myself badly.. and i went to the hopspital saying, ouch, my face is burning. Then i was treated, and i asked the nurse for a "personal computer" now you people call them "PC's", cleaver by the way. And i finaly after weeks of trying got to this "website" called NEWSCHOOLERS.COM. I learned many things from this site, such as to NEVER USE CAPS UNLESS YOU ARE YELLING!!!, and to always searchbar things or else i am called a "NOOB" and that a man named Tanner Hall is ruling the world like the myans did....

I found it from searching google and it linked to some kids profile. I used that profile as the bookmark to get to the site for almost a year before i signed up with my first account. Never really posted much till i got my second account which is lluttrell.

 
you should pick that name up that you just dropped! i think i heard someone blabbling about it at the mtn back in the day before they did mtn marketing with flags and banners and actually showing up themselves. they've definitely grown as a business i'm positive. good for them
 
in 6th grade comp tech. class my buddy and I would just look at pictures and videos, then we discovered the forums..... oh boy... i'm trying to remember my old ass user name.
 
I was looking for ski reviews back in like 2003-2004 and newschoolers had high quality ones, after a year or so I realized the forums existed so I made an account.

Around 2002/2003 my buddy Nico was really into freestyle skiing. I have skied over 18 years but I never really threw spins or any tricks really. Except for daffy's, the big "Iron Cross", and just tricks I learned from my moguls coach. I was used to skiing fresh, doing the bumps, and "hucking" cliffs. NS and the lifestyle was all new to me; and Nico was a member of newschoolers already. He got me really stoked on throwing pencil 7's and shit. I just liked which direction newschoolers was headed in terms of skiing not Hating and I had to join. Ever since I have been a faithful member of NS.
 
like 4 years ago i got an account with a friend who told me and then used it for like a year but i completely forgot the name and password so i couldn't use it and then i created this one when i got back into it
 
i saw a newschoolers.com sticker in barnes and nobles one time, ever since that i've been hooked. it was a perfect time cause that was when i really got into skiing.
 
friend told me, and since that very day i havent accomplished any thing except for gaining posts
 
No one is going to belive this, but some guys on a gaybladers forum were talking about how gay this forum was, so i was like haha that forum must be cool and came across to have a look, it was love at first sight and i joined asap.
 
no one can believe me on the shane szocs nephew thing, but w/e. He told me his mom's sister, amanda, maiden name hilifer, married shane szocs. i thought he was throwing shit, then his sister was in a high north vid, and i saw the email from shane with the kids from ethiopia he adopted. I'm pretty sure he's not lying.
 
I wanted to build a backyard rail so i searched google, and i was directed to the "build a jib" cult. I had to join the site to join the cult so i could build my jib, which i still haven't done 3 years later...
 
when i was a freshman in high school (2001?) i was creating a skiing website (free-stylers.com) to post our groups pictures and videos. if you ever saw it, im sorry it was so shitty. it wasn't the top priority of my life. Anyway, I was looking for other ski websites that i could link up with and increase my site's traffic. ran into gene from freeridezone.com and he helped me out a little bit with coding and opinions. then he mentioned matt harvey of newschoolers.com. so i started talking with harvey, he helped me learn how to use embed videos in webpages and javascript code. back then video and webpages weren't a common thing. flash was new technology. but yeah, harvey's input made things really easy, i was doing everything hard coded html. not fun. yeah so then our websites were posted in an issue of FREEZE and i felt good and was planning on releasing a version 2 with an area for kids to submit their own shit. thinking it might give people inscentive to check the site. but harvey released the improved version of ns and there was no need to have a bio/media site. so i stopped making my site, and got drunk most days instead. began using the forum and met a bunch of cool people. then i moved outa my parents house and began to ski for 3 years and ns has died in my life other than checking video in the summer time. oh yeah and i remember this site getting really popular and extremely young kids joining. it used to be a very close community where you knew most people's names.

some of us are still out there....most of them are green.
